My wife grew up never having heard Led Zeppelin (crazy, I know), but one night we sat down and took in some Led Zep on RUclips - we did live versions of 'Stairway to Heaven' 'Kashmir' and 'This performance.' Before we did so I said to her that when we were finished I would ask her which she would prefer - to sing like Robert Plant, or play like Jimmy Page. And so we listened together. When we were done I asked her the question. Her answer was 'to play like John Bonham' I have never loved her more!!
the rabbit hole , my friend and listened to all Led Zeppelin albums on vinyl in one day after a two day binder , best day and best band ever according to Jack Black
I'm 72, Led Zeppelin was my main early music influence. It's a joy to watch someone your age experience them the way I did 50+ years ago. It validates why I still listen to them. Still as fresh now as it was in the 60/70s.
Agree, I'm 73 bought their first album before it was being played on the radio. I was at Tower Records when the clerk was unboxing their first shipment of LZ albums and I saw this cover art with the Hindenburg on it and asked the clerk to hand it to me (I've always been in to aviation). Then I saw the name of the band and bought it immediately. When I got back to my dorm room and put it on the turntable I was blown away. All these years later and it sounds just as good today. True talent ages well!
Just like she said listen to that bass it's really strange that most people don't know that John Paul Jones was playing bass pedals with his feet while he was playing the organ how crazy is that for 1973 nobody matches that

Imagine quantizing this song. It would totally ruin it. And that’s what modern studio’s need to realize. Stop being addicted to ProTools and let music BREATHE.
I’ve listened to LZ so many times. I’m so thankful their music has filled my life with such passion and joy. As I age, I’m starting to think JPJ may have been the ultimate mastermind here. And with no ego. Absolutely incredible!
Yeah I get that looking at comments on every Zep video and all I can say is JPJ got his due and he essentially wrote most of ITTOD and it’s not the best Zep disc to come out and I prefer Coda better
I was at this concert. I was in high school and LED was the greatest rock band on the planet. All 4 members are GOATS and when Page brought them together as a band they became legends. I feel that you missed the fact that John Paul Jones was on keys during this song, so while he was on keys the great bass you heard was produced on his foot pedals. Their most popular songs are Stairway to Heaven and Kashmir but they all bang.
You were? Dang! Good for you! Convinced I was in that crowd but died, sometime after, had to pay for sins so reincarnated and nothing's been the same since :(
@SAC-ECM Lucky you!!! I was a young teen back in the 80s, when my best friend introduced me to "The Song Remains The Same" in one of those old-fashioned, balcony movie houses (Somerville Theater, Massachusetts), and it was a midnight show. While it wasn't live, we watched it on a BIG screen, and the crowd was heavily into it, so it almost felt live. From that moment, Zeppelin has been my all-time favorite band.
The depth of feeling and passion thats in this song is unbelievable. This band of musical magicians can never be topped. The arrangement and production is incredible. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever made.
Bonzo will never rest in peace, he is off on his stairway to heaven, being heavy handed with absolute authority in his drumming when called for, while softly guiding along at other times on the cymbals, and always, always, playing off of Page, and always, always being the heart and soul of the MIGHTY ZEP.
This is the music of my youth. 10 years old in ‘73. Never stopped listening to Zep. I’m excited to catch the beginning of your Led Zep journey. There’s so much more great music to come. It will all be intense and remarkably varied. Great reaction. Looking forward to more.
Mine, too. I was few years younger. Sounds like my older brother is your age and he turned me into Zeppelin as well as Rush, Queen and more greats. Zeppelin has always remained my favorite…never gets old.
The first time I heard this song was aged 14, just before Christmas 1970. It was the studio version from Led Zeppelin III. I was in a listening booth with some friends at a local record shop and they put on this and Out On The Tiles, which is the following track that ends side 1 of the album. I was blown away, bought the album there and then and still have it.
I was 17 yrs. and was there for both Friday and Saturday nights at MSG. During both Performances I did consume mushrooms and Cambodian leaf. In those days these "refreshments" were very common especially with bands like Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Since there were NO opening acts (common for Zep) the band played for as I recall 3+ hours due to Zep "Jamming"... their concerts were often lengthly. We did notice some filming going on, but had NO idea it was a full blown motion picture production. To say that Zeppelin concerts had a very magical aura about them is an understatement. Life changing is an appropriate terminology to use and I use it with much consideration.
OH my gosh YOU are so very very LUCKY!!! what i would NOT give to have been there! ive been in **MadLuv** with **MagicalOtherWorldlyGeniusLedZeppelin** & **MyBeautifulJimmyPageMagicalGeniusWizardBabe** since i was 8 yrs old They grabbed me by my **Soul** & NEVER let GO!!! Led Zeppelin is so damn good! Love their bluesy-rock, it'll never get any better than this! Girl, you found the greatest and no one could ever match them.
Ah, the 70's. When I first heard Zeppelin I felt that what I heard was unreal. I played the album twice. Did that often back then. When I saw them live in 75 and 77 I was left in a daze for days. Took an hour to believe it was them on the stage.
When I was in high school in 79', the movie "Song Remains the Same" was being played at the midnight movies on the weekends and we went almost every weekend. You didn't need any weed because you could just sit there and get a contact high. Good times.
I graduated in ‘89 and it was still being played in a local theater through high school. 10:30 every Saturday night. If there was nothing going on you could buzz run down to see song remains the same,…… or trip, the theater had a lava lamp looking screen that was up before the movie started, it was always a party.
The musicianship was apparent and these records sold as fast as you could unwrap the shipping boxes. I remember these things from a different slant, I owned 3 record stores in the U.S. so I was close to the pulse of the young generation that were our default buyers. Led Zepplin was totally unique in their material. Their guitarist, Jimmy Paige was unique in his approach to these songs that he had written. The whole band took the rock music world by storm, and the audiences responded with not just enthusiasm, but nothing less than adoration. All their musicians were virtuosos and their concerts and record sales reflected this new offering.
I love watching people really react, & you did! You looked right from the start as if you should have had a box of tissues standing by. Led Zep were blues based, with folk influences and a sprinkling of rock'n'roll + middle earth lyrics. Keep Reacting!
You could go see Zep a hundred times and never hear the same song played the same way twice. So much improv and jamming there that every concert was a whole new show. You don't get that too often these days. Most shows are well-rehearsed sets played the same way every time. Everyone is playing to the same click track, and sync'd up to the computers controlling the light show and stage effects.
The definitive last concert - Celebration Day is a concert film and live album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, recorded at the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert on 10 December 2007, in The O2 Arena, London. Crystal clear sound and vision.
I remember when I was 16 I and some friends were in a car getting loaded and listened to this song over and over... actually the whole album. The album was only 4 years old. It changed our lives. We formed a band and started writing songs..... This song is something else.... isn't it?
John Paul Jones played bass on the organ with his feet similtaneously while playing keyboard. What can we say bout Bonzo? So refreshing have a musician describe the musicality of Led Zeppelin. They were my fave group 1 of the best n I think Hillsong United is the xtian Led Zep! ❤
Led Zeppelin are just one incredible band with the unbeilavable drumming of John Bonham the bass of John Paul Jones the electric guitar of Jimmy Page and the Phenomenal voice of Robert Plant this is absolutely timeless classic and a real masterpiece
Nice reaction, First time? It was 1973, I was 13 at a friends house getting high. we were listening to the albums "The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get" and "Houses of the Holy". Both had just been released. He put Led Zeppelin 3 on, something I had never heard. It was a studio version but it was the first time for "Since I've Been Loving You".
In 1973, there was rarely a band that captured the music world like these chaps. Jimmy Page was a veteran studio guitar musician (as with John Paul Jones) with ten years of playing on other bands work of arts and in "68 all that experience he gained ALL just bursted out into finally doing things, his way. Possibly the first Supergroup, they all were in sync and performed at very high levels. I suggest buying "The Song Remains the Same'" on DVD, these RUclips clips are heavily edited, as was the filming of these 3 shows in Madison Square Garden, in the summer of "73. Thanks for the awesome reaction/analysis!!
Holy Cow at 2 things! 1) Holy Cow at your very in-depth review and breakdown of not just the music but the lyrics and thought-feelings too! Wow and 2) Holy Cow at YT because I've been following a YT breadcrumb train for over an hour watching different reactors reacting to this (your's is by far the best and deepest insight btw) and silly YT didn't even promote or recommend you so far... I literally stumbled into this after 8th or 9th reactor viewing this song! So anyway yep boarding this channel and pretty sure you'll take me on a wonderful journey! Thanks SO much for this, and this is 1st video I've seen! Brilliant! Thank you again! :)
I love your analysis. I was born in 1961 and was raised listening to Big band / Swing band music. My whole family has been involved in some kind of music with instruments. My first thought when I heard this was WOW music wise. I am always up for a good Led Zepplin song (or 2). If you were interested in hearing a different style of their abilities, try Going To California live from Earls Court. Just throwing that out there Have a great day
"Working from 11 to 7 every night" is a blues trope describing third shift work (most famously in the MOBY GRAPE song 'Never' which partially influenced this song). Plant flipped the numbers to make the song more personal, as the band had been touring constantly for two years... and sometimes performing concerts from 7 to 11 every night wore on the band.
I saw them in Houston for this '73 tour. opened with "Immigrant Song", closed with "Stairway to Heaven." Even better, I snuck in. That modern concert custom of holding up cell phones with lights on? back then, it wasn't safe to fire up joints when the cops could still see . So as soon as the lights went down, everybody fired one or more up. Both culturally and musically, the '60s started on November 23, 1963 when Kennedy was assassinated, and ended when Nixon resigned and Saigon fell. There was a decade of cruising after that until Disco began in the 80s.
Great reaction, Rosalie! Led Zeppelin, like many of the British and American bands who were setting out the parameters of rock at the time, were huge blues fans and thought of themselves as primarily blues artists. This is quintessentially the blues, but with a harder edge that would inform rock music from then on. For something a little different from Zep, you should check out Over The Hills And Far Away or Livin' Lovin' Maid.
Been listening to the Zeppelin since 1970. For a complete change of pace, feature 'Ramble On'. Listen to John Paul Jones on the Bass. One of his best performances.
Led Zeppelin is probably the all time favorite Rock/Hard Rock band in the world!!! Unlike Rush and technical by numbers, timing and feel. But Led Zeppelin is a complete all feeling and chemistry with each other. And each member is an ultimate musician. Awesome is the best word for them!!!
I was 16 in San Francisco in 1974; with three older brothers that turned me on to all of the best bands of the era. The first time I heard Since I've Been Loving You, I couldn't get enough of it, and wore out several albums, cassettes and CDs over the years since. Listen to the studio version, it's incredible.
I was 16 in 1973 and Led Zeppelin was a part of my teenage experience I remember listening to their albums in my room and being taken into another realm of peace and magic. I never got to experience them live since tickets were always sold out right away. I’m loving watching the live videos reactions and seeing how young people are blown away by this music. It was a reflection of the times for sure.
Led Zeppelin has been my favorite musical act for around 50 years. Their passion, musicianship, and especially their variety was unparalleled for me. I haven't ever been as moved by anyone else's music. Until I heard Ren.
@@TatjanaTomljenovic are you writing in Croatian? And maybe comparing Ren to Jeff Buckley? It's interesting because in Jeff Buckley, i hear both Led Zeppelin and Ren.
Yep, I was at the Zeppelin concert @ MSG in 1973, and it was the first live concert I ever attended, during my Junior year in High School at the age of 16. It was also by far, the best concert / live event that I ever went to.
Very good review and observations, and I very much enjoy watching your reactions to this music. This is one of my all-time favorite songs, and 45 years later, I still get chills down my spine when I hear it.
I was born 1953 ...so very lucky to hear the best music ever....I'm now 71 ....still love the 60 's ...70 's ..and 80 's
Zepplin was comprised of 4 absolute masters of their craft.
Two were star session musicians who played for a slew of the big pop & rock artists of the time! The other two were raw talent with some experience!
sweet & simple
Yeah Jimmy and I think Jones and then Jimmy decided he wanted his own band Hence Led Zepplin
Yeah, that’s key to Led Zeppelin
LZ - A perfect storm. Best band ever. EVER.

IMO there should be numerous great bands, Moody Blues, Early Santana, Zeppelin ,Steely Dan......
Spot on mate 😊
You are one hundred percent right, sir.
I’m 80 years old. Led Zeppelin was always a Northstar. You’re doing a great job.

There are many aspects of Led Zeppelin to appreciate, but one thing that gets overlooked is the way Page can evoke emotion from his guitar.

The way he played that guitar, he made it sound like it was singing the Blues. Classic sound.
You can see why those of us who were around when these guys hit the world and changed everything are still enthralled with them, and always will be.
RightON!!! MagicalBelovedOtherWorldlyLedZeppelinForeverInfinity&Beyond!!!
The king, the warrior, the magician and the lover. Led Zeppelin.
These guys were so young when they did this. So much talent at that age.
You know how to express yourself, and being able to express what we felt at that time is a real talent. You have passion and compassion.
Quite simply the best band....ever.
Im 76 and still love their music.
They were amazing live and wonderful on vinyl/ CD.
Zeppelin's bluesy rock. As a teen in the 70's, I would lie on my bed with headphones on and listen deeply to every Zeppelin song. It was pure bliss.
ELECTRIFIED BLUES!
I'm 70 still Rock n Roll!!!!!!!! Keep Rocking!!!!! Susie
I would smoke a bowl or two then put my Nova 90 headphones on and get lost in the music. I could listen to Page till the sun came up.
Some is hard rock n roll, some is soft rock n roll. They were all over the spectrum. Narrowing it down to one genre isn't possible. Much like Pink Floyd they covered all aspecs of rock n roll. In the end it was just the massive tallents of four Englishmen on display for the world to observe.
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band.
That bass you heard is JPJ playing bass pedals in this song while playing the keyboards...
People comment on this a lot. Foot pedals are very VERY common on organs and there are little old nuns all over the world using foot pedals on organs every Sunday. Not a biggy ;)
Super common. I agree...people are amazed at something centuries old
@@sonnymaupin9267 Base pedals are NOT the same as foot pedals. Its a separate instrument, a stand alone synth in a bass range.

That’s why zeppelin is the best ever!
Next: 'No Quarter'
One of my favorites!!!
Live please
What a wonderful reaction. Hope you'll do way way more LZ. They are the epitome! Thank you. ☮
I love you for understanding thank you you said it best
Wow
and 2) Holy Cow at YT because I've been following a YT breadcrumb train for over an hour watching different reactors reacting to this (your's is by far the best and deepest insight btw) and silly YT didn't even promote or recommend you so far... I literally stumbled into this after 8th or 9th reactor viewing this song!
So anyway yep boarding this channel and pretty sure you'll take me on a wonderful journey!
Thanks SO much for this, and this is 1st video I've seen! Brilliant! Thank you again! :)
Thank you very much!!! :) glad you found the channel. Enjoy the content. Stay tuned for lots more
I love your analysis.
Now = Taylor Swift, Then = Led Zeppelin 🤘 How truly sad the state of music has progressed
Can't talk about it on. j T destruction of creativity
Nothing wrong with TS. You just aren't the target audience and you will never have experience with the inspiration for her themes.
Two totally different genres. Don't knock TS, she's the real deal for what she does.
No Quarter from the same concert is an absolute must
You have to check out the version of Dazed and Confused from this same concert…. Absolutely mind blowing!
Great reaction, Rosalie! 👏
It was an amazing time to be alive with all these amazing bands and artists. Just wild.
Just stumbled across this one again... the expressions on your face were perfect 👍😂
I saw LED Zeppelin perform this song live in Kansas City in 1970. I was 22 years old.
First time seeing led Zeppelin was in 1969 1970 and all three nights at Madison square garden 1973. Best freaking band ever
Been listening to the Zeppelin since 1970. For a complete change of pace, feature 'Ramble On'. Listen to John Paul Jones on the Bass. One of his best performances.
I enjoyed your reaction so much this is the third time I have watched.
My father was born in 1945 in England . My grandfather was a B22 pilot in WWII. I was born in 1969 and grew up listening to Led Zeppelin.
Just subbed. This is the sexiest performance I've ever seen 😍 Stairway to heaven from this concert is fire. Peace out ✌️ ☮️
Did you need a cigarette afterwards...lol...Just kidding, most people our age don't smoke anymore..
Led Zeppelin has been my favorite musical act for around 50 years. Their passion, musicianship, and especially their variety was unparalleled for me. I haven't ever been as moved by anyone else's music. Until I heard Ren.
Agreed 100%.
@@TatjanaTomljenovic I really wish I understood what you're saying.
@@TatjanaTomljenovic are you writing in Croatian? And maybe comparing Ren to Jeff Buckley? It's interesting because in Jeff Buckley, i hear both Led Zeppelin and Ren.
Pitam se zasto mi se Renova glazba približila nakon dugo godina provedenih s spomenutima
My first 8 track album was Led Zeppelin, 1968. I had it custom recorded.
The version of Dazed And Confused they do at this concert is awesome!
Yep, I was at the Zeppelin concert @ MSG in 1973, and it was the first live concert I ever attended, during my Junior year in High School at the age of 16. It was also by far, the best concert / live event that I ever went to.
WoW so very LUCKY!!!
I think it's one of zeppelins best performance. I was in tears feeling his emotions. Thanks Hello from Pa USA 🇺🇸 ❤❤❤
Very good review and observations, and I very much enjoy watching your reactions to this music. This is one of my all-time favorite songs, and 45 years later, I still get chills down my spine when I hear it.
"the futures uncertain and the end is always near!” -Jim Morrison, Roadhouse Blues ( The Doors)
That concert film is one of the best live performances ever.
