I swear we need more of these kinds of compilations. It's so easy to forget how absolutely weird some cutscenes can be considering how serious the msq typically is, but even the serious moments are mixed with absolutely bonkers moments and it is beautiful.

My favorite scene is in post EW, when you and G'Raha go to recruit Y'Shtola to join your treasure hunt and find her asleep. I play a redheaded Miqo'te girl, so it was like two siblings were just watching their friend sleep. The fact that the music just abruptly stops as it cuts to her noticing us and she scares herself into dropping a book on her head. 3 cats just fucking around at the library. Priceless
I remember a scene in Endwalker when Alisaie says she has no great love of violence, and all I can think of is her leaping of a balcony in Shadowbringers because she was so excited to go on a rampage.
Especially I loved how I was like watching it, thinking like "Oh, did we like get kidnapped or what?" and the just... look upward and see Zenos casually eating and I couldn't help but think "oh, a date, i see."
The Warriors of Darkness having sympathetic backstories felt way too out of no where with how crazy and menacing their expressions were in the earlier 3.x patch content...

It was sorta hard for me to take it seriously when they're revealed to actually just be trying to save their home world and started crying. It felt a teensy bit forced at the time... They did make up for it with how well ShB was written, but that was 1 of my minor gripes with HW D

Very good video! It only lacks the quest where you help the children of Doma in Mohr Dona to create a proto adventurer guild. After you discover that an Evil Party of Lalafell (redundant, I know) plan to summon the primordial carbuncle, the children all rush to ambush them then drew out their toy weapon. Then, the Warrior of Light stand next to them, look at the children, then at the lalafells, then back to the children, and awkwardly draw it's weapon to not embarras the kids.
Hmm, I replayed the game through NG+ and have no memory of that part. I'm certain if I saw it I would have clipped it. Perhaps it got removed when SE cleaned up some of the ARR slog.
My favourite "out of context moment" in 14 has to be: Urianger: "To that end, I have laboured in my sojourn to this world, discovering in so doing the answer to a pressing mystery; That of Black Rose's inexplicable potency... "Come."
The whole Delivery Moogle Questline had a LOT of out of context moments and EVEN WITH CONTEXT it still did not stop you from taking a double take. But hey, the hat is nice.
At this rate an FF14 abridged may actually be viable! But damn cult dancing, cant resist me some good beats. Might have to do vanu vanu quests just for that haha!
That specific scene comes from the bonus quest line that you unlock by doing all three HW tribe quests. You'll even get that dance (minus the DBZ aura) as an emote for your reward as well.
Fandaniel saying "Daddy" using Asahi's face will always be cursed and horrifying
"I beg your pardon" is still one of the funniest lines in this game for me. I said it just before he did the first time I watched that scene.
