I'm a [eletric] guitar player and big fan of Versailles, I have almost all their discography and until a while ago I did not know very well Galneryus. I'm hearing on RUclips in recent days and I'm stumped. Not because I am a fan of another band I'll stop talking for the reason. Hizaki is a great guitarist, but Syu is ridiculously absurd.
Its a tough one. I think both are great when it comes to speed and melody. Both are very technical. I think Hizaki's execution is more dramatic . Syu's articulation is definitely pushing it to the next level. So, I go with SYU.
Sin duda Hizaki transmite mas sentimiento en su música y tiene un estilo único, sin dejar atras a Syu que es un gran guitarrista de Power Matal Melodico con mucha más técnica que Hizaki.
I have to say Syu and maybe it's because I've been listening to Galneryus/Spinalcord for almost 10 years, but I think Syu is more technical although he's not known for it. Syu is definitely a more balanced player in terms of style from the videos you showed us. SYU - my number one guitarist!
Yeah I agree Syu all the way. I love both Galneryus and Versailles/Jupiter but strictly going off of ability/technique, Syu is one of the very best in the world. Hizaki is also a world class guitarist in his own right but almost no one can play at Syu's level. As far as musicality in terms of composition goes they are too different to compare directly. Both are the primary songwriters of truly one-of-a-kind epic bands but, as you said, Syu is only getting better with every album Galneryus puts out. Vetelgyus is fucking awesome. The History of Genesis is also fucking awesome, and I was glad that Jupiter started branching out a little more on this album. A lot of the songs on the album are very different stylistically from what Versailles/Jupiter has done before. Darkness from this album along with Forever With You from Classical Element are two of my favorite Versailles/Jupiter songs. So it's not that their band isn't also improving as a whole, it's just that Ganeryus's improvement is much more noticable. I would like to point out that I'm not dissing Hizaki in any way; both him and Syu live on top of the Mount Olympus of the guitar world, shooting lightning bolts out of the end of their instruments raining destruction down on the land below. In correlation to their guitar prowess Hizaki may be Hercules, but Syu is fucking Zues. If they had a true guitar duel and swapped solos until one admitted defeat, Syu would beat Hizaki like Ralph Macchio beat Steve Vai in Crossroads.

Syu has a vibe of Uli Jon Roth I noticed it the first time I heard the band, than I realized he had an extended scale guitar and scalloped fretboard at the last frets, he sounds very proficient in his playing with great feel that reverberate through and through, Hizaki is a very good player who seem to play by ear like myself and sometimes doesn't make it to the pitch more raw of a player I'd say, but it also makes him sound more genuine, we all love raw players don't we? Hendrix Page Blackmore and more.
I love both guitarist, but Syu has been playing at a whole different level the last 5 years. I have to give him the edge, but that in no way takes away from Hizaki. You're going to get something wonderful with either guitarist.

Well Syu doesn't need to wear a dress to prove anything. His choices of notes and song writing skills are incredible!
Personally, Syu does stuff that has already been done, and is not as innovative; However, he is very good at what he does. His technique is wonderful. Hizaki is more innovative as well as melodic; One that same not, Hizaki is very refined in his technique as well. They both have much different styles, and therefore are incomparable. I personally like Hizaki more, but I also am drawn to Syu very much so as well. He is a wonderful musician too. They both are amazing, and there is no real competition since they both are amazing. :)
StardustBand exactly my thoughts! I admit Syu is extremely skilled, but Hizaki brings something new. Respectively, their bands reflect what they are also. I like Galneryus for their technical skill, but I have always thought Versailles has more soul.
I feel sad for not hearing about these two before. Good video
Why comparing 2 different genre who would know who is best here
They're playing different scale but mostly important two of them are really skilled
Me gustan ambos, pero Syu está a un nivel totalmente superior
we're too busy thinking about old guitar legend (page, kirk, slash, hendrix, satriani, BB, etc). how could've we missed these 2 japanese..
鳥肌立ちっぱなしwwwww
やべぇ!!!!!
both are excellent. definitely a honorable draw between two Grandmasters of shred guitar
Syu is yngwie, hizaki is John Petrucci
Hizaki ❤ Versailles❤
hizaki one top , because he is guitar technical, composed, lyric, produce, stylish all master musician..
