@@Dharengo A quick Fantasia to midlander and back again would do the trick.I belive it puts your current player model into those scenes, it doesnt save how you looked back then.
I'll never forget the dark knight quest line after 2.x because it really showed the WoL as something more then just the saviour, it showed weakness and suffering that the WoL felt while still keeping them the strong protecter we see through the story. Realizing fray was the inner anger and frustration of WoL and how the two reconciled with each other was one of my favourite moments of ff14.
Same, it's what I love about the Dark Knight quest lines, it's mostly the 'great hero' of the people dealing with the baggage that comes with that role
And Myste was the manifestation of the Warrior Of Light's guilt. He'd always turned a blind eye to the suffering that he knew he had to be causing others... but when he saw one of his dearest friends die right in front of him to protect him, saw the heartbreak it caused all of House Fortemps and Edmont in particular, he began to realize that his actions have always had an effect on those around him, even if he didn't see it, even if he didnt know about it, or even know the person... Myste manifested in his soul after Haurchefant's death, and grew more and more until it became an entity as powerful as Fray, powerful enough to break free on its own, and take matters into its own hands.
@@Evilman_520 Yeah Myste's our compromise quest was awesome, Honestly tho Myste always reminded me of Ysayle from his appearance. Apparently after looking at the patch notes for 5.0 there is lv 80 job quest for each class that takes place after the lv 80 role quest and msq scenario "shadowbringers", I can only imagine what type of awesome story awaits for that XD.
@@Jon0001 if you think, even after Fray comes out, he says that he's only here because the Warrior of Light still wont trust him to take control. They worked together, but in the end it's still clear that the Warrior doesnt trust Fray. Maybe the 80 quest is going to be the time when he Fray and even Myste finally come together as one.
@@Jon0001 I also read that, and forgive me if my info is wrong, there's a cutscene that shows Haurchefant as a child (that I don't personally recall seeing but it's been a long time since then, or it could have been a side quest) and Myste's model is based on that. Myste was the personification of the WoL's failures and regrets, and manifested as the two people they felt like they failed the most.
"In your darkest hour, in the blackest night... think of me... and I will be with you. Always. For where else could I go? Who else could I love, but you?" -Myste
This reminds me of Fordola's reaction to witnessing WoL's past. She comments about the power and pain you have endured being too much for anyone to bear, and yet you stand unbroken. Upon asking How, and why, one of the options you can respond with is "Because I choose to". I'd say this video just added a lot more weight to that answer
The Dark Knight story line has always been my favorite. There is something about that darker tone mixed with your character's willingness to accept what MUST be done, without sacrificing your own beliefs, and if you fail? You won't regret it, because you fought with every fiber of your being.
Another thing a friend of mine and I say about Dark Knight, it very much shows the cost of being a hero. What being a hero means, it's not all positive, sometimes with you motivate people to try to be like you, they fail and it costs them everything.
This reminded me why the DRK story is the best of all the jobs, thanks for the great job. The "become what you must" part also always reminded of Fray saying that if we ever are tired of all this stuff, she'll be here ready to take the reins
The funny thing is that I made my character with yellow eyes to start with so the eyes combined with the build being smaller (my toon is FemAuRa) than what I remembered from Larri's "Basically" vid I kinda got "waitaminute..." vibes right away with Fray
The moment the dialogue box popped up. The moment the words were spoken: "I tire of this charade." The moment the music swelled to its climax. That moment made me feel a lurch in my heart I was not expecting. Goddammit, Larry, you're not allowed to make me laugh AND make me feel.
“So many broken by this world, then broken by you” “Serve... Save... Slave... Slay...” The dark knight storyline had the best emotional drive and writing
Larryzaur: able to make videos that make you cry in laughter and make videos that resonate in people’s hearts. Keep it up, man. Justice demands no less.

"It weighs as it should". Those words have meaning. But the weight comes from trying to push away what you are. We all have our inner darkness and our cross to bear, but if we can draw strength from coming to terms with ourselves, then that weight supports us just as we bear it. Our sins and scars are our to bear, not to deny. And whenever you turn on your dark side, remember... I forgive you.
Are we a good person? The story makes it abundantly clear we just do what other people tell us. We kill whoever people tell us to kill. The one time we're asked what we want to do, we look confused as if we've never considered it before. We're kind of like a puppet that doesn't do what we want. Fray has already expressed what we actually want. To leave it all behind and go some place far where no one knows us to relax. I always imagine that meant finding some place nice and quiet to fish.
I just started a few days ago, and the name “Shadowbringers” really lured me into curiosity. After finally watching the trailer, I thought the Dark Knight class was something really amazing in design, and gimmick. When I saw the man cut open the sky with the dark power, I can admit that even the darkness is beautiful in a way. A job which involves enveloping yourself, yet still fighting for what is true, nothing generic like becoming a berserker or going full out “evil”. This really has me wanting to play the class so badly. PS: Novice question, but what are the specific requirements to get DK? Do I need to be a specific job, or can I still unlock DK as a Spearman?
This post was a while back, but in case you haven't yet gotten into the game, you can pick up every class in the game, no restrictions. You need to get to level 10 in your first class though, (which takes maybe 3-4 hours) and you have to do the lvl 10 quest for that class, but after that you can pick up any other class, other than the DLC ones. The ones added in Stormblood require you to be lvl 50 first, and the ones added in Shadowbringers require you to be lvl 60, but the ones added in Heavensward (the one Dark Knight hails from) require you to be lvl 50 AND gained access to Heavensward content, meaning you'll have to complete the original game's main quest line, then the story missions for the following two years of patches, then complete the first quest of Heavensward, and only then you can get Dark Knight. All in all, about 100-120 hours of work to get there, if you know what you're doing. However, the jobs in Heavensward require you to be lvl 50 with your current class, but you only start out at lvl 30 with the job in question, meaning you'll need to go up 20 levels just to continue the story as a Dark Knight, Machinist, or Astrologian. The Dark Knight is why I started playing this about two years ago, and it was a LOT of work to do. Worth it in the end, though.

Y'know something? I dunno why it took me THIS long to notice it, but aside from Bard where he starts, the jobs he uses before landing on DRK mirror the order of the featured jobs in the opening cinematics for the expansions. Warrior - ARR Dragoon - Heavensward Monk/Samurai - Stormblood Meanwhile, now to await the final components for my new rig... *gleefully rubs hands*
Yesterday I finally hit my first level 70 class, and it was Dark Knight, I loved the story so much, hands down in my top 3 best experiences in a video game. It whole quest turned you, the warrior of light, the hero, the man who could do no wrong.. into a human being. Someone who, while still believing that he is doing something right, acknowledges that death is still death, no matter how you paint it. It made me feel something that no MMO (or most video games for that matter) dont make me feel. The option of "I tire of this charade" sent chills down my spine when it popped up in my quest, and I've never felt more satisfied with a class (playstyle and story) in any game except ff14. So thank SE for this beautiful story, and thank you Lary for your amazing timing on this video, and getting me EVEN MORE HYPE for shadowbringers!
i can just picture fray and WoL as a palpatine and vader relationship xD Fray: "use your hatred! let your anger give you strength." WoL : "yes my master"
I love the DRK quest, basically what I got was that even though you accept the darkness. You let it flourish, even let it run rampant, you have to love it, for it is a part of you. You can't throw it away, for everyone has darkness inside them, others just learn to live with it.
Fray is your anger, your aggression - he's the part of you that resents serving others and yearns to be free of your job as the Warrior of Light. He's what you can't say and can't be, and you're more powerful for channeling him and his emotions into your desire to stop evils where you find it. Myste is your regret, your sadness - the part of you that believes if you had done something different those you lost along the way might still be here. They're physical manifestations of the emotions everyone feels, but as a Dark Knight you embrace it, turn your negative emotions into your strength. When you tire of the charade of pretending these emotions aren't there, you become stronger by giving everything for what you believe in instead of holding back. The kind of justice you believe in as the WoL demands no less than your all - even the parts of you you hate at times.
I leveled DRK just in time to play Shadowbringers (for that IMMERSION) and I'm really happy you made this video. DRK SPOILERS (I GUESS) TL; DR leveled DRK as my 1st tank and for SHB immersion, loved the job and the story. Edgy boi 4 lyfe. I liked the DRK job story because it "humanizes" the WoL, that behind all those victories, there is guilt, anger, and frustrations that (the "dark" side basically) the WoL feels and it was not quite addressed in the MSQ. The WoL isn't just some almighty champion that keeps on winning and saving the day for people, he can get angry and frustrated too. And that moment when he accepted/reconciled with Fray(his inner anger) and Myste(his guilt), damn, that was beautiful. Also, big high five for picking Hiroyuki Sawano for the music, it fits perfectly!
I started DRK on a prior character and remembered the absolute humanization. In most(if not all) the other jobs, you play as the almighty emotionless silent protagonist. Bard is following the story of an illbegotten minstrel who gave up cheering the team on, Warrior is taking the mantle of an incompetent unreliable Roegadyn Tribal man, Ninja follows the shinobi code, Samurai doesn't get any emotion till the end and that's just eh. Red Mage has a happy ending. But Dark Knight... It's like a therapy session in the form of a job questline. It doesn't have a "happy ending". It has Closure.
Yeah that final scene where Fray and Myste walk away and disappear, and then the camera focuses on your character and the sword, that's closure done right for me.
haha, I just finished the dark knight quest yesterday and now I find this incredible video. The timing could hardly be better. And you did an amazing job with this video too. It tells a great story, the editing is perfect, I really loved it :)
man this was good hit right in the feels always loved the DRK quest line cause it really dealt with your characters feeling in being this unstoppable warrior but in the end the weight of it all really shows in this quest line love what you did here
Larry... this was amazing! And this was kinda how I imagined my OC finally giving in to using the Darkness built up within him throughout the story! Really loved this!! =O
That's exactly what I did. And it felt so much more Badass having the shadowbringer set gear glamd over, watching old curscenes and finish the story in it. *and then I remembered GNB existed and gave many healers heart attacks with superbollide in eden*
Two souls, fused in one body, one light, one dark, two sides of the same coin. As the coin flips, the sides constantly switch, eternally intertwined. While one side needed light, the other yearned for the dark as for light threatened to consume everything. It is time to put an end to the light as for light cannot exist without dark, such as dark cannot exist without light. Fray, dear friend, companion on countless adventures, take the reins. It´s time to bring darkness, time to BRING SHADOW.
No joke this video motivated me to keep leveling DRK and holy hell does it hit home now that I've finished the lvl50 job quest. I can't wait for more. I know it's been said a ton at this point, but seriously, that "I tire of this charade" + music swell is just phenomenal. Well done sir!
I've always anticipated the best videos from Larry and you didn't disappoint. The silly ones are great but this is outstanding! Dramatic and oddly fulfilling. Well done indeed!
DRK quest line has always been amazing see a heros guilt manifested to the point it cant be held in by the will of a silent protagonist is phenomenal writing. The lvl 80 quest was also a good send off to it my my opinion Frays final words to the WOL hits home.
Tbh, I doubt Fray "takes the reigns." Why? Because Fray would not be "saving the world." He was very against us always being the dog's body for everybody else and probably would just turn right back around, say "yeah no, bai. Have fun with that," and try and go back to the source. Though, who knows. He did seem to change a bit once you discovered your darkness wasn't from angst, anger, and bitterness but was the shadow your light cast.
Dark Knight! The true hero of the story! The content from the community has been on fire lately! Very well done! Larry, you are by far my favorite content creator for FFXIV!!
I always pictured the Shadowbringers intro as Fray finally taking the reins, so here it is. 😊

Cause baby tonight
The Praetorium's tryna steal all our time again
Yeah, baby tonight
You grab those EXP and go
TAKE THAT EXP
So stay strong it's almost over
All of that EXP bar's gonna fill right up when it's done
Cause baby tonight
The Praetorium's tryna steal all our time again
Cause baby tonight
You grab your mouse 'n keyboard and get bored again
An run, run until it's done, done until Lahabrea comes up at the end
Cause baby tonight
The Praetorium's tryna steal all our time again

Like if Larry should sing it :D
Now that was a pleasant and unexpected use of you editing talents Larry. Great job!
Such a beautiful blend of music choice, cutscenes and the trailer! Keep up the good work, Friend!
Our Esteem will not be silenced, nor crushed. It will walk the earth of needs be, to ensure our survival!

❤️
And with a single video, Larry eliminated the consistency of Tank In Need roulettes, forever cementing healers as Shadowbringers' one true insa-queue.
Ah the gooosebumps. Fking amazing. I did love the drk job quest more than the others.
I liked the aesthetic of DRK when I first started playing but when I played the questline I was like "this is my main".
@@bacaestrife3615 right xD. Damn shb is almost here.
Fray take the wheel baby!
Yep!! No more Mr. Nice Guy!
Great video. Pushing me ever closer to playing this game.
In the DRK 70 quest, I said "I tire of this charade." I'm sorry Sid, your quote was cool too, but Fray gets it.
Y'know something?
I dunno why it took me THIS long to notice it, but aside from Bard where he starts, the jobs he uses before landing on DRK mirror the order of the featured jobs in the opening cinematics for the expansions.
Warrior - ARR
Dragoon - Heavensward
Monk/Samurai - Stormblood
Meanwhile, now to await the final components for my new rig... *gleefully rubs hands*
His Bard (technically Archer) outfit is the same one you can see in the 1.0 trailer as well.
@@theundeadgentleman4998 Nice! Wasn't around for 1.0 but I did start out as an archer lol.
Larry, I love you, this video gave me the chills, made me cry and got me even more hyped for Shadowbringers now. I CAN'T WAIT FOR FRAY ANYMORE!
I'm so excited to see how the DRK questline unfolds with all of this.
i can just picture fray and WoL as a palpatine and vader relationship xD Fray: "use your hatred! let your anger give you strength." WoL : "yes my master"
I... I'm so damn impressed. Well done with the mouse selecting "I'm done with this charade." That was a perfect segway.
Fray, you will always be a part of my heart,
screaming out thoose words i cannot say
Im so hyped bringing my DRK to the first!
Serve, Save, Slave, Slay
I tire of this charade.
Beautiful editing on this one, Larry...
...justice demands no less.
OMG WHO IS CUTTING THE ONIONS *wipes eyes*
this was freakin' amazing Larry, bravo!!! \o/
I thought of switching from Darkknight to Gunbreaker...
...but I tire of this charade.
2 years after that storyline brought me to full on sobbing, you've brought me right back to that point of emotional upset. Well done.
I leveled DRK just in time to play Shadowbringers (for that IMMERSION) and I'm really happy you made this video.
DRK SPOILERS (I GUESS)
TL; DR
leveled DRK as my 1st tank and for SHB immersion, loved the job and the story.
WOW this was amazing, so well edited and it actually gave me chills!!
haha, I just finished the dark knight quest yesterday and now I find this incredible video. The timing could hardly be better. And you did an amazing job with this video too. It tells a great story, the editing is perfect, I really loved it :)
I'm a HUGE FAN, of the category Heroic Darkness. ☺
That was so great Larry. Thank you for the awesome work. I got shivers.
man this was good hit right in the feels always loved the DRK quest line cause it really dealt with your characters feeling in being this unstoppable warrior but in the end the weight of it all really shows in this quest line love what you did here
Y'know, I can get behind this!! Love being a DRK as my side job, so can't wait for more of it in SHB!
You did an amazing job on this! I’m obsessed with it
I just remembered you fought alongside Fray in the lvl 70 job quest. Wish I could replay job quests.
Larry... this was amazing! And this was kinda how I imagined my OC finally giving in to using the Darkness built up within him throughout the story! Really loved this!! =O
Im tearing up over this. Bravo Larry!
Playing through Shadowbringers on a Dark Knight the first time through is the right choice.
That's exactly what I did. And it felt so much more Badass having the shadowbringer set gear glamd over, watching old curscenes and finish the story in it. *and then I remembered GNB existed and gave many healers heart attacks with superbollide in eden*
@@GentlemanMudkip I mean, you're doing the right thing then! Keep doing you, Mudkip.
This video is awesome, Larry! Gives me goosebumps.
That's.... pretty awesome right there. I'm honestly impressed and I'm tossing this video to all my friends. EPIC!
No joke this video motivated me to keep leveling DRK and holy hell does it hit home now that I've finished the lvl50 job quest. I can't wait for more. I know it's been said a ton at this point, but seriously, that "I tire of this charade" + music swell is just phenomenal. Well done sir!
Well just finished the Dark knight quest line the other day. Guess it's time to rewatch the cut scenes!
Never expected some musical drama by Larry. Well done.
Friday, more like FRAYday.
YEEEEESSSSS!!!
When Larry makes this shit look even more epic than SE does. What a dude
Not many times do I cry, but this is one of them... Nice job Larry bringing me back into imo the best of any class story.
Thx alot Larry i had finally made up my mind in who to play in shadowbringers but after watching this video im just gonna have to roll with DK now👍
Drk
Well, shit. I never thought a Larryzaur video would make me cry (from anything other than laughter), but here we are. Beautifully done.
gaves me chills!! Didn't expect it from you :D
And just like that you can pull more emotion out of me then the actual opening of Shadowbringers. Well played good sir, well played.
You actually made me cry, Larry. That was beautiful. I expected memes, and I got feels.
I don't normally leave comments, since they more often than not get lost in the sea of popular RUclips pages, but this was fuckin QUALITY. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
thanks dude!
As a DRK main, I have to say that I am 1000% in love with this video and I genuinely appreciate that you took the time to make this.
That song is so great. This was very cool. Nice job, Larry. :)
Wow, this is actually really super duper good. GG, Larry
The emotion was hitting me so much.
btw, the name of the song is actually LINK06BPM61THEME-STRINGS from "LINK OST" album.
Wow. Just wow. I cried ;_;
I'm so excited to fight with Fray side by side in ShB
This is so freaking artistic! Good job, Larry! You captured what it feels like to be the character of the Dark Knight!
I wish monk had something that cinematic...**LOOKS AT SQUARE**
As a DRK main, I found this amazing and inspiring \(0.0)/
Awesome job!
Damm that made me cry, thanks for that masterpiece I was waiting so much for something like this since the fisrt shb trailer
EXTREMELY well done, you gave me goosebumps.
