@nb1inheaven788 Depends on the year for the live versions. Dazed and Confused live changed over the years. In '69 is wasn't radically different to the studio. In 1970 it still wasn't very extended but by 1973 it was, and they threw lots of different things in there including other songs.
Led Zeppelin produced all of their albums, they had total freedom to create music. It only took them 34 hours to record their first album, and every song kicks butt!!
If you appreciated the emotional expression and blues in this song, highly recommend “Since I’ve been Loving You” live at Madison Square Garden (be sure to do the live version).
Whether it's accidental or on purpose, it's always a good day when you listen to Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin 1 was, in my opinion, one of the best debut albums ever. If a band could produce a song like this at their first attempt, then the future was very bright indeed.
I saw Led Zeppelin perform this song in concert in 1969 and 1970. It is not just classic it is epic! I have heard it or sung it in a band a hundred times and it still gives me chills
Loved your reaction. Not many people would have tied together the lyrics and the music the way you did -- very cool. Yes, Led Zeppelin will provide you many different iterations of their presence. Enjoy a good deep dive. 😊
I'm glad you enjoyed your first full Led Zeppelin song. This is a classic. Be aware that Led Zeppelin is not easy to categorize. They are blues, hard rock, folk and even funk, reggae and rock-a-billy. They've been my favorite band for years and I got to see them live a couple of times in 1977 when they played six nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Their influence is still very strong today. Many of my current favorites have at least a little Led Zeppelin influence (Rival Sons, The Answer, Dea Matrona, Madison Galloway just to name a few). I recommend their most popular song Stairway to Heaven. Also, Whole Lotta Love, Immigrant Song and Since I've Been Loving You.
Also: LOVE that you rewind after pausing! Too many reactors don't, and miss key transitions, or cool drum fills, or important lyrics, and the audience (us) is going "D'oh! Nooo! You MISSED it!" LOL
When playing live, Led Zeppelin would often improvise and extend their songs. Dazed and Confused was no exception lasting up to 30 minutes or more. For me the best example of this is from their live performance at Madison Square Garden in 1973 which was recorded for their film The Song Remains The Same.
Great reaction and comments, Jessie! I think you will really enjoy Zeppelin's catalog if you decide to listen to more of their music. Almost every song is different, but as soon as you hear it, you know that it is Led Zeppelin!
The Rain Song, No Quarter, Black Dog, Kashmir, When the Levee Breaks, Since I've been Loving You, Whole Lotta Love, Fool in the Rain, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, Achilles Last Stand, That's the Way, Going to California, The Girl I Love She's got Long Black Wavy Hair, What is and What should Never Be, Boogie with Stu, Bron-Yr-Aur, Down by the Seaside, Tangerine, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Battle of Evermore, How Many More Times, In my Time of Dying, D'yer Maker, The Song Remains the Same, Travelling Riverside Blues. Always fun to watch people discover them for the 1st time and realize; omg this is not what I was expecting! This band met and played together for the 1st time the day before Robert Plant (Lead Vocalist & Harmonica) turned 20 yrs old. This Album was recorded 6 weeks later in less than 36 hrs. of recording time. It was paid for by Jimmy Page (Guitarist and Producer), who was reforming The Yardbirds after they broke up in July 68. Their self-titled debut album was finished 1st week of October 1968, but not released until Jan 12th, 1969, when they had a record deal with Atlantic. Whatever you listen to next, you literally can't miss with these guys, they have over 100 tracks and not a bad one or filler song to be found. They are in the same league as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, Rush, Tool, Metallica etc... Only they were the literal trendsetters of the modern classic rock sound, influencing a lot of what came after them. Enjoy!
The early Zep here was very blues hard rock based, but by the third album they started getting more folk sounds thrown in. Blue grass, progressive, celtic rock, and experimenting deeper into funk and R&B and some soft rock as the 70's progressed. They only lasted about a decade. Like the Beatles, short lived but huge impact. This one was a cover of an earlier folk singer that guitarist Page helped do arrangements on while in the Yardbirds. It includes several sections where he plays the guitar using a violin bow. When the Yardbirds members left. He got rights to everything as he was left holding the bag. Found new band mates and Led Zeppelin was born. Most covers they did became more known for theirs because.. they were just better. Every members talent was unique and created a sound no one can touch.
You nailed it on the interpretation of this song. That relationship that he is in has left him Dazed and Confused and they certainly do convey that through the music. I'll be back for every Zeppelin reaction you do.
You are very, very keen. You can define one song as you did so well. The diversity in their library however is astounding. Keep listening and exploring. 😊
This song is a staple of theirs and every Zeppelin fan knows and loves it but it was not played much on the radio back then. It was too long and ahead of it's time. Most but not all of Zeppelins songs is a mixture of blues and rock. however, they are extremely diverse so you will hear many styles in their catalogue.
I've always loved Led Zeppelin, I was in my teen years in the 70's. Can't wait for you to go down this rabbit hole. Love the way that you appreciated it. Thankyou😃
The part when you said “ spiraling emotionally “ was where guitarist Jimmy Page uses a bow from a cello with his “ strumming “ hand very rapidly back and forth. 🎸 Those were the days of ingenuity before everything became a computer program 🔥
@@flowersafterrainfallAny footage of them playing it live would show his famous violin bow. Live on Danish tv, or the song remains the same movie for example. Also the shouting sound you hear in the background is some sort of tape bleed from another take with the singer (Robert Plant) shouting some different lyrics. You can hear that most prominently on the song Whole Lotta Love.
Led Zep are their own genre. Robert Plant is a unique vocalist and Jimmy Page did the most perfect guitar solos. The Rain Song is one of my favourites. I think you are a doctor of music. That's why I'm here and why I value your comments so much. Thank you.
Even today there are rock stations that play LZ at least a dozen times a day. If you like rock with a heavy blues influence, this is THE band. Glad you found them, and great reaction. Looking forward to see where you go next (spoiler: there are no wrong choices.)
14:47: The way you're swaying back and forth in your chair is the same way i experience the ending of this song. Also, kudos for listening to the song rather than being distracted by the visuals.
Led Zeppelin I and Led Zeppelin III are both on my list of ten best albums ever made. Not just no bad songs, not even any filler songs. Every one is a masterpiece.
Great reaction, Chatty, and u r lol. I wore out all LZ albums. Enjoy your LZ journey. Rush's favourite band called YES has a song called Roundabout off the Fragile album. Judging by your intellect, you'll love it. 70s music is brilliant, and divine ✨️🎶⚘️🎶✨️
just a fair warning, there are some of my reactions where i get pretty excited and pause a lot. some viewers find it a bit annoying at times. I'm trying to stop doing that, but i thought i'd warn you
First time for Zeppelin? What a banger to try right off the bat. A huge influence band, every heavy band that followed owes them. They have a ton of great songs, next, do the official video for Whole Lotta Love and enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶🔥
This is from their 1st LP 1969 which is as you say very blues inspired . Later they went more into poetic lyrics and heavier songs , but great ballads also . very nice reaction and interesting also thanks
Yeah . . . we were a philosophical bunch, back in the 60's and 70's . . . . . ALL of the groups and artists had something to say. Wait until you get to "Pink Floyd" . . . . .
The song is about a man distraught by a lover who doesn't treat him well, but he still passionately loves her anyway. I love Jimmy Page playing his guitar with a bow-it has a haunting effect. Listen to Stair Way to Heaven from Led Zeppelin IV 1971 and Kashmir Live from Celebration Day 2007. 36 years between the two. All of the Led Zeppelin songs sound familiar, even when you listen to them for the first time.
Welcome to the mighty Led Zeppelin! Great reaction! First off if you continue this journey, you will see that this band is incredibly diverse with a wide range of styles some which sound nothing like dazed and confused. Songs influenced by blues to Celtic to Eastern to acoustic to hard rock to country and everything in between! Also let me say that this was recorded in 1968 for their first album. Yes the lyrics are important and create a mood but they weren’t taking the lyrics so seriously back in the early days meaning that the lyrics were mainly a vehicle to carry the music. Robert Plant the vocalist was moaning while Jimmy Page was playing his electric guitar with a violin bow, not so much because the lyrics reflected that, but because it was fun to do! Believe me these guys had no problem with women, they were lining up down the hotel hallways! Looking forward to more Zeppelin for sure!
Those vocal bits you heard in the far background, are a by-product of the recording process at the time. Bands would often record the instruments with the singer doing a “guide track” for the band to know where they were within the song, and then re-do their vocal over the same track. The tape would often retain a trace of the previous take; if the band had done their initial take all together in the same room then there could often be faint traces of the vocal take “bleeding” through the mic’s used for the drums and guitar amps. This first Led Zeppelin album has quite a few instances of it occurring.

The intro to the live MSG of Since I've been Loving You is the best song into ever. Contrast of the best guitarist at pure rock and roll next to his blues heart.
1st time listener, look forward to the next listen. Great insight. Try you shook me or babe I’m gonna leave you This album should be listened to front to back
This song was written by Jimmy Page (Guitar) and the group The Yard Birds, the band that he was with at the time c1967. Up until Covid the Yard Birds still performed this song with the same power as this.
An amazing song from their debut album, from a band that was only together about 2 months, when they recorded this album. This band has more great songs then any other band, along with several masterpieces. Robert Plant with his amazing vocals, & yet the songs let the instruments have their time for great expression too. These 4 geniuses loved what they were doing, & gave their music passion, & fun where it belonged. They perform Rock Blues Folk Funk Mythical Prog & even a Reggae song. With four GOATS at their crafts in one band, & together The GODS Of MUSIC! Highly recommend going down their amazing rabbit hole, & take us on your journey. Thank you for your reaction. They were together from August 19,1968 until September 25,1980, when their amazing drummer John (Bonzo) Bonham passed away. They knew they couldn’t go on as a band, without their friend & bandmate, the greatest drummer ever. A great song that tell an actual story, of singer Robert Plant & guitarist Jimmy Page, driving across the desert to Morocco is Kashmir. You will love that song, if you do the live, I recommend live at Knebworth (1979).
Since you are interested in blues, A must see is Stevie Ray Vaughan live at the Elmo Combo from 1983 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦. It will blow your mind. Stevie is one of, if not the best, guitarists to walk the face of this planet.
The Led Zeppelin music catalogue is diverse and a lot of it. You mentioned do they do rock and roll. Listen to "Rock and roll" by LZ or "Whole Lotta love". Led Zepplin was concived from a Blues bannd called the Yardbirds so they have lots of blues songs. " Ten yeears bone by, when the levee breaks, since Ive been loving you.
Five suggestions: 1. Stairway to Heaven -- the band's most famous song, and arguably the greatest rock and roll song ever made. 2. Kashmir -- The *band's* favorite song, because it incorporates South Asian music with hard rock and produces something utterly unique and quite amazing. 3. Ramble On -- Robert Plant is a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkien 4. When the Levee Breaks -- The band covers a blues song originally written in 1929 5. The Immigrant Song -- The one that gave the band their nickname. "The Hammer of the Gods." If you like Marvel movies (or Shrek), you may have heard this.
Every Zep album has a different flavor. It's a record of their evolution as a band. I'd suggest doing a song from each of the first 4 albums and one from Houses of the Holy, then go back and revisit the albums as you like.
If you liked the emotion and bluesy feel of this song, you need to see "Since I've Been Loving You" live at Madison Square Garden. You will not only hear, but see all of the band members pour every bit of their emotion and soul into it, as they always do! It will make you want to see more of them!
One reason I think maybe the music was deeper back in the 70s and 60s when I was a kid, is because we didn't have social media and brain numbing stuff like that going on 24/7. When we would get an album we would sit back fire one up and listen to the whole thing several times. End music back in that day was so wide and varied and abundant compared to today. Sorry for the long post 😅 👍
A good interpretation of the song I think, good job, and nice to see you immediately get into the great music. On your observation about older music being more thought provoking, I'd say it's because more current music has become sadly, IMO, a corporate "product", and the goal is simply to make money, and in fact with spotify paying only a pittance for good songwriting, since about 2000, almost NONE of the top chart songs are from bands - they're from solo artists. A producer rigs up a sound track of some kind (keeping costs down), he doesn't care about thought provoking messages or content, he just tweaks a sound formula or two, throws in some choreography for your solo artist, and sends her out on the concert circuit, since that's where the money is to be made in music now. It's probably more about "stage show" than "music" now IMO. Not like that in the old days, everyone was focused on the music, the stage show was secondary. Bands hauled around huge amplifiers to ensure they had great concert sound, now they bring small amps and send them thru a crappy PA system at the venue! The music and sound are considered secondary, it's the glitzy dancing and show that is considered "important" now IMO. Heck, Taylor Swift lyrics don't even rhyme most of the time, she's a bloody amateur IMO as a songwriter, but she's a billion dollar "product". I watched a video this week showing her Eras tour was lip-synched to a soundtrack. Whereas, back in the 1960's, 70's, 80's, you had these REALLY, really talented musicians and songwriters who loved music, and inspired each other, and there was a lot of money to be made from selling actual physical records (LP's or Cassettes or CD's). So good song-writing was valued, and the hits were produced by BANDS, who played with and off each other and inspired each other to bring out the best of each other. And there was some idealism back then too that music could change the world for the better, and that I think made the music more exciting. You don't hear much of that in Led Zeppelin music, but you do in the Beatles and many other bands. Not sure that kind of optimism about the power of music to make the world a better place exists much now? It's a more harder, more cynical world now, and that leads to less music for the heart and soul IMO. It's too bad. But by all means, continue exploring the great bands of the 60's, 70's, 80's and the great songwriters, like Jackson Browne for example. Checkout his "Alive in the world" - ruclips.net/video/-P775crQIwo/видео.html or his "Fountain of sorrow" - ruclips.net/video/1OBYBsxDCzo/видео.html Or many, many others. He's my personal favorite songwriter.
Jake Holmes wrote and performed the original; Jimmy Page heard it while with the Yardbirds and added it to that band's repertoire. (I believe Holmes sued.) He carried it over to his new band; it appeared, beefed up, on the debut album.
You are too cute for school. And everything Led Zepp is the best prog rock band ever - and you have to have heard Stairway To Heaven - you need to watch them live on stage - and you are right, they have a lot of blues influence
Lots of late sixties artists were trying to create a heavier type of rock music. It would have happened anyway, but Led Zep got there first. I especially love their very early, raw live performances. Edit: the original was by Jake Holmes, you can Google it to hear how Zep changed it.
You should listen to the entire album because one song leads to another and fits as a follow to the one just heard. Your comments on how earlier music was more thought provoking and interesting is so true.
I highly recommend every Zeppelin song.

Live at Madison Square Gardens (1973), an absolutely amazing live performance.
YES!! Ditto!!
MSG 1973 live Zeppelin!!
I concur
The MSG performances from 1973 would be the best way to know what the band was really about. Great recommendation!
Can you believe this? It was released 56 years ago next month!!!!! Your grandparents (and me) rocked out to this then!!!
Yes we did, and we were serious about it, and we all played in bands trying to copy the uncopyable.
They're working really well on my magic mushrooms right now. I ate about 8 grams.

Theirs certainly was, & still is.
Remember, the thing about Zeppelin is every song is different. They even played their live songs different every night.
I highly recommend Since I've Been Loving You. The lyrics deal with similar themes to Dazed and Confused, but musically it is COMPLETELY bluesy.
I agree entirely, and I'd recommend you hear the album version BEFORE you hear the live version.
the call and response between bass and drum as well as vocals and guitar are what set this song apart

just a fair warning, there are some of my reactions where i get pretty excited and pause a lot. some viewers find it a bit annoying at times. I'm trying to stop doing that, but i thought i'd warn you
Brilliant, I hope you listen to so much more of the music of the '60s and 70s . We gleened so much of life that isn't heard today.
Saw them in concert back in 77' Fabulous music 🎶
Yeah . . . we were a philosophical bunch, back in the 60's and 70's . . . . . ALL of the groups and artists had something to say. Wait until you get to "Pink Floyd" . . . . .
That's up next. :)
Pink Floyd were good. Zeppelin were the best though - God level!
Title of the song says it all.
Led Zeppelin are one of my favourite Blues Rock bands Awesome
Rain song is another great track

I just found your channel, and glad I did! Really enjoyed your reaction overall including your interpretation of the emotional dynamic expressed with the lyrics and music. I think you strike a good balance between reacting and listening.
During the musical interlude you can hear Jimmy Page using a cello bow on his guitar! It's pretty amazing to watch live
The intro to the live MSG of Since I've been Loving You is the best song into ever. Contrast of the best guitarist at pure rock and roll next to his blues heart.
1st time listener, look forward to the next listen.
Great insight. Try you shook me or babe I’m gonna leave you
This album should be listened to front to back
this record is their bluesiest. their entire catalog kicks ass, but this is my fave. its also their debut. enjoy your ZEP journey.
Led Zep did quality, energy infused music with interesting lyrics, cool vocals and some psychedelic elements.
This song was written by Jimmy Page (Guitar) and the group The Yard Birds, the band that he was with at the time c1967. Up until Covid the Yard Birds still performed this song with the same power as this.
One of my all-time favorite led Zeppelin tracks is called "10 years gone". I know you will love it! 👍
You definitely need to start from the beginning and work through their catalog. Great reaction. I can't wait to see more.
You will find that they are masters at evoking emotional responses with their music. One of the very best.
Since Ive been loving you, LIVE has to be live version
You GOT IT !
I like your reactions to my music, you remind me of my daughter, quirky cute. ❤
Five suggestions:
Tolkien
4. When the Levee Breaks -- The band covers a blues song originally written in 1929
My favorite Zep tune is whichever one is playing at the time. These guys can't really be pigeon holed . Every album is different.
Good observation. Most of the British invasion guys loved the American blues scene.
Checkout his "Alive in the world" - ruclips.net/video/-P775crQIwo/видео.html
or his "Fountain of sorrow" - ruclips.net/video/1OBYBsxDCzo/видео.html
Or many, many others. He's my personal favorite songwriter.
no quarter refers to no refuge. they carry news that MUST get thru-they are not stopping and seek no lodging (they ask no quarter!
This is a good song.
You should listen to the entire album because one song leads to another and fits as a follow to the one just heard.
Your comments on how earlier music was more thought provoking and interesting is so true.
Oh man.. you gotta listen to the original audio of “Whole Lotta Love”!!
