He is not the Top guitaris in the world in terms of technique and speed. He is VERY GOOD. He is extraordinary. Don't misunderstand. But he is not John Petrucci or Timo Tolkki or Yngwie Malmsteen Level. As a proof he changed the solo of Stratovarius "Against the Wind." Check it on YT. Yet, Syu is very good at making his solo sounds so emotional. Like you are immersed in it. I am not guitar legend. But I would like to humbly say that I am above average and can do fast solos as well. Saying it as credential on making the judgement.

Syu's techique and difficulty level is not at the same level as the guitarists I mention above. Logically, if someone cannlift 100 kg, he logically can lift 75 kg. As an evidence that Syu's level is not as high as Timo Tolki for example, Galneryus did cover Against the Wind and Black Diamond song pf Stratovarius, and Syu made simplet Solo. Ask your friend who is very good at guitar, and he can judge Syu's level. His, although extraordinary not at the level of John Petrucci, Timo Tolkki etc. National not International level.

This church is the same church as Lovebites " Glory to the World ". The vocalist is often called " Mr. vocal " ...he is a perfect vocalist. The guitar player is one of the best guitarists in Japan ,or maybe no 1. The keyboardist is clearly the best keyboardist in Japan . So they are a super band along with Unlucky Morpheus ,in my opinion.
@@dicodec That Church is often referred to as the 'Ubiquitous Japanese Church' and was also used in the Aldious 'Dominator' video and many other Japanese metal videos.. Apparently, it's not really a church but a wedding chapel. There's a picture of the outside. It is literally in a business district surrounded by high rises.

A bit of a fun fact Galneryus's lead singer Ono Masatoshi-san is already an established singer back in the '90s probably his big hit was the song "You're the only" theme from the 1992 Jdrama entitled "Anything For You" which he re-recorded when he joined Galneryus in 2009. And the band's guitarist Syu-san is also the guitarist for Animetal fronted by Anthem's former lead singer Sakamoto Eizo-san.
So happy to watch this reaction, even when I;m a bit late, but Syu is amazing and I love how humble they are in person too. They deserve more recognition!

Grew up playing classical music and got into metal in high school in the 80s. Massive fan of Malmsteen! Been into JRock for a couple years now and I’d put Syu and Hizaki & Teru (Versailles/Jupiter) up against ANYBODY. Phenomenal shredders but with a musical sense and class that is hard to come by. 🔥🎸

I've been waiting for this ;_; Galneryus is such an incredible band (peak japanese power metal). You missed out on essentially half of the song with the MV version tho (: If you're still into Unlucky Morpheus, there's a collaboration between Syu (Galneryus' guitarist) and Fuki, which is pretty amazing. Also, make sure to check out some of Galneryus' older songs. Their previous singer Yama-B was interesting too (you'll know when you hear it) and I think earlier Syu was more experimental with his sound.
Now that you had a taste of Galneryus, try to listen on your own time the 15 minute album version as the one on the music video is shortened. Syu is doing a ton more freaky solo stuff in the the album version. 🙂 Or you can go watch the live one.
That first solo speaks to my soul in a way that no other guitar solo I have ever heard can match. Probably the most Zen I feel in my life is listening to that solo. Kind of along the same lines as your comment about the song being like the gospel for the church of music. So fantastic.

Nice, Pika-Syu is one of best of the best shredders from Japan, he's god level! You should check out Syu with Fuki - [Reason] MV.. My other favorites from Galneryus are Alsatia(Leda of Kami is here) and The Followers(Fumiya is the Drummer).
The great reaction to one of the best guitarist, Syu and yes he makes it sing. Wait till you hear him play the masters on it!!!!! This is a great band and if you want to be totally blown away try the LIVE version where Syu gets to go off several times, not sure you won't be looking for face and brains on the floor after that. Another J/Metal discovery boys, the rabbit hole is deep and there is constant new talent being pumped into it, take it from someone who has been in it for years there is no way out but why would you want to get out with level of musicianship!!!
Great Videos this is my first time in the channel and i want to say i love galneryus one of my favorites bands of metal. if you like the same style of metal i recommend the band "Rata Blanca" from argentina. recomiendo el tema "la leyenda del hada y el mago" (the legend of the fairy and the wizard) the song if from 1992 but i recomend search for a live performance. you will love it. they also have a awesome live show with glenn hughes playing songs of deep purple like burn, mistreaded, stormbringer and keep on moving.
Syu has his own personal line of guitars from ESP called the Crying Star. Every new model of Crying Star is named for the Galneryus album Syu premiers it on. Syu also does shoes like NAMM for ESP guitars.

The vocalist did an insert song for Dragon Ball Kai called "Let It Burn". The composition was not by Galyneryus, though, but by Takanashi Yasuharu (the composer of the background music for Naruto Shippuuden, Boruto and Fairy Tail).
On point my man Sho ono the vocalist did indeed do a song for Dragonball Kai, nicely picked. Galneryus did the intro to S1 Hunter X Hunter and also the outro to S2, finally they also did the intro to Laughing Under the Clouds, which btw is underated in my opinion and the song is epic, they don't do many power ballads, but Attitude to life is really good, love it. Also if yoy didn't get it this song heavy takes from Tchaikovsky.
Finally Galneryus!! i love them so much... i liked them when Yama-B was their first vocalist, but i really loved them with Masatoshi Ono, he has such a clean and powerful voice, my god... And Syu, well... he's just the best (in my opinion, ofc~) i remember when i watched a "collab" between Syu and Jani Liimatainen (ex guitarrist from Sonata Arctica), and yeah, Syu is that great...to be playing with people like Jani at that time, he's incredible.
Fun fact !: Syu comments that this session was improvised since both were summoned for Young Guitar on the same day, and there it occurred to them to do a kind of "guitar battle". Syu comments that he considers that he played very badly, because he had to improvise, as for Jani Liimatainem, I have the phrases prepared, and for that reason, Syu considers that Jani played much better than him, I personally think otherwise. The Church name is Casa D'Angela in Tokyo and is a wedding church so Japanese can marry western style with the hole kit.

If you're still into Unlucky Morpheus, there's a collaboration between Syu (Galneryus' guitarist) and Fuki, which is pretty amazing.
Also, make sure to check out some of Galneryus' older songs. Their previous singer Yama-B was interesting too (you'll know when you hear it) and I think earlier Syu was more experimental with his sound.

That first solo speaks to my soul in a way that no other guitar solo I have ever heard can match. Probably the most Zen I feel in my life is listening to that solo. Kind of along the same lines as your comment about the song being like the gospel for the church of music. So fantastic.

Nice, Pika-Syu is one of best of the best shredders from Japan, he's god level! You should check out Syu with Fuki - [Reason] MV.. My other favorites from Galneryus are Alsatia(Leda of Kami is here) and The Followers(Fumiya is the Drummer).

The great reaction to one of the best guitarist, Syu and yes he makes it sing. Wait till you hear him play the masters on it!!!!! This is a great band and if you want to be totally blown away try the LIVE version where Syu gets to go off several times, not sure you won't be looking for face and brains on the floor after that. Another J/Metal discovery boys, the rabbit hole is deep and there is constant new talent being pumped into it, take it from someone who has been in it for years there is no way out but why would you want to get out with level of musicianship!!!

Great Videos this is my first time in the channel and i want to say i love galneryus one of my favorites bands of metal. if you like the same style of metal i recommend the band "Rata Blanca" from argentina. recomiendo el tema "la leyenda del hada y el mago" (the legend of the fairy and the wizard) the song if from 1992 but i recomend search for a live performance. you will love it. they also have a awesome live show with glenn hughes playing songs of deep purple like burn, mistreaded, stormbringer and keep on moving.

Syu has his own personal line of guitars from ESP called the Crying Star. Every new model of Crying Star is named for the Galneryus album Syu premiers it on. Syu also does shoes like NAMM for ESP guitars.

The vocalist did an insert song for Dragon Ball Kai called "Let It Burn". The composition was not by Galyneryus, though, but by Takanashi Yasuharu (the composer of the background music for Naruto Shippuuden, Boruto and Fairy Tail).

On point my man Sho ono the vocalist did indeed do a song for Dragonball Kai, nicely picked. Galneryus did the intro to S1 Hunter X Hunter and also the outro to S2, finally they also did the intro to Laughing Under the Clouds, which btw is underated in my opinion and the song is epic, they don't do many power ballads, but Attitude to life is really good, love it.
Also if yoy didn't get it this song heavy takes from Tchaikovsky.

Finally Galneryus!! i love them so much... i liked them when Yama-B was their first vocalist, but i really loved them with Masatoshi Ono, he has such a clean and powerful voice, my god... And Syu, well... he's just the best (in my opinion, ofc~) i remember when i watched a "collab" between Syu and Jani Liimatainen (ex guitarrist from Sonata Arctica), and yeah, Syu is that great...to be playing with people like Jani at that time, he's incredible.

Fun fact !: Syu comments that this session was improvised since both were summoned for Young Guitar on the same day, and there it occurred to them to do a kind of "guitar battle". Syu comments that he considers that he played very badly, because he had to improvise, as for Jani Liimatainem, I have the phrases prepared, and for that reason, Syu considers that Jani played much better than him, I personally think otherwise.

Personalmente creo que Jani lo hizo mejor en ese "duelo", su phrasing fue muchísimo más limpio y prolijo, con notas que se adaptaban perfecto a su estilo, además que se notó que Syu estaba haciendo su parte sobre la marcha, con el abuso de tapping que solía utilizar cuando estaba estancado (dicho por él mismo). Eso no quiere decir que uno sea mejor que el otro... ahora, si Syu hubiese traído algo más preparado... ufff, lo que hubiese sido.
