Mrhappy1227 jwittz made an amazing video about how to make say names of various Pokemon. It comes down to... Who really cares. Someone is bound to correct you, like how you mentioned Cecil. Noticed in previous videos, you cycle pronunciations... Still doesn't satisfy everyone. Also found an ignorant American who had to correct Europeans how to say "Aluminum"......
+Hyou Vizer for kingdom hearts games he is still squall, yuffi calls him squall and then he says something along the lines of "dont talk me like that, its leon"
Dark Knight in Bravely Default is RIDICULOUSLY powerful. turn one- Use an Arcanist, Brave 3 times, cast Adaptation on all 4 party members. Use Dark Knights Life or Death ability. Turn two- Dark knight, Brave 3 times, cast 4 Dark Nebula. All enemies take 40k damage, and alliese are healed to full. Ive annihilated most bosses with that strat.
I haven't played in a long time, but I had something similar going on. Can't remember all of the details, but there was a lot of BP Up in my party. Group-cast Poison on your team twice while they have the "Gain a BP whenever a status is inflicted" skill, make sure all of your Dark Knights have Drain activated, and then just pummel the hell out of your enemies with Dark Nebula (or whatever the 5 attack move is called). Three characters attacking 15 or so times each at 9999 per attack, and always ending in full health? It was fantastic. The only weakness was that if you didn't kill everything in that turn then you would be exposed and poisoned for 4 turns. So if I knew the fight would take more than one turn I would use a Stillness strategy instead that essentially made me invincible. It's crazy how broken the game can get, haha.
You ain't kidding. I only used stillness if I was in dire straits. Like I would blow ALL my SP on using Bravely Second- Stillness. I remember street passing someone one time that gave me an attack that was like 150k, oh my god, it was ridiculous.
The Deathbringer sword was present in FFXII and had the special effect one shot killing although it had a very low chance of doing so. Though it was worth mentioning.
As a classic Dark Knight fan, I approve of the evolution of the concept. In the older games, where less job immersion was involved, you could feel the "price" of Darkness by sacrificing HP. Nowadays, with all the story and animation depth provided in FFXIV, manipulating Darkness with your magic power (MP) and risking your sanity like a powerful spellcaster would, feels like a great leap for the DRK concept. Words cannot describe how much I'm looking forward to try this out, making my own leap from from Hyur PLD to Au Ra DRK.
Thanks for the video. I will definitely be trying out DRK at release. DRK and PLD have always been my favorite FF jobs and I enjoy tanking a great deal. The choice between the two for a main will be quite hard.
It seems after they re-released a bunch of the old games they introduced the sacrifice for hp, but in the original FF series the Dark Knight never used anything like that or any of the FF games I played like II, IV never used sacrifice in the NES, SNES versions.
Joshua Williams Cecil has an ability that lets him fire a wave of darkness in exchange for HP in the SNES version of the game. Not the American "Easy-type" version, but the true version of the game.
"Getting spear skill up for longinus" suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure Mr. Happy. Spear skill. Cause who needs blood swords ;3 100% guarantee that there will be a botanist joke in the DK quest line in X|V 100% assure you.
@ 1:56 His name is Leon. You seem to be confusing him with Squall for some reason. Also the first pronounciation of Cecil you used is the correct one, as confirmed in both the FF4 remake and the Dissidia games, his name being spoken in voiced cutscenes in all 3.
Do you know if paladin will utilize mp more in 3.0? It,doesn't feel like a paladin at all, right now... Just feels like a,shield and sword using tank.. They should really fix that job they have before, have a new one introduced
Mr. Happy, what would you think about reworking the ffxi ability in ffxiv "souleater" to sacrifice hp to double damage over 5-7 seconds with each bonus damage from attacks or weaponskills consuming an equal amount of hp, and absorbing the damage dealt as restored MP. I think that would strike an interesting balance with using a classic ability, and incorporating the mp tanking mechanic, while increasing enmity generation due to damage dealt.
Pretty reasonable that they wouldn't put abilities on the FFXIV version of Dark knight that consume HP but it's still kind of a staple that they could possibly find a way to implement later if they really wanted to. I was thinking of the idea of a temporary magic shield popping up when they use an HP ability that way they can still take some hits without putting there healer in a bind to badly. Would make a fun balancing act that could really keep a good tank engaged in the act of tanking. Course this would still mean any Dark Knights with bad timing or just spamming HP abilities to often could really screw over their party. I think it's a cool idea but probably not practical for an mmo.
I think the consumption of health for certain abilities would be an ok thing to help dark knights who are off tanking at the time deal more damage but while main tanking/taking alot of hits it'd be something you'd avoid.
Hyreal S Also, they can, sorry for bringing this game up, do like WoW and create shields with their HP, which would be great to mitigate burst as you could create a shield with part of you HP, say 25%, then get that HP healed up and that would put you at around 125% HP for the "big move" most bosses have.
So I do apologize for my constant comments thought I am still new to your channel but have been a huge FF fan and have grown up on the Ps1 era where FF8 is my favorite. Though my question for you is that if Seifer Alamasy represents a dark night or possibly a paladin? (since I know these are both kinds of kinghts) Though he always references himself to be a knight the throughout the whole game.
***** actually, as far as i know, if you have the expansion, you have the job on every character right at the beginning. (i mean, you would not be able to do anything with it until the level 10 job quest tat allows you to change, but still)
Been having issues with your videos lately. The ad finishes playing and then your video never starts. End up having to restart the video a couple times... and watch the ads all over again(UGHHH) before it actually goes through. Doesn't appear to be affecting any other channels I sub to. Weird...
Gzus Kreist I'd appreciate you not recommending Ad Blocker in my comment section. Watching Ads helps support the channel and keeps the content coming. I have been having the same issue as Elazul2k . Thanks
I can see the HP cost abilities being an issue spec for a tank. If they had gone DRK DPS would have been a dif story but i think they REALLY wanted that MCH job.
This video needs to be put on repeat play with headphones that Yoshi P cannot remove. It perfectly explains why people are so unhappy with the FFXIV incarnation of a Dark Knight. Don't get me wrong, the FFXIV version sounds fun, it just doesn't sound like a Dark Knight.
Sinash It's just game design. They probably wanted to implement some of the original mechanics from the darknight but they realized it wasn't working particularly well in this game. People need to chill up a bit and wait to see how is doing the dark knight after playing it. Maybe when we'll play it even if it's different you'll get the feeling of playing darknight who know.
I enjoy your Final Fantasy content, but I think you mispronounce words more than any RUclipsr I've seen. I can't blame you though; I'm not sure any RUclipsr I watch would have gotten Charon right, haha.
Before we get anymore comments. He did not make a mistake on Leon's name. Leonhart is the Japanese name.
Leon...?
Yeah I chose the japanese name over the english name. Had a feeling I'd regret that later lol

+Hyou Vizer
Errr...what? We were talking about FFII, not FFVIII. Different characters.
+Hyou Vizer for kingdom hearts games he is still squall, yuffi calls him squall and then he says something along the lines of "dont talk me like that, its leon"
Gafgarion from the original Final fantasy tactics on ps1 had to be one of the best Dark Knight I have ever seen.
Cecil was the first dark knight i knew of
Same.
Kerry vans Konsol I skipped 3 and in 2 you get Leon real late into the game and he doesn’t play like a dark knight due to that games leveling system.
@Kerry vans Konsol
1st Dark Knight HE KNOW OF. Cecil is the first dark knight he saw.
Glad to see you mentioned Bravely Default :D I love that game and the Dark Knight job.
I've always thought the Dark Knight's signature attack was Minus Strike, but I guess I've just played too much Bravely Default and FF3
With a dual tank party, a Dark Knight at can sacrifice health for dps would be fantastic, then swap back to tank mode when need be.
Dark Knight in Bravely Default is RIDICULOUSLY powerful.
turn one- Use an Arcanist, Brave 3 times, cast Adaptation on all 4 party members.

I thought Gafgarion was a rather interesting Dark Knight, but Cecil remains my favorite, with Alternis as a close second.
Aww Dark Knight was coolest in Final Fantasy Tactics :3
Sword Saint represent :P
Just got my dark Knight to 80 tonight :D watching this to celebrate

I love these videos PLEASE do them a little bit more often.
Great video. Now I want to see where they got the other two classes.
Thanks for the video. I will definitely be trying out DRK at release. DRK and PLD have always been my favorite FF jobs and I enjoy tanking a great deal. The choice between the two for a main will be quite hard.
Just unlock both lvl to 60 then play which ever you like at the time lol
Borascythe Paladin, Dark Knight, and Dragoon, the 3 most awesome FF classes!.
"The doom of a planet.....CRUSH PUNCH!"
i can't wait for your Machinist video, so excited! ^_^
the dank knight

If you watch the whole video Tactics is mentioned at the end
Joshua Williams

considering this you forgot to mention that squall's last name is leonhart, and his appearance kinda makes him seem like a more modern dark knight
Its a shame you haven't played Bravely Default. Alternis Dim = Top Tier
Tactics A2 had a job for the seeq race called lanista that acted like a dark Knight. Just thought I'd through that in.
Wow I love you bro :) keep up the good work dude!
The Dark Knight - Not to be confused with Batman =)
Awesome vid, looking forward to maining a Dark Knight, when are the bestiaries for the 2 other classes coming out?
"Getting spear skill up for longinus" suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure Mr. Happy. Spear skill. Cause who needs blood swords ;3

if this has bern messaged i apologize but in viii by equipping diablo you can get the dark knight equivalent for the game

You can't really balance a class over the bad players. You balance a class for what it can do, not how much people can fuck it up.
I think the consumption of health for certain abilities would be an ok thing to help dark knights who are off tanking at the time deal more damage but while main tanking/taking alot of hits it'd be something you'd avoid.

Gogito4 Not a bad idea, Dark shields would be a cool thing to see.
Love this!

the classes to unlock dark knight are usually black mage and warrior right?

What's the music you use in the background?
can you do a final fantasy bestiary on black mage
Final fantasy 4... I hate bad graphics but dayum that story was good.
Are you going to be doing a bestiary on Machanist?
Been having issues with your videos lately. The ad finishes playing and then your video never starts. End up having to restart the video a couple times... and watch the ads all over again(UGHHH) before it actually goes through. Doesn't appear to be affecting any other channels I sub to. Weird...
That's not a problem with this channel, but has been bugging me throughout RUclips.
icspps So Google plot to get us to watch more ads? #tinfoilhat
Gzus Kreist I'd appreciate you not recommending Ad Blocker in my comment section. Watching Ads helps support the channel and keeps the content coming. I have been having the same issue as Elazul2k . Thanks
Hey happy could you start a lore series
It's a little strange you picked Uhlan for ff12, considering the knight job literally has access to soul eater
Dark knight with scythe
Me: that's really edgy
The ff 14 just shot on the whole lore lol
hedge knight is more common for your ronin comparison
Doesnt Steiner uses DARK knight skills in ff9 ?
BLACK KNIGHT IS A PAIN-IN-THE-ASS IN FINAL FANTASY II.
I can see the HP cost abilities being an issue spec for a tank. If they had gone DRK DPS would have been a dif story but i think they REALLY wanted that MCH job.
Bravely Default ftw
Where's the history of paladin?
Cecil > YOU!
Gana main this
dark knight: is any thinking of seripoth right now?
This video needs to be put on repeat play with headphones that Yoshi P cannot remove. It perfectly explains why people are so unhappy with the FFXIV incarnation of a Dark Knight. Don't get me wrong, the FFXIV version sounds fun, it just doesn't sound like a Dark Knight.

first comment win :D
Again, skipping over final fantasy tactics where the dark knight made an appearance along with many other powerful sword-mage types.
I enjoy your Final Fantasy content, but I think you mispronounce words more than any RUclipsr I've seen. I can't blame you though; I'm not sure any RUclipsr I watch would have gotten Charon right, haha.
