last time i had a tank crash, my adult was the only fish that wouldn't recover and died, the rest were severums and silvers. Then, the next one i had for about 4 years died from a swollen vent and stopped eating and again, the only one who got sick and died. Bums me out because I love them but what the heck
My absolute favourite I have 4 I started with one needed to get her a mate so growing 3 smaller ones on. My olde rone is always spawning eggs but she is not nasty to the other fish in my tank even when she guards her eggs. I really hope to get a beautiful pair like one of your super video bill. Mine go nuts for dried meal worms.
@BillsCichlidRoom Happy days do you still have your two pairs :) I have one other question you are always mentioning the fish auctions. Can anyone go to them, or is it a group of community thing? I am desperate to get my hands on a true parrot cichlid, but without having to sell a kidney to get one, haha
I just bought one juvenile chocolate cichlid. I really want to get another one. my current one is too small to know if it's a male or female. do you think keeping 2 juvenile chocolate cichlid together since juvenile will reduce aggression once they get older? currently keeping mine with parrot fish and angelfish in a 6ft tank.
Hello I think that the female is more pretty than the male, since she doesn't get that bib hump on her head, what's the size of this tank?? Nice video 👍👍
@@BillsCichlidRoom tell me about it I've had 6 young chocolates for about a year before starting to show signs of pairing up, moved the pair Into there own tank now so hopefully time will tell
You're a gold mine and love the soothing voice overs! I hope your Channel continues to grow !
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video
I keep a single Chocolate in a community tank. The colours are amazing and he is the most peaceful fish in the tank. Great job on the pronunciation!
Thank you GV, not the easiest one to pronounce lol.
Very nice video. No bells or whistles, just info and fish!
Thank you Kern, I appreciate that.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed the videos :-)
Very informative video and beautiful fish, thank you!
Great species profile Bill, stunning, especially their dorsal trailers 🤩
Thanks Raymie, spent 1/2 hour learning how to pronounce the name & 5 takes lol
Love this, thinking of getting some to go in with my Geophagus. Just trying to find some now.. very helpful video, thank you.
Thanks Rob, good luck getting some - Pier Aquatics had some a few weeks ago if that’s any help.
Brilliant update Bill lovely fish and I have never heard them called Emerald Cichlids before every day is a school day lol
Thanks BFL, the older book call them Emerald sometimes. I was surprised about feeding from the surface, so tried it with floating pellets - who knew!!
@@BillsCichlidRoom I need to buy more books mate lol
Great looking fish!

Thank you, it was 2 pair I ended up with, took a couple of spawns, but I did get young from them - I’ve still got 6 young in my South American tank

Very nice video. They have a similar shape as Severums. I have 4 severums. I just wish they breed.
Thank you Vivek, best of luck with your Severums

Thanks IamA, in my experience the chocolates are not aggressive, gentle giants for such a large cichlid.
@@BillsCichlidRoomyeh they seem gentle. I now have 2 juveniles and they just look at each other and swim away. Hopefully they wont fight.
i say chocolates are the peaceful oscar
i thought the buffaloes needed high current no?

Thanks, it’s only a 4 foot tank, 55 Uk gallons.
What temperature do you run your tank if you don't mind me asking?
Hi, thanks for watching. All my tank are 78 F with a Ph of 6.5 to 7.0.
Thank you for the reply, i have just found a pair of chocolates and hoping to breed,
@@jknight5780 good luck, they are not too difficult, sexing them when young is the hardest part.
