The video surprised me! My Glocks have always been crazy reliable including in torture tests. I own a plethora of firearms but no 1911’s or 2011’s yet but do plan on buying some soon. Now I really want to buy some even more so than before.
Got a 1911 made in 1913, carried it until a year ago. Retired it for another 1911. Love the safety, steel frame, and easy to shoot. Personal carry when I was 19, now I'm 52 and still carry. Just old school
At the time of the 1911 adoption it’s design was meant to stand the test of time with quality and function. The Glock did it cheaper 70 years later. The fact that the design principle of the 1911 is borrowed and used in almost any modern pistol is point proven on design quality.
The 1911 was a fantastic pistol for a very long time, anyone that denies that is ignorant. However anyone that says newer pistols such as Glock aren’t superior are just as ignorant.
@@joncampo1627 you comment is quite ignorant of this subject. Apparently you know more then a majority of us special forces. Granted delta may have switched out to a glock 19, but a large amount are still in service. On top of that a majority of las Vegas metropolitan police carry the 1911. As well as la swat, and fbi hrt. Glock has gone to absolute shit with cq, more and more glocks are being shipped out broken from the factory, a majority of the custom glock pistols the border patrol ordered have already broke. The bottom line is I have yet to find a pistol more accurate then a 1911. Basically newly manufactured pistols keep having issues , the 1911 keeps improving to the point that some are just as reliable as any modern day handgun.
1911s performed well in the trenches in ww1 and Jungles in ww2. The reliability issues started to happen with "match" guns and advent of junk MIM parts.
Don't forget, the Glock has stood the time in the alleyways of New York, Detroit and Chicago. Gotta give cred where cred is due. Glock should come out with an anniversary model with bling on it. Maybe a rhinestone studded slide.
Totally expected. Glock are used all around the globe for two reasons: One: they are cheap, like ground ass cheap. And sometime, for some governments or agencies, totally free. Remember the swap of the NYPD arsenal for glock 17? Two: they are "dumb" guns. Load and push the trigger, bang. No active safeties, no extensive drill. Just pull and shoot. But whatever the fanboys says, they are prone to break, non reliable under severe use and inaccurate ouf of the box. Yes the barrel is good, but the trigger is awful!
I think of the 1911 the same as the 30/30 lever action. At one point in time it was the best there was for its intended purpose. Today, there are better options. However, they both still do today, what they did back then just as good as ever.
I’d argue that a double stack 1911 with some rails is still a perfectly useable pistol nowadays. Mainly because most modern pistols still use a Browning style tilting barrel, short recoil operation that the 1911 has, meaning its core internal guts aren’t out of date like a lever action would be to a gas operated semi auto.
Except what you constitute as "being better" actually doesn't matter. Data on self defense shootings have been done and shown that in 99% of self defense shootings, the situation is resolved in under 7 shots, and a reload is almost never required. you think glocks are better because they hold more rounds, when having tons of rounds doesn't matter at all
just goes to show us that john moses browning was a pure genius on how his design that's 111 years old and still runs like she is supposed too even with mud in her.
@@The_SmorgMan I'm guessing with today's technology John Moses Browning would show today's manufacturers just what gun design is all about. 112 years later the 1911 is still a trusted friend. Wouldn't leave home without one. The best side arm I've ever had the pleasure to shoot. The m1911 lives on.
My guess is it has more to do with the caliber difference- the blowback energy in ejecting each round is much higher in the 45, which would also aid in “cleaning” out debris
For comparisons of what is carried, a .45 1911 vs a g19 makes sense. But a fair test to the systems would make more sense in the same caliber. Even though it was “just for fun,” you made a good observation.
It might even put cause the 1911 slide is a lot heavier, Glock is lighter and smaller caliber. Also their testing each gun in its most popular caliber.
Here is an idea for a video, do a stress test for a sig sauer p320 vs glock 19 vs m9 beretta, those are the three main US military sidearms so it would be interesting to see which is more durable. Also, thanks for the great content👍
Most modern pistols still use a tilting barrel, short recoil design taken straight off the 1911. That’s why the 1911 still isn’t outdated, and it’s kinda sad, honestly.
Sad we havent found anything better? The other side of that coin is being impressed we found something that worked so well we havent needed to change it.
the men that created these systems, set the precedent of what firearms are. The technology at the time musta seemed alien, considering we live in the future now lmao
@@jslasher5330 Yeah, but it does mean technology isn’t developing as quickly as it did in the past. We’re 111 years since 1911. The same amount of time before 1911 was 1800, when handgun technology was single shot flintlock muzzleloaders. And in the next 111 years, we got percussion caps, then cap and ball revolvers, then cartridge revolvers, then break action revolvers, then simple blowback autoloaders, then short recoil with a tilting barrel. And yet, once we got to short recoil with a tilting barrel, we just kept reusing that for the next 111 years. Every subsequent gun design, for all intents and purposes, are pretty much 1911s with some extra features and iterative improvements on the same design.
I applaud your sacrificing your guns for this fun to watch video! I love mine too much and they cost me too much and I'm too OCD about cleaning mine to want to do this sort of thing but, Im glad you did! Moments before watching this I pulled my little Ruger LCP Max out of my Sticky pocket holster and freaked out when I saw some pocket lint had accumulated in the hammer area! 😂
I was crying when you packed them up with mud. True grit test of the performance of both guns. I have been on the fence on the purchase of a 1911, now you have cemented the decision for me.😅
Fun fact. The original plans for the 1911 were designed in 1890 and put on the back burner till trials started in 1906 and resubmitted by two companies for field tests in 1907 and tested till final adoption in 1911
I have a Gen 3 Glock 19 that I've had for a long time and love it but I also grew up with the 1911 and was my first carry gun . I still today would not think twice about carrying a 1911 , still a damn great firearm !!!
The 1911 is my handgun of choice, mainly because the grip angle/frame fits my hands perfectly. I’ve tried many kinds of handguns but none seem to fit my hands more perfectly than a 1911. I got nothing against other designs. I never truly understood the “hate” behind these pistols. If anything it’s astonishing how it’s design has hardly changed since it’s invention and yet it just works so well
Because this isn’t a Glock add. Most Glock torture tests are done by people who preach Glock as the absolute best handgun on the planet. If it fails they will not upload the failure. I had a Glock and had it fail under normal conditions within 250 rounds. Not a huge deal but it happened. 1 FTE. It’s not magical and this unbiased recreational video shows it. Glocks are great but so is literally every quality modern handgun. 1911s are tricky though but if you get a properly built one it’s a fantastic sidearm!
Glocks are definitely reliable but some people over exaggerate it’s reliability. People like to believe that glocks are unjammable which is a very stupid myth. I don’t say this to shit on Glock I’m just saying that guns will jam like everything else in life.
Great video. I told my self I would only buy Glock but I started venturing off and now own a bit of everything. I recently started purchasing 1911s and I’m hooked best gun ever made.
So a few things I have to say. Two guns that worked fairly well when exposed to outer dirt and sand are the M-16 and 1911 pistol. Reason being is the guns are pretty well protected in the inside from out side dirt and grit. The Glock tends to malfunction more with wet sand because there is more gap between the slide and frame to where sand can get into and also because it has an external extractor the gun wont eject casings out reliably. The 1911 has an internal extractor so thats why it still functioned. The biggest problem with the 1911 will be debris getting in to the hammer it will produce a malfunction just about everytime.
Well, the 1911 did pass a 6000 round test with no malfunctions in initial trail. No other pistol did. I think that sums it up. It’s reliable. The Glock is too. The 1911 is just a beautiful brute.
That was an eye opener. Thought the 1911 would be the gun to have problems. Thinking about it, the 1911 is more protected from the elements, and the glock has finer parts that would not like getting dirty. Good video
Good video. Over 100 years later still hard to beat the trusty 1911. Withstanding the test of time is the true test. I'd say glock will be here in the same time frame as well. Both are well designed pieces of machinery. We truly live in the golden age of firearms. From the old 1911 tried and true to the gen 5 Glock. We have a fit for any shooter today.
Just ran into this fantabulous video , I'll tell you what : I've had 15% malfunction marginal sessions with a colt competition series than a stock Springfield 1911. I kinda think that's why you chose a Springfield 🙌
When I think about how much money I have invested into my 1911/2011 collection it makes me kind of sick because I have a couple few full blown customs of both and just about every 1911 Springfield and Dan Wesson made or makes. That said striker fired guns take much less maintenance and are inherently more reliable but honestly they're all good guns. In this day and age there's very few bad guns out there and that's why it's such an awesome time to be a gun owner because we have so many options. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
@@areyou0k98 I own a DVC Carry from STI but I also call all double stack 1911's a 2011 not just STI or Staccato guns even though technically STI/Staccato is the only true 2011 because they're the ones who came up with the term... But I also own a Triarc TRI-11 and an Atlas Athena.
@@Sneedmeister when a gun takes less maintenance to keep running its inherently more reliable it's that simple. I can run a glock, Springfield, or a M&P striker fired gun with no lube, with lube and dirty without issue. I have mags that I've used to shoot 1000s of rounds through all those guns without issue... a 1911/2011 on the other hand takes a bunch of maintenance to keep running at the same level. When they don't have enough lube they start to choke with serious use, if you over lube them and they get dirty they choke and for whatever reason my mags for my 1911's fail at a much higher rate and sooner. That said 1911's and 2011's are reliable guns... 2011's are race guns and have to be reliable otherwise it's a nonstarter for competitions but they also take tuning and high maintenance and you have to know that going into that and you have to stay on top of things. I'm a huge fan of 1911's and 2011's like I said in my original comment the money I have in my collection I could probably buy 2 very nice vehicles with that money but I love the way they shoot to me there's no better guns but I can still be objective...
John Browning's action designs are not only still used in modern pistols but also in modern rifles, shotguns and machine guns. The man was a firearms genius!
Good to see someone do this after watching shorts of a man who is pretty much a fudd for Glocks. He tried a Kimber 1911 and had nothing good to say about, he also blamed the gun for him missing the target, despite him not being use to the SA trigger. Thanks for the video
I’m super interested in a torture test for the Tisas 1911. They make a very accurate (though not 100% accurate) clone of the WW2 M1911A1, called appropriately “Tisas 1911 US Army”. It’s really hard to find a bad review of them, at least the ones made within the last 5 years or so. Forged frame and slide, series 70 internals, some milled internals and some MIM… They can be had for around $400. Nobody, to my knowledge, has done a real torture test on one. I’d love to see how it holds up against the Springfield. And not just in operation/ being able to cycle after being dunked in mud is great, but how about accuracy? You’d be the first to do it, if you wanna drop the cash on a Tisas.
I didn’t buy a Springfield but I bought a Colt because of this video. A 1911 that is set up the right way and built the right way. Will tolerate a lot of dirt and a lot of abuse.
I was describing what you were doing to my wife who has a Nighthawk Shadowhawk and a Springfield TRP Operator. And I think she’s right when she says that a single grain of sand would make her Nighthawk fail. That’s how tight the tolerances are, and the TRP is close. I’d expect the Milspec to run dirty, a requirement of a military environment you’d think. Thank you sir for some further entertainment. Stay warm and safe. My daughter in Houston says it’s been pretty cold. Best Regards
Absolutely not the case, 1911s fail if hard particles make it into the barrel lugs and seat and the tighter guns prevent that from happening. I've had a harder time getting my NHCs and Wilson's to fail than my cheap ones
The real question is does the .45 round have more energy to push the slide back? This would put the 9mm Glock at a disadvantage when trying to cycle the gun with sand/dirt in it.
Well if that is true (and it might just be) that would make the argument that the 1911 is a more reliable gun given that the glock was a 9mil from the beginning.
Energy doesn’t have anything to do with it. I’ve seen many Glocks in 9mm perform perfectly while many 1911s fail. It depends on feeding which the Glock does perfectly. 1911s with the right feeding ramp and a tuned extractor will function fine since extractors are the biggest culprit in feeding issues in 1911s. The Glock in this video just had some bad luck.
Didn't surprise me. I've run one over with a D6c and all I had to do was replace the hand grips. It was dry San Luis Obispo dirt too, hard as concrete. I'm afraid a glock or any other polymer pistol would've met it's match..
Yeah I'm thinking he did something to handicap this test.... Not to mention I could tell he was limp wristing. There are hundreds of videos with Glocks smoking 1911s in adverse conditions. Military arms channel is one of my favorites.
@@napalmstickylikeglue in general a Glock will limp wrist easier than a 1911 since it’s lighter and has a plastic frame. I think the Glock got unlucky because I ain’t never seen a Glock suffer that much even if the dude was limp wristing.
@@moistexistence3090 The Glock also shit the bed in InRangeTV’s mud test, while Ian’s Spanish 1911 clone did better. Glocks are simply too open to perform well in mud.
@@napalmstickylikeglue nah it seems like you glock fanboys are just coping that your "perfect" handgun is actually a pile of shit. keep making excuses though.
Gunbully did something similar a couple of years ago. They capped it off by shooting the guns with a 12 ga. and then blowing them up with tannerite. the glock was in pieces and the 1911 had to have a couple of lead pieces poked out with a screwdriver but still fired.
I think its more important that one can diagnose and clear malfunctions when they occur in actual situations vs how well it can take deliberate abuse. Nobody in their right mind would ever deliberately abuse a weapon they are depending on. Having said that, its more impressive when one can take the abuse and still work.
Key word "deliberately" so what if you are depending on it, in a real SHTF scenario. You think your going to careful sit it down on a table or a carry case or running through a river or woods you think your going to put it in a waterproof bag? Or yaknow, hiding from somebody for whatever reason an they sneak up on you an knock the gun out of your hand, whatcha gunna do say hold on let me gently put down my firearm an then we can duke it out? No dude your ridiculous, yes knowing how to clear a weapon of a malfunction is just as important as knowing how to and when to use it properly, im not bashing that at all you are 100% BUT as for the second part of your statement, in a real life heat of the moment situation anything is possible and i would much rather know what gun can take what abuse and what one cant especially if im going to be dependent on it.
@@DasGrosseReich dropping a gun in the dirt because some asshole snuck up on you and hit you isn't even remotely close to the same as burying it in mud to see what happens. In that scenario, either they're exceptionally good at stealth or your situational awareness sucks.
The M1911A1s service record speaks for its self. From the muddy trenches of ww1 to the frozen battlefields in europe ww2, and the pacific campaigns, Korea, to the jungles of Vietnam. .... the glock just dont compare.
The 1911 struggled in sandy environments, especially after folks in Delta Force went to kydex holsters that left the gun exposed. Sand would work it's way in and shut the gun down. Somalia and the early days of Afghanistan proved a problem for the 1911. This is why Delta went to Glock and the rest of the world followed. That said, a 1911 would serve most regular guys well if they maintain it, use ammo it likes and good magazines. You like what you like.
@@briant7652Not really, given the Glock performed worse in fine sand when Larry Vickers tested various guns in Delta, though he did note maybe a grip plug might’ve helped. HK USP performed the best in their tests and Glock actually performed worst. GI 1911 did second to last while the custom 1911s with stronger springs did second best.
This was an awesome video. I'm of the belief that Glock Reliability has more to do with total rounds and lack of cleaning under normal use. I have a stainless Springfield 1911-A1 Loaded that sat in my closet for 10ish years without being used and it would not function at all without a thorough scrubbing-down. I couldn't even get the safety off. Can't say for sure, but I bet my Glocks would be GTG.
1911s do need lube to function. My 10mm 1911 had FTF issues because when I was carrying it, the lube dried out and when I went to shoot it, it would jam once a magazine. I thought something was wrong first but the manufacturer got back to me saying it was too dry and after I lubed it, it went back to 100%. Glocks can go longer without lube like that, kinda like AKs vs. ARs. lol I still prefer 1911s, though. They’re nicer shooting guns and now that I know I just need to lube the gun once every month or so, it’s not too bad.
the 1911 was well known as a manstopper long before any of us were born. it's reliability endeared it as a service sidearm for almost as long as it's been around. it's literally more American than apple pie. the Glock is a generic handgun that utilizes some novel features compared to the conventional firearm, and it may have been designed by an Austrian painter.
I have a Glock and a 1911, and I like them both. I had the opposite experience: My Glock runs more reliably, but my 1911 is insanely accurate. My 1911 is a Kimber, maybe it's meant more for precision shooting and has tighter tolerances than the Springfield?
You said your problem as soon as you said Kimber...I've owned several 1911s and not one was a Kimber and had nothing but flawless performance. Especially in recent years Kimber's are known to be headaches. I highly recommend either Remington or Springfield 1911s.
Thats the overall point, a lot of fudds seem to be missing.. I'm spending $400-$550 for a glock, and have to spend over $800 for a decently reliable 1911.. I've owned 3 1911s, 2 rock islands and 1 kimber.. all wouldn't even make it through 7 rounds per mag with the different types of premium ammo I tried.. ended up selling them. Yet the first glock I ever owned was a 19 gen3 I put together for $400 and I only ever had a malfunction with these super old hollowpoints from 2006, and it was a failure to feed. I also had user induced malfunctions with how high I gripped the pistol, until I bought a kagwerks extending release. Has been completely reliable since with about 3k rounds on that one gun. It's not even a glock oem slide and barrel either. The frame is oem but the slide is some discount brand I bought for $280 on sale (it doesnt even have a brand, caliber, or model milled anywhere on it), and the frame was $120. 1911s are very pretty and enjoyable to shoot when you pay decent money, but for anyone on a budget, not commonly crawling through muddy trenches, I'd suggest a glock any day.
All of the Kimber 1911's, even their $2000+ models, come with non-forged parts. And a lot of times they use something other than metal for parts on the inside altogether. You can't go wrong with a solid forged steel Springfield.
@@cjlane4465 never had a malfunction with my 1911 and didn’t have to spend much. There are cheaper guns than Glock that are just as reliable. I have a P365X with 5k rounds through it without a single malfunction. The reality is a single gun comparison a statistic doesn’t make. This video concludes nothing except a direct comparison of those two specific guns. At the end of the day, i would rather own a 1911 if i could only have one. Luckily, we can have both - I do 😊.
Same. I run a TRP Operator 5" in 10mm and absolutely love it. I carry it daily and put my Glocks back in the case, selling them, or sold them. I had my run with Glocks, but I grew up and put away childish things.
Amen , glocks are reliable but you just cant compare to a classic design.. the granddaddy of modern day pistols. I would love to see a torture test on a TRP just to see how it holds out
@@TexasPlinking it would probably do better than most cars but I’m not selling my car anytime soon. I’m also not going to completely bury my car in mud, that would be stupid.
@@gocloneyourself Oh another Glock apologist. Why can't Glock fanboys just admit that Glocks are not the end-all-be-all of the pistol world? 1911's are just as reliable just as accurate better looking and have a more honorable history than the Glock has ever had or will ever have.
@@JohnDoe-zg6fn haha. I like both, but Glock is definitely a more reliable design. If you based your opinion off this one video, yeah it sucks. There is a reason it’s so widely used by the most elite groups in our military. 1911 is better looking in my opinion and pleasant to shoot, but you are much more likely to find one with issues than a Glock
So when introduced to extreme conditions, they both failed as expected. Cool video nonetheless 👍 PS: I'm a 1911 guy, but I enjoy both. I do find it funny how reliable the 1911 was over the Glock, considering people bash the 1911 for malfunctions.
I'm a fellow 1911guy and what I have noticed when people bash the 1911 it's because (A) they don't know how to properly maintain it or (B) they don't possess the hand strength to run it reliably or (C) they don't buy good mags like chip McCormick or Wilson Combat Or (D) all of the above
Don't think that this is what's going to happen if you have to depend on a 1911 or a Glock. This test was flawed in so many ways. In fact I believe he actually sabotaged the Glock because he wanted to make a video about a 1911. Wouldn't be hard to make a Glock fail if you limp wrist, replace springs with used up ones. Poorly reloaded ammo. Etc.
Id Like To See This Test With The Glock 21 Chambered In 45 Acp Aswell Just For Lateral Sake Of Caliber But Overall This Is A Pretty Good Test Thank You For Sharing!
As a 1911 fan, not surprised by its reliability, however, I was surprised by the glock not holding equal to the 1911. Does reinforce my lack of enthusiasm for polymer firearms though.
and yet people still say glock guns never malfunction. Glock people need to see this video, Still cool and educational to watch though for experience and new gun people.
@@brandondavis4306 yep, me I would not buy a Glock. If I didn't have the money or didn't have a gun. Then I would buy a Glock for how inexpensive they are. But if some gave me a Glock I would sell it. If I was issued a Glock then I would use it. And leave it alone and carry my ccw when I'm off duty
I would love a 1911. Just scared that I don't know how it works. Like I'm afraid the hammer will go off or something. Beautiful gun though. Maybe one day
You carry a 1911 cooked and locked. In order for the hammer to drop the slide safety most first be disengage and then there is a second safety on the Backstrap that has to be pushed in. The gun will not go off inless you want it to.
@@joncampo1627 If by limited you mean over 30 years of military and law enforcement service around the world with some years shooting competitively with hundreds of thousands of rounds fired through several different firearms, then yeah, I guess I must have incredibly limited experience. It's an odd quirk of the human character to so readily assume that something new is automatically better...
That grinding noise as you rack the slide makes me sick, I don't think I could torture my guns on purpose. But that is a great torture test that cuts through marketing and frankly popular belief.
If it makes you feel better, I took them home and cleaned them well. You can’t even tell they’ve been through this haha. Slides on both are slick as ice
It was a good video but you also have to remember at the same time you're using a 45 versus a nine therefore the 45 has more recoil to it so it's obviously going to be able to reload itself easier now if you wanted to do an equal test of the two Glock and the 1911 you should have did the Glock 45 June 21 and the 1911
45 or 9mm doesn’t really matter. Glocks already have a good reputation for surviving the most gruesome environments. 45 will definitely make things easier for a firearm since it has more recoil but that doesn’t matter when feeding (which has nothing to do with recoil) is suffering. I think the Glock in this video just got unlucky.
I grew up on 1911's as my grandpa was a WW2 & Korean War vet who had 2 purple hearts and was part of the 187 Rakkasans. He saw alot of combat and was adamant that the 1911 was the most reliable semiautomatic handgun he had ever seen. In all the years we went shooting his 1911's never malfunctioned one time! Unfortunately I dont have a 1911 at the moment but plan on getting one in the future, the only thing holding me back is I live in Commiefornia and I dont want a 1911 with a magazine disconnect so I opted for a Glock 26 Gen 3 because neither the gun nor magazine has been modified for Commiefornias stupid gun laws. Its also the only Glock out here without a neutered CA approved 10 round mag unlike the G19, G17 ect. There is also a great video on RUclips where a green beret who used Berettas, Sigs, 1911's ect claimed the Glocks were the most reliable and the 1911 2nd in his experience on the battlefield. Honestly both are great reliable guns and you cant go wrong with either one but the 1911 will always have a special place in my heart and is my favorite handgun of all time! R.I.P Grandpa and thank you for your service and all the great memories you gave me! 🙏
I didn't realize Texas got snow. You just wanted to play in the snow with your guns didn't you. Thank you for trashing your guns for my entertainment. I love torture tests. I just can't bring myself to do it to my own.
Love both the Glock and 1911! But I think the only pistol that beats both is the Makarov. I own all 3 and the Makarov is easiest to maintain and keeps on shooting. The Russians literally took keep it simple stupid to heart.
The Mak is a phenomenal piece of hardware. I unironically carry it more than any other firearm I own. It's actually ridiculous how well it shoots. Even when you aren't trying really hard. Not to mention it's a blowback pistol so on top of simplicity, you can also make contact shots just like with a revolver. People complain about the heel release but in my opinion, it works well as intended. I do a lot of work in tight areas such as crawlspaces and attics, and it's nice to have that little extra boost of confidence in knowing that my mag isn't gonna pop out of my gun. Talk to any street cop who's been on longer than 10 years and I guarantee you that they'll have at least one story involving them losing a mag from their sidearm. Just another good reason to carry extras, and to always check your equipment. My good friend up in Alaska makes holsters exclusively for the Mak (and copies of it), and he actually dropped a moose with his via a double tap. One round went through the heart, and the other penetrated both lungs. As far as I know, it was just run of the mill ammunition to boot. On the flip side, I shot a feral cat a year or so back with my Colt Government Model. Not one, but two center mass shots with 230 grain .45 ACP HST hollowpoints. Both were lung shots. Not only was there hardly any blood, but that cat ended up surviving and I still see it walking around now and again - scars and all. That day - and the little anecdote about my buddy up in Alaska - completely solidified the truth about shot placement being what counts. You really can't bet on anything. Real life is weird.

At the time of the 1911 adoption it’s design was meant to stand the test of time with quality and function. The Glock did it cheaper 70 years later. The fact that the design principle of the 1911 is borrowed and used in almost any modern pistol is point proven on design quality.

Totally expected.
Glock are used all around the globe for two reasons:
One: they are cheap, like ground ass cheap.

Even though it was “just for fun,” you made a good observation.
you forgot about the materials what are made those guns
the 1911 are made with steel, and the glock with polymer

@@jslasher5330 Yeah, but it does mean technology isn’t developing as quickly as it did in the past. We’re 111 years since 1911.

I got nothing against other designs. I never truly understood the “hate” behind these pistols. If anything it’s astonishing how it’s design has hardly changed since it’s invention and yet it just works so well
I have seen some Glock torture test but I have never seen a Glock so much messed up!
Did you see him pack the inside of the hammer with mud? In the last video he filled it with sand, and it still shot perfectly...

This is a great test. This dispels some myths about the Glock. It doesn't make the tool bad, just the myths.
People make Glocks into these mythical demigods that never fail which isn’t true, still an excellent gun but it’s not without flaws.
1911s do need lube to function. My 10mm 1911 had FTF issues because when I was carrying it, the lube dried out and when I went to shoot it, it would jam once a magazine.
@@cjlane4465 Rock Island says it all...the cheapest 1911 you can buy
@@cjlane4465 never had a malfunction with my 1911 and didn’t have to spend much. There are cheaper guns than Glock that are just as reliable. I have a P365X with 5k rounds through it without a single malfunction. The reality is a single gun comparison a statistic doesn’t make. This video concludes nothing except a direct comparison of those two specific guns. At the end of the day, i would rather own a 1911 if i could only have one. Luckily, we can have both - I do 😊.
Awesome review thank you sir!!
The M1911 has been in production for over 110 years and there’s a reason for that.
I love my Springfield 1911 TRP .. I have a glock 23 in .40 its alright being the only glock in my collection
I would love to see a torture test on a TRP just to see how it holds out
Loved this! Nothing against polymer pistols, but the 1911 has been around for 111 years for an OBVIOUS reason! 😎
That’s ironically the same argument Amish people use for a horse and buggy vs a car
@@Bethehustler96 Can the Amish horse and buggy survive the mud test?

Add the P226 as well.
The first one was funny as hell 😂😂😂, this one is good too
The Glock is a little surprising honestly given all the hype
I’d take it with a grain of salt. There’s plenty of other videos to reference with different results. So many variables
@@gocloneyourself very true
@@JohnDoe-zg6fn A 1911 fanboy!
Gloktasticbois: “AUTISTIC SCREECHINGS”
So when introduced to extreme conditions, they both failed as expected. Cool video nonetheless 👍
PS: I'm a 1911 guy, but I enjoy both. I do find it funny how reliable the 1911 was over the Glock, considering people bash the 1911 for malfunctions.
I'm a fellow 1911guy and what I have noticed when people bash the 1911 it's because (A) they don't know how to properly maintain it or (B) they don't possess the hand strength to run it reliably or (C) they don't buy good mags like chip McCormick or Wilson Combat
Or (D) all of the above
Don't think that this is what's going to happen if you have to depend on a 1911 or a Glock.
This test was flawed in so many ways. In fact I believe he actually sabotaged the Glock because he wanted to make a video about a 1911. Wouldn't be hard to make a Glock fail if you limp wrist, replace springs with used up ones. Poorly reloaded ammo. Etc.

As a 1911 fan, not surprised by its reliability, however, I was surprised by the glock not holding equal to the 1911. Does reinforce my lack of enthusiasm for polymer firearms though.
I'm not surprised. I have 6 1911s. I still haven't been tricked into buying a Glock. This sure didn't change my mind.
Now put them both in a safe for 100 years and see which one doesn’t disintegrate when you pick it up.
Are you going to be alive in 100 years to check or shoot them?
Does that really matter? You will be dead before then. Your pistol should last about 50 years to actually be of service to you
My children will be.
My wife came down from the attic with some crumbs in her hand that was what was left of a garbage bag after a few years.
Guarantee the 1911 will still be good to go 100%
and yet why do I get a failure to feed every other round in a perfectly clean and oiled 1911?
Because your 1911 sucks?
and yet people still say glock guns never malfunction. Glock people need to see this video, Still cool and educational to watch though for experience and new gun people.
all they bring up is how almost all law enforcement use them but 2/3rds of them buy them because they are cheaper then the competiton.

@@charliemiller3399 that's actually reassuring. I'm assuming the cheap rock island armory works the same. I guess I'll give that one a try.

Think about this, the top end of the glock is John Browning. It is the grand child of the 1911. And grandpa still schools it
Both amazing firearms.
Yeah, based on my own experiences the Glock isn't objectively more reliable than the 1911...or Hi Power...or CZ-75...or just about mist anything else.

@@moistexistence3090 It matters a lot...
The ACP is pushing back a lot harder & slower.
@@elonmust7470 in my view it really doesn't matter. Both will do the same thing with different pros and cons.

This is to show you that Glock is not the greatest gun
Its actually not, its to have fyn:) this isnt an identical perfect test, things happen. In my opinion the best pistol out there is the SIG m17/m18:)
The Glock is a Cell Phone...and I can't wait for Next Year Model.
The Glock was reliable in the sense that it reliably became a bolt action pistol. 1911 all day every day.
I couldnt make up my mind on which was better… so i bought both.
Love both the Glock and 1911! But I think the only pistol that beats both is the Makarov. I own all 3 and the Makarov is easiest to maintain and keeps on shooting. The Russians literally took keep it simple stupid to heart.
Makarov is an ugly pos not to mention it is chambered in weak 9×18
