    so anyways i recently got my 2003 7.3L F250 Crew Cab Long Bed, 2 wheel drive and six speed manual transmission. 142500 miles on it now. The lid latch is broken on the air filter so getting a new air filter may be my first mod. i just put a set of original size tires on it and drove it 1600 miles round trip to Florida. I guess i'd like to do some fuel economy mods if any. we must have gotten over 16 mpg on the trip but i didn't really try to calculate it. We drove over 500 miles before I fillled it up with 30 gallons. maybe it was 17-18 mpg.

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  4 года назад +1

      Hydra tuner will help with MPG if you can keep your foot out of it. Clean your EBP sensor (I have a video on that). Good intake and exhaust might help a little. Other than that theres not much that will make much of a difference.

    • @LivingOnWheels

  • @duhastdsgb
    @duhastdsgb 5 лет назад +1

    Good video. One thing though, you need a closed air box not an open filter. I like s&b I have a dually and a f-250 with these. I have stock K&n for now on my excursion. But with that open filter, your getting all the engine bay heat which kills horsepower. Guarantee your IATs are 120 degrees +. Other than that , great vid

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  5 лет назад

      I appreciate the input and I have heard this from a lot of people. I do agree that a closed intake would help lower intake temps but I think everyone thinks the intake temps on this setup are a lot higher than they actually are. Reading off my factory sensor sitting right next to the 6637 (open air) I usually don't read too much higher than the ambient air temp of any given day while driving. Now sitting in traffic or at a stop the temps definitely go up, but from what I have seen while driving is that there is plenty of air flowing right back towards the filter. I'll try to remember tomorrow to switch my edge over and get some actual numbers.

    • @duhastdsgb
      @duhastdsgb 5 лет назад

      Cool. Even mine with s closed box is usually 114. I hooked my edge juice 2 on a friends truck with the open filter and his were around 135. I have yet to test it, but I think the only way to get them closer to ambient is to do a lot of heat shield wrapping. Maybe the intake pipe,turbo, and somehow the intake spider and so on.... maybe a test for a later video🤔 just an idea

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  5 лет назад +2

      Damien Hmmm yeah I’ll have to try to get those numbers and compare. I definitely don’t remember them being that high but I could be wrong. As for those tests I actually have some stuff along those lines already in the works! So good idea haha.

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  4 года назад +1

      Much appreciated! Thanks for watching. As for the exhaust the 4" strait pipe wouldn't be bad. Driving at highways speeds you can hardly hear anything other than the engine. I am running 4" strait and honestly rarely hear the exhaust except with the windows down and a wall next to me. Either way its pretty simple to either add or get rid of a muffler if you dont like how it sounds.

    I have a 2000 f250 that I just bought and this is my very first diesel. I didn't realize how much of a dog this engine is so I'm considering getting the PHP hydro chip tuner and my only concern is my engine currently has 350,000 mi on it so I'm a little concerned about putting the extra strain on the turbo and engine itself but everyone tells me I shouldn't worry. Also how much of a performance difference am I going to get?

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  4 года назад

      Good tuning from 1023 or jelibult will be adding little to no extra strain in my opinion. Bad tuning can definitely have a negative effect. As for what kind of a difference it makes, even moderate tuning on it will make it feel like an entirely different truck. My recommendation if you are going to get a hydra would be to buy it through Jelibuilt or 1023. They are the two best tuners in the country as far as I am concerned. i have ran both of their tunes and have been very happy.

    Hey bud I know you don't have your 7.3 anymore but I don't know anyone who knows more about the 7.3 than you. So my question is why would my check engine light come on when I'm driving and its only for maybe 1 second then turns off it does it randomly, doesn't matter if I'm driving slow or rolling coal even does it when I'm on cruise control. iv done some research and some say not big deal especially if mods are done its the truck saying it needs more oil or fuel. what are your thoughts? It has upgraded injectors turbo hydra etc...

      I have the diamond eye 5" exhaust with the 4" down, I have the ts chip(I don't think they made the hydra when I got it), banks intercooler, banks big head wastegate, boost fooler, injen filter, it had a banks transmission module when I bought the truck, but I pulled that out. The intercooler was in it when I bought the truck as well. I port and polished the intake spider for better flow and a new stock turbine wheel. It runs great but I will be doing some more stuff to it if I don't end up selling it soon. Oh yeah, it's a 2000 f350 long bed crew cab with a little over 250k. Awesome truck and very fun. It has a bunch of upgrades like turbo, injectors piping exhaust and hydra tuner. the transmission has less than 10k miles on it any ideas seem to hold high rpms before shifting and down shifting i want to say 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 2nd.

    • @LivingOnWheels

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  4 года назад +1

      Mauro Martinez short answer is no. If you get a chip with quality tunes on it you will have no problems with your transmission. If your constantly romping around, doing boosted launches, and driving the truck hard you will most likely shorten the life if your transmission. I have been running tunes for years without a single issue with my trans. Biggest factor of trans life is in your right foot and how you drive it.

      I definitely don’t disagree. The exhaust is more of a personal preference than necessary for power. Arguably more important on an OBS with the stock cobra down pipe. That being said most people never go beyond a intake, exhaust and tune anyways

I have been very luck in terms of recovery and, as you can see, I am able to stand for short periods of time. That being said, I still have a lot of partial paralysis throughout my entire body. Best way I can describe it is think about a bundle of wires running to the muscles and only 25% of those wires are connected. I am able to use the muscle but not anywhere near its full potential. Spinal cord injuries are really complicated, but that is a brief explanation.
