Hi Tom & Michelle I have a couple of questions, first of all thank you for the video with dimensions for the lift frame. #1 Do you still have the soft sided JD cab? And if so are you interested in selling it? #2 Where did you purchase the accessory LED lights you mounted on the lift frame? Can you email me the website and model # of the lights. Getting all my ducks in an order a spring build Thanks for your help Bill Odom Poplar Grove, Illinois
Hi Bill, I don't have the soft sided cab anymore. It sold pretty fast. I found the LED lights on Amazon, but I have seen them at Harbor Freight, reasonably priced.
Hello, so far the fact that the tractor does not have a limited slip differential has not been a problem. I do run tire chains, and I have used rubber tire chains that i made. I went back to regular tire chains as well as weight on the rear of the tractor. the cab that I fabricated weighs about 150 lbs and this has also helped. As I have said before, if you use it with care , these little tractors will perform well and you should have no problems
@@tomlafrance9786 I would put chains and weights on the one I want to buy as well. I know on flat surface they are completely capable, however my drive has a slope and I did know if you had encountered that before. Do you think even with the weights and chains it would slip? Thanks for the initial response
I don't have a video on installing the blower, I followed the instalation instructions that came with the unit. They seemed pretty good. once you do it the first time, it goes pretty well subsequently. good luck!
I have a D170 John Deere tractor will this snowblower mount to it, if so, what's the model and serial number? I have been wanting to mount a snowblower for a long time but could never find the right one. Thank you
Yes it will. The ONLY difference between the D-160 and D-170 is the size of the mower deck. The D-160 runs a 48"inch and the D-170 runs the 54"inch deck, otherwise these two models are identicle.Same exact amount of horsepower too.
Good catch Sandy. It is a bit of a pain, you need to lower the blower to the ground then you have to remove two of the four bolts that hold the winch bracket in place and this will allow the the winch bracket to move forward enough to lift the hood and check the oil. I thought of putting two pins in place of two of the bolts to make this job easier. So far I have learned to live with it in order to keep the bracket tight and secure. Again good eye.
Awesome, innovative thinking. My guess would be that you probably saved a 1000 dollars or more by fabricating your own parts. To get those features from JD, you would have to upgrade to at least an x500 series.
Nice video! I do believe that it is illegal to have a blue colored strobe light on a nonemergency vehicle. But otherwise, nice video and set up! It sure seems nice of you to help your neighbor when they aren't able to move around from surgery.
I have a JD x540 and wonder what a set-up like you have would cost a guy..
Never really calculated the cost!

Great video! I love your handy work you've done to the tractor!
How do you raise the hood to check the oil with the winch and bracket in the way? Looks good by the way.

Thanks for the reply Tom....two pins instead of bolts should work well.

I Like the idea of car window regulator for the shout. can you explain how you did it?
You can also use a two speed wiper motor.
