    This is from the movie "The Song Remains the Same" which features the filmed fantasies of each member of Led Zeppelin, during the live concert footage. This one was Jimmy Pages fantasy of finding himself as an old man. Robert Plants fantasy covers two songs together "The Song Remains the Same / The Rain Song" as a kind of Knight rescuing a maiden in a tower. John Paul Jones is a spooky fantasy with an excellent ending and John Bonham's is purely just of him in real life, racing in a souped up vehicle that needs a small parachute to slow it down. The movie begins with their manager Peter Grant's fantasy....A sort of Al Capone shoot em up video. Peter Grant changed music history for all bands. Promoters always got 90% cut of the takings leaving the band just 10% to do live gigs.....Peter Grant came along and said he wants' 90% for his band....Promoter said no .....Fine then we don't play ...bye bye !!! ....Wait !!! It's Led Zeppelin !!! ...They gave in knowing the stadiums would be filled....From then on word got around and eventually bands got the higher cut, thanks to Peter. He was someone you don't cross or mess with. He protected Led Zeppelin......Jimmy Page was in the Yardbirds before forming Led Zeppelin....and there is film of the Yardbirds doing "Dazed and Confused" live in black & white on stage and Jimmy using the violin bow. Yep he wrote that song when in the Yardbirds.....in the 1960's !!! The dvd "The Song Remains the Same" has been remastered with added tracks. ....Wait till you get to see from this concert, the full live version of "A Whole Lotta Love" with Jimmy using the Theremin. Wow !!!

    That sequence in the middle represents The Hermit from the Tarot deck, which is a symbol of seeking spiritual enlightenment. The same image of The Hermit was added to the inner jacket sleeve of Led Zeppelin's fourth album. In the movie The Song Remains the Same, each band member has their own "music video," and this one from Dazed and Confused was Jimmy Page's video. You should also check the sequences for Robert Plant (he does a video for The Song Remains the Same and The Rain Song), and John Paul Jones' video for No Quarter.

    The little bit I know about the story is just that on the inside cover of Led Zeppelin 4 when you open it, it shows the man in the robe holding a lantern at the top of a hill. I don't remember seeing anybody climbing up, but it seems they wanted to recreate that album art for this movie. The MSG set of concerts were released as a concert movie on VHS and then years later as a DVD. The name of the VHS and DVD is The Song Remains The Same.

    Yes, that was a violin bow. Guitars aren't made to work with them (due to the round-wound strings and flat bridge), but he made it work really well. Violin family instruments are flat wound, so the hairs don't get caught in the strings. But most guitars (this one included) use round-wound strings, which really trash the bow hairs (look at how many broken hairs it has by the end of the solo).

    • @judebox1185
      @judebox1185 18 дней назад

      Definitely too big to be a violin bow, I think its a cello bow. The reason guitars dont work with them properly is because the bridge is flat, not arched like a violin

      @@judebox1185 I actually play violin, viola, and cello, so I have bows for all three.
      That being said, you are correct that double bass bows are even shorter and thicker than cello bows. The bow length is based on the string length and playing position. Violins and violas need the longest bows because they have the shortest strings and are played horizontally on the shoulder. Cellos are much bigger and played vertically between the legs, so they have a shorter bow. Basses are much bigger even than cellos, so they have the shortest bows.
