Buying a 7.3, this was super interesting
No need to ever apologize for a long video. If it’s entertaining or informative we will watch any length. The reason most long vids get crapped on is because they’re boring or full of filler. Not the case with your videos thank you for your time and knowledge.
As a new owner of a 7.3, I say thanks!!! Would have never known their were different injectors!!!
Same! So much info from this channel on our trucks :)
If I had a 7.3 this would be a good video to watch
Glad you think so. Didnt orignally plan on it being half an hour long haha and there still parts I totally forgot about.
Careful Tow. The 7.3's get in your blood. I'm on my second (wrapped the first around a tree) and will never have any other truck.
Super helpful man I bet alot of people's questions were answered I know mine were thanks
Lots of good info! I had no idea they went that large with later model 7.3s.
Love the content bro. First video here. Just bought my first 96 7.3.
have you guys noticed how much time this man has spent responding to all these questions? and to put out this many facts.. spend a sec and give thumbs up
I really appreciate it man!
The natural reaction to the wasp earned the subscribe. 😂
Thank you for this video, very informative and worth every moment! Thanks for the list of products.
Great video. I just bought a 2002 7.3. You're giving me alot of good info to digest. I want about the same as you. A daily dependable driver that will put out between 350 to 375 hp. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for following the channel!
Thank you, learned a lot.
Great info as always thanks❗️
Great video sir very informative
Appreciate the info. Could’ve listened for another half hour.
Just love my 2000 F-250 Lariat 4X4 W/ 7.3... Using TS 6 stage chip. Bought it new and in 2003 we rebuilt the top end using HI AC 444 injectors, Banks intercooler and turbo upgrade and she's been rock solid truck :) Starting to have old injector issues on cold starts and may either go for a set of RiffRaff injectors... But there are shim kits at $75 that fixes the issue
Another great informative video content! I watched all the way through & I have a 6.0. You gave a lot of really great information & how you made your decision for the type of injector for your truck. As always enjoyed your channel, be well!
Much appreciated!
Awesome info... I have a 99 7.3 with the entire 6 pack BANKS kit, Banks Brake, Banks Torque Converter, full exhaust. Actually teamed with Gale Banks on this project as I wrote articles in Diesel Power and Trailer Boat magazines about the Power and torque increases on a dyno. BUT... the only thing we didnt do was mess with the injectors. After viewing your very informative video here.. I will invest in the T44E set and it should be the "cherry on top" modification to the whole project. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND RESEARCH on the subject
One of the first things I did to my truck which I bought new in 2000 was put a fuel X-0ver between the fuel rails so they weren't dead-headed and then replaced the long #8 AE injector with an AD like the other 7 injectors. This killed the "cackle" and increased mpg as well as power.
the connecting cable is the same? I am interested in doing it too. my truck has a knock on cylinder eight
@@TUNDE264 Yes, the only thing you change is the injector. Just make sure you don't get any oil in the cylinder while changing over. Don't want to bend a rod.
Thanks bro!
I've noticed multiple AD injectors have a different color cap. Does this matter? Needing to replace #1. 2000 f-350 7.3. Thanks. Great video
@@HALF-ACRE2014 I dont think so. There are so many companies rebuilding and manufacturing them, they may just use different colors, but I honestly can't be sure. If the part number matches, you should be good.
I watched the entire video. You answered all my questions. Best video I have seen for the info I was interested in. Thanks.
I am glad you found it helpful! I tried to answer all the main questions that I once had myself. Thanks for watching!
Damn nice tutorial on stroker stiks
We thank you. Hope you never lose that passion and continue sharing your knowledge with us.
Clay at riffraff is one hell of a good man.
Straight forward, no bs, he knows way more about what you need than you do. My 02 is way mo bettah now thanx to him.
Thank you. Clay is an awesome guy with a great company!

Thanks, Like a few of the other guys, Mine is fine thus far, hopefully it will stay that way.. I have 325,000 mile, Starts on the 1st bump of the starter, no issues. BUT, I know something is lurking out there in the maintenance because of age..
You have no idea the help you give us out here. Thanks again..
Mine is an early 99.. Heck I trust this truck so much, I should be buried in it!!!
It was very helpful
That's the calmest reaction to a wasp that I've ever seen.
Haha they smell fear

What a VERY AWESOME informative video... I learned alot. Thank you so very much my friend
Glad to hear it!
Thankyou.
You should be sponsored by Rifraff & Ford.
Thanks man. Very thorough.
just bought 1994 7.3 has leaking injectors found information very helpful thanks
Glad it helped
Great video. Thank you!
Watched ALL of it after the injector install video. Will need this info soon as my 7.3 has 292K miles on it.
Knowing the spec's is good, especially in relation to fuel delivery pressure is always a plus. I've learned
from modifying Class 8 Heavy Trucks & from fuel injected gas engines...the key to complete
combustion "Atomization & Fuel Spray patterns which deals with nozzles. You hit on good points
like certain Injectors deliver a lot of fuel. You got me wondering if I could further verify what you said
about the single shot injectors. I have been thinking about building an injector test bench where I send
a signal for the infector to fire a pattern on some cardboard to get a baseline. Then you get all 8 to fire
the EXACT same pattern on cardboard cards. These tests are the same as the injector tests we do on
the Detroit Diesels. This is not an argument about injector knowledge...but something to look @ when
Inspecting new or Re-built ones. You just sparked my interest in what it takes to truly tune & dial in
injectors. Keep up the good work.
Aloha, Chief

That would be a very interesting test to see!
thanks bro you got great input
Thanks for the detailed breakdown. I appreciate it.
Thanks for all the info.
Great video and "roger that" on the RiffRaff crew, great company to do business with. I'm running a lot of their gear on my 2000 F250.
You are the best !
Much appreciated!
Great video, thanks for doing all the homework on injectors! Thank you
There is a crossover fuel line aftermarket system to marry the 7&8 injectors that helps the #8 have plenty of fuel. I put one one my truck as I tow heavy uphill. I can link it if anyone cares...
If you have link that would be great! Might help someone out.
Wow great video lot of information that I did not know definitely worth the 29 minutes I'm still running stock injectors at 312,000 miles and I have been putting it off due to lack of funds and deciding on which ones to go with as well this information has helped me decide on what I'm going to go with on my daily driver and you are right dependability is above all for me as well so stock AC code injectors it's probably the way I'll go and I did not know about the single shot not use them as much high pressure oil as well so like I said great video great information thanks again talk soon
Glad the video helped out a bit!
As a relatively new diesel guy. I really appreciate your information. I have a high mileage 7.3 approximately 420k. I believe it still has the stock injectors but was wondering on how you verify the HPOP pressures? I’m thinking it’s going to need injectors in the not too distance future but for now it runs fairly well. Just trying to plan ahead. When would you replace a HPOP? With my mileage I was leaning on doing it with the injectors but not sure. Thanks again for your video.
I have a cts edge monitor(they make one that's same thing and 100$ more that also tunes your truck) on my 02 7.3 and it sits on my dash and allows me to see every single readout the the computer is able to see including icp, ipr, true Trans temp (which you need if you have stock Trans cooler and plan to tow anything) and pretty much everything. I love it. There's also one that does the same thing called auto enginuity that goes on your computer don't know if that one's any cheaper but another option.
Just to add on for your differences in the E99 and L99 the turbo on a E99 is smaller it has a tp38 with a waste gate and also as a smaller x pipe and 2.5inch plenums while a L99 has a gtp38 turbo with a waste gate and a bigger x pipe and 3 inch plenums
Good info! Thanks for adding on!
Buddy, you are an amazing, down to earth RUclipsr and I’ve really enjoyed learning from your very informative videos! I plan to take this knowledge and tackle replacing the injectors on my 1999, 325k mile, virtually never touched, 7.3. I purchased it new and honestly can’t see any reason for replacing this truck with anything else anytime soon.
Super info. Thanx !
Great info. !!! Can you do a video on replacing the wire harness, cups and glow plugs while replacing the injectors since all that will be accessible.
I dont plan on doing cups any time soon, but I do have a video on replacing the injectors, harnesses, and glow plugs.
Thank You for all the Great Info. I am hoping to Buzz Test, then Contribution Test my injectors soon. I have an EARLY- 1999, so should have AB set. Yet to pull my Valve covers to confirm. Question .... I clicked the R-RAFF link where you purchased and the description NOTES say :: "CUSTOM TUNES Required " for those ALLIANT _AC.. Do I need to send IDM or something to Offsite ASE Tuner ? I am considering a set (or partial ? ) of these ALLIANT AC . Thank You
AC injectors are single shot injectors. So in order to run them on your super duty you will need tuning to do so. You don't need to do anything with the IDM. The best tuning solution out there is the Hydra tuner. It connects to the PCM. I actually put a video up of installing one on my channel not too long ago.
@@LivingOnWheels Thanks for your quick reply. I will likely have a look at that recent TUNER video. I am leaning toward stock AB injectors though, mostly because remanufactured are still easily sourced. I am an older guy who generally drives few miles, and stock parts fulfill my reliability Needs . Thank You again !
Awesome job on that video. Im in the market also, it gives some food for thought to what direction I want to go. So thks so much. And I love Riff Raff also, great company, again thks for sharing..
Glad to hear it was useful! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for all your information Joe 😊👍
Good injector video. I especially liked the nozzle size explanation which cleared up some confusion. Find some shade!
Glad to hear it helped a little!
Another Great video! Thank you.
Thanks for the info
Did you get your PCM flashed for the AC injectors or are you running a chip?
Running tunes for them on a hydra chip.
Watched it and saved it.
Great video!
FYI: www.powerstrokehelp.com just put out a video on automatic transmissions welding their shift plates together if the ground wiring is faulty.
Great video!! Thanks for including 7.3 international info!! I have a rv built on 96 bus, with 7.3.
Thanks for watching!
Thank.s
I did the 160/0 single shots in my e99.
I also had the 1.0 turbine housing put on with a few customs tunes from BTS . And I get about 23mpg at 70 mph. And around 14-16 back and forth to work
jacob wenneberg what are the specs on your truck?
@@LivingOnWheels e99 f250 4wd zf6 , 305 70 16. 278k miles.
3 inch straight pipe exhaust, and a 6637 air filter, wastegates been deleted. It had a boost regulator.
Jacob, it sounds like we have the exact same truck and I haven’t found a lot of info on RUclips about it! I just added the PHP hydra chip to my truck and I’m interested in doing more mods. Did you notice any performance gains when you upgraded injectors? Also did you get an entirely new turbo or did you just upgrade the turbine housing?
Awesome info. Riff raff should sponsor you..
A person can lose a lot of weight in a hot car. As long as you don't pass out.
I've been considering going to a little bigger injectors. I think you gave a lot of good information. I would be inclined to go with the IHC Injectors. The day I watched your video I had a interesting conversation with a older gentleman who retired from Catapiler as a engineer. He was involved with the development of the HEUI fuel system. Since I had worked around a Frieght company with Catapiler engine's we had a interesting conversation about my 7.3 and injectors.
I've meet some interesting people while wintering in Texas. A nother guy stopped by last year while i had the hood opened and he told me he worked on the assembly line that built my 2001 F250.. Well Anyway keep up the good work keeping us informed about the 7.3s . I'm 66 and plain on keeping my rust free truck till I can't drive anymore, At least a nother 20 years.
Thanks!
Per Ford, 96/97 7.3's in California actually have split shot injectors. AB code.....
Just got my hands on a 97 7.3 and I’m about to replace my injectors and I’m torn between going stage 1 or 1.5 or keeping it stock🤦🏽♂️
Well I cant give too much help there. It's mostly personal preference. ACs are nice but they arent like crazy power houses. Still better than stock. Bigger you go the more you start factoring in other parts.
Is it a Federal or Cali truck the Cali trucks already have 120cc split shots better than the federal AA injectors 90 cc but those are single shot which is preferred.
Very informative. Thank you!
Very good content! I have bough a lot from Rifraft , they are good people to deal with!
Are single shot injectors really that much louder than split shot? My wife already hates how loud this truck is haha!
Loving fixing up the '01 7.3l that I just recently bought, and channels like yours and Nick's have been super helpful!
Ummmm... hate to tell yah but it’s a pretty noticeable difference haha.
I appreciate it. Nick has a great channel too
Another great video
With those AC injectors what did it do with your MPG
My mpg stayed about the same.
It looks like on Riff Raff’s site the AC injectors require a custom tune. Is that specific tune available on the PHP Hydra? Or is that an additional purchase that needs to be made?
All single shot injectors require custom tuning on super duties. I believe PHP has tuning for single shots but I am not positive. I bought custom tuning
Great Video Thanks. I have a question. Taking your situation as an example. When you installed your A-C code injectors...did you still have to install 1 A-E injector in number 8 cylinder ???? And, if not.....why not ?
Nope. There really is no need for the long lead injector. You can technically through any of the 1-7 injectors in the 8 spot and it would run fine. The purpose of them was to help with noise and fuel knock in the #8 spot. They didn’t even use the LL injector till the superduties. So as far as upgrading to aftermarket injectors go, there’s no need for a special #8 injector
@@LivingOnWheels ah huh ! Thanks Bunches
This just answered my question :) great video and a huge help. Love watching your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Im in need of the #7 replaced on my 03 so im thinking about trying the switch to the AC code injectors myself.
What if you put two ab injectors in a stock95 idi
I am getting oil in my tank and the truck shut down no hypop pressure and No oil on dip stick .seen two AB renewed injector kits for 100dollars close to house for sell.Opinion
ABs are split shot injectors and won’t run properly in an OBS. 95 truck won’t be an idi, it’s a powerstroke. If you’re getting oil in your fuel it’s probably your injector o-rings.
Did you notice more cackle switching to the single shot style? Also is the 15 degree HPOP conducive for AC style (early 99 PSD) or would I still want to upgrade to a 17 degree pump?
Definitely a noticeable increase in injector cackle with the single shots. I do believe the 15* degree pump should be alright with the AC codes but I imagine unless it’s in good shape it might not quite be able to fully keep up with them.
Once again big thumbs up on a great vid. Thankfully, knock on wood, my injectors are fine for now. But when they go, you've given me great food for thought, but the AC's seem like a nice safe way to go while still getting a performance boost.I agree about Clay at Riff Raff. Straight shooter, very helpful.
Great info. I’m trying to get all the options I can about the best injectors to put in my 02 7.3 with 210K for best towing performance.
LOTS and LOTS of variable haha. Budget helps narrow it down a bit.
Living On Wheels 2 - 3 K
Lee Beaman with that I’d probably say stock ACs or ACs with upgraded nozzles. That budget doesn’t allow much for supporting kids of bigger injectors. Whichever you go with I think you’re gonna want to upgrade your turbo in one way or another. Especially for towing purposes.
Living On Wheels I was planning on a new blade. Depending on my bonus this year I might be able to push the budget. Suggestions without getting deep into the heads? BTW wasp spray LOL
A new wheel would probably be a good upgrade for going with those injectors. I don't know the combinations and pairing the best though. If you called KC turbo, 1023 diesel, or Jelibuilt they would all be able to give you better recommendations from experience.
And yeah haha. It was middle of summer and I was parked next to the old farm truck which the wasps just love haha.
Great Video! I own an OBS 7.3 and my priority, like you, is reliability - perhaps better fuel economy or a little more power, but reliability is the main objective. According to your video, I have a single shot AA injector. Would upgrading to a stock AD (AE for #8) split shot injector provide a little more power and better fuel economy while maintaining reliability? Also Would it be a good or bad idea to try and find these from a junkyard car?
GREAT video, super informative, Thank you!!!
per Ford....if you're in California, 96/97 have split shot injectors........
@@sldghamr1 what about Canadian trucks?

I have a 2001 excursion with 7.3 . I think I am going to need injectors soon if not now. When I go from AD to AC is the any pcm or electronic programming needed since it is going from a split shot to a single shot or are they just drop in replacement and go? Love the videos. I have a Duramax that is my man toy hot rod. The excursion is the oversized family rig. Lots of kids and a couple dogs😁 thanks again Joe
You will need custom tuning. I recommend a hydra chip with tunes from 1023 Diesel.
Great info and very clear explanation about injectors. Just picked up a 96 7.3. What is the avg life span of AC code factory injectors? Thanks again for a great vid.
That’s a kind of hard question to answer. Depends entirely on how well they are cared for. Lots of people have gotten 200k-300k from factory injectors. Good supply of clean oil and fuel and they should last a long time.
Good vid you rock Joe I have picked up alot of good info on your channel I want a truck just like yours so clean maybe some day they rot out bad in MA not many nice ones around here, want a clean one like yours and keep it clean .Eastwoods oil bases under coating works good for around here.Great job Joe.Wish we were close I would love to wrench with you.Maybe some day . What's the consensus on putting ac injectors on an otherwise stock truck. Stock turbo hpop all that. Does it make sense? Just intake and exhaist
They would be a nice upgrade. Biggest thing would be watching egts if you’re pushing it hard
Good information. I have started looking into 160cc injectors and a tune. My 7.3 is mainly used to pull the camper. Now I'm looking for info on 30% over or stock nozzles. I'm not after hp like most. Im looking for efficiency and EGT's that would melt the engine down when climbing a grade.

Great video, thanks for all the detailed info. You mentioned a difference on #8 injector. I've got a 2000 7.3 and the #8 injector ticks or "knocks" more loudly then the rest. I've replaced the O rings on the injectors but didn't help the tick/knock. Do you think replacing that one injector would be the solution to get rid of the tick? Also looking at a regulated fuel return system. Thanks for all the video content. Really enjoy the info you provide. And, Rifraff is a fantastic company. Buy all my parts there. Keep up the great videos.
The #8 injector knocks because it gets a little bit less fuel than the rest due to fuel flow and firing order. The injector is different because it is a Long Lead injector to try and help reduce that knock a little bit. The knock itself isn't exactly a bad thing it just is what it is. Replacing the injectors wouldn't help. The regulated return will make a noticeable difference and an oil crossover will make a noticeable difference. I did both of those and it was very noticeable.
@@LivingOnWheels Thanks for the info. I did install a Rifraff oil crossover and no noticable difference. Will try the frx and see how it responds. Keep up with the great videos.
Should I get a better HPOP to run single shot 180/30 injectors?
Do you need it? Probably not if your current HPOP is healthy. Would those injectors benefit from a sting upgraded HPOP? Probably.
Did you need a program going from split shot to single shot injectors?
Yes
With the AC coded injectors, do you need a tuner for it to run correctly on an 02 f250?
Yes you would need a tuner for it. The superduty's computers are programed to run split shots. Switching to any size of single shot would require custom tuning. Even upgraded single shots in the obs trucks could still benefit from custom tuning. I do have friends that run upgraded single shots untuned in their obs though.
Living On Wheels thanks for the reply. I love this channel. You have wonderful information and the content is great. Keep up the amazing work.
Thank you for following along!
@@LivingOnWheels where would your recommend getting a tune for it? Running ac injectors that is
Did the smoke at startup change at all as in more? What other changes did u see?
Smoke on first startup is always more after swapping injectors. I’m the first 50 miles or so the air bleeds out and it runs smoother. The truck had a noticeable bump in power with the new bigger injectors.
Is that all the time or did it go away after a few miles?
@@desmvp the main smoke went away just after startup it’s just burning off the oil and fuel that drain into the cylinders
97 international, would number 8 injector be different?
I don’t think so
Hey Joe, just wondering if you read any info on EGTS with the different size Injectors. I thought I read somewhere about it, but was wondering if you had more info on it. Thanks.
That is something I totally meant to put into the video and after an hour of rambling to the camera, I totally forgot haha. This is gonna be hard to explain in just a comment. I will give you my best understanding of it all. Obviously, when you're adding more fuel you are increasing the EGT ability. Now there are some variations to this rule. If you're going with bigger injectors, a larger nozzle can actually help decrease your EGTs at higher rpms compared to stock nozzles. This is because there is a specific window of time in the cylinder stroke that is best for optimizing fuel burn and as the rpms go up that window gets smaller and smaller. Larger nozzles allow the injectors to empty faster and to put more fuel into that specific time zone where smaller/stock nozzles cannot because they take longer to empty. That being said, smaller nozzles tend to drive and perform a little better at the lower rpm ranges, but just can't always meet the demand of a long hard pull. Also, some injector sizes are easier for tuners to write tunes for and so that has some play in it too. Proper tuning is one of the BIGGEST factors in all of these things because 7.3s have so much electronic adjustability.
My biggest recommendation is to get in touch with one of the big tuners and let them give you the run down because they will know these exact details inside and out.
Did you use AC code injectors for all 8? And did you have to tune your truck?
Yes and yes. Super duty trucks need custom tunes to run single shot injectors.
Can you put 99 injectors in a obs?
As far as I am aware. No, not without custom tuning for split shots
Wondering if you could give me a piece of advice. I picked up an engine with 4 out of 8 injectors and injector 1 was ran maybe 20 seconds without any seals. And now after having the truck all buttoned up I have a cylinder one contribution code. Do you think the seat for the injector is damaged or the injector is trashed ? It passed the buzz test but I don’t trust it. I also here a small knock but the average person wouldn’t here it . I’d appreciate it if you could get back to me. Thanks
hmmmm. Im sure that wasnt great for it but I wouldnt imagine that would kill the injector. It would have just cause the oil and fuel to mix. By seals do you mean the O-rings? How about the copper washer?
.
In regards to the injector knock, it is not uncommon for perfectly healty trucks to have slight injector knock. It is usually the number 8 injector causing it.
THE INJECTOR knock IF it's loud is LACK of fuel
If I buy AC code injectors for my 00, would I have to buy a tuner?
Yes. Any superduty will need custom tunes to run single shot injectors.
@@LivingOnWheels alright thanks!
No problem 👍🏻
Do you have to buy a new ficim or computer when changing to different injectors?
Nope, just change the tuning. As far as I know FICMs werent around till the 6.0s
Great video brother. You are the type of person that SHOULD be sponsored by RiffRaff.. putting out a lot of good content for these old dinosaurs!
Maybe one day!
Little over a year later and the AC injectors are up to 270 :(
U can run without all injectors. My dads 7.3 has 2 or 3 going going out. I would go with 205/ 80 buddy
You are totally correct. To anybody that didn't know 7.3s they would've had no idea my truck had 2 injectors going out. I ran it with those injectors for the better part of 2 years. Once I really started to take a hit of fuel mileage and had bad injector knock is when I made the swap. As for the hybrids I was REALLY REALLY considering them. Hybrids are a fantastic injector option. Gotta say that I am pretty impressed and happy with the AC codes though. If I end up picking up another rig down the road and this one turns into a fun truck I will almost definitely grab a set of hybrids.
I love the truck man. And I'm just curious u said u had a chair lift. I'm assuming your in a wheelchair. So how do u manage all this work on your truck? It's truly incredible tho. I believe this will show people that anyone can do it if u set your mind too it
Ray McCurry That is correct. Broke my neck at 17 and have been in a wheelchair since. Got very lucky to have enough recover to stand for short periods of time. This lets me do a lot more work on it than I otherwise would have been able to. Mainly it’s a ton of problem solving and figuring things out. It all definitely takes a lot longer to do regular projects but I’ve always loved this stuff so I keep doing as much as I can. For things I can’t do on my own I am lucky to have some family that is willing to help out. I’m not a person that likes asking for help though so I figure out how to do as much as I can. Honestly it’s just one of those things that if you really want it you figure out a way to get it done.
@@LivingOnWheels u are truly a legend man! Remember me when u get big! Imma spread your word brother!
Ray McCurry much appreciated! Just tryin to do what I’m passionate about
Will the same IDM work for all injectors?
As far as I am aware, yes.
I need a PCM for my 97. Do you know of a reputable place to either buy one or have mine rebuilt? It's the DPC-312 MME7. Thanks. Be safe!
rondogwil most of the OBS 7.3 PCM’s are interchangeable just make sure that it is the same plug pin out. Same with the newer trucks. They are pretty competitively priced across the board.
Swamps Diesel does PCM work and they are a very reputable company in the 7.3 community.

Hey great video. Super info!. So I’ve got an early 99 with 350k miles. Original injectors. Mileage has gone down by 5ml/gal in recent yrs. still starts and runs good though. Basically I’m thinking new injectors. Priority is mileage over power. What’s your recommend?
First, clean out your exhaust back pressure tube and sensor if you haven't done so already. I would bet you'll notice a difference from that. As for injectors id say 1s or 1.5s. The biggest factor is your right foot. It seems to me that they bigger the injectors the easier it is to burn more fuel. That being said though, Most people I see tend to get a little bump when switching to single shot injectors if they can keep their foot out of it.
Ok thanks! Yrs ago I did check into the exhaust back pressure sensor. The tube was solid plugged and rusted out as well. It ended up disintegrating in that plugged portion.local ford dealer wanted $350. I ended up taking the intact portion coming off the manifold (about 10”), hose clamped another 10” or so length of hydraulic hose to the steel tube and hose clamped the other end of hydraulic hose to the threaded portion of back pressure sensor. Talk about a farmer fix hey! But it seemed to get me out of a bind.
I will check that out however as that was at least 6 yrs ago. I’m not a heavy on the pedal driver and I’m old enough (40) that rolling coal seems like a waste of money! Lol. I will check into the injectors you mentioned. *As they’d be different than the factory injectors listed for my truck, would the job require any other changes? Turbo, injector driver module, or the programming? I have a superchips tuner that doesn’t seem to make any noticeable difference to performance/economy anymore. Truck is a daily driver work truck btw.
Sorry for the long winded response. Really appreciate your response and great approach to your videos! Nice good clean and clear well presented information! You earned a sub!
Ahhh there we go. Watching for the several ith time, AC single shots.... that basically stage 1? So now question is can I simply drop AC single shots in my early 99? Or would that require additional changes/mods?
You are exactly correct. AC injectors are the one and only stage 1 injectors. Anything above those become 1.5s and 2s. Because our trucks were programmed to run on split shot injectors you would need to get new tunes for single shot injectors. A hydra chip with custom tunes from 1023 or Jelibuilt is by far the easiest route to go for that. To me it sounds like AC injectors would be a very good fit for you. Nothing crazy but a noticeable bump in power over the factory injectors. Would definitely give the truck some new life without requiring any other supporting modifications. Good gauges are always recommended though.
Living On Wheels ya I think the AC is what I’d like. I checked with a few diesel shops within a 150 mile radius... they’ve never heard of AC injectors going in a Ford 7.3 which to me just shows their lack of outta the box thinking (and also lack of demand for changes to factory parts). But seems like a lot of these shops and parts dealers are like robots and are limited to just looking up numbers in a book.
So I could order the AC injectors, valve cover gaskets and glow plugs and instal the above... but the new tune is a big question mark for me. I don’t know anyone around here with the ability to do that part. I heard (or read) you mention a guy sent you a tune vis email or something, but you must have some very specific tech to plug a laptop into your truck eh?
* I guess what I’m trying to say is; I have no way to get this tune from a computer into my truck
Hey Joe I know you're fine with fuel additives what's your thoughts on hot shot secret thinking about getting that for my truck, good for the injectors or not I don't know
I used both their oil and fuel additive to try and save the injectors in the truck when I bought it. Unfortunately they were probably too far gone. Their product seems goo though and if read countless good reviews on them. My opinion is give it a try and see how you like it. It's not a big investment to try and its not going to hurt anything.
@@LivingOnWheels thanks
Not a problem!
Do you have custom tunes for AC code injectors?
Yes I do. Any single shots will need custom tunes on a superduty
Sorry for the late response,it’s crunch time for me at work. Thank you
Bout to daily me some 400/400 s hold my beer 🍻 ;)
Haha good luck!
