Thanks for this video - it's very helpful to those of us new to climbing seeing what more experirenced climbers use. Is the mat part of your gear in that you try to keep your ropes on it to keep them clean?
No not usually just something I had in my garage but a small tarp could be nice to keep in there. Thanks man glad it was helpful
CT makes the CT pillar it's my favorite biner.has the corner keep as well .nice
Also as suggestion best pursick cord I've used is 9.3 epicord. Works on most ropes .bang on with 24 strand
Hey man I learned a trick for the s light .the waist buckle is very hard to get off .the buckle '! ..stick a accessory carabiner straight down the buckle it will not change or come loose but you can open it one handed comes off with ease I use a black mini accessory biner . It's game changer .
Wow I'll have to try this thanks. I'll post the trick if I like it and credit your channel!
@@TPOTTS_TREES it opens waist belt like simaler to way footvsssender breaks loose
@@TPOTTS_TREES I got it from a video .can't remember the guys name .should pop up
Was hoping you may do a video like this sometime. Awesome stuff. Did make me panic though with the mention of 2024!
Haha not quite next year yet. I thought I'd get ahead 😂😅
Very nice man! I just got a few of the waterproof hard cases for my climbing devices. They're the Apache 1800 cases from Harbor Freight. I'll post pictures on reddit/treeclimbing page in the next few day' when I get everything situated.
Very interesting, I'll look into them
Good video as usual pal, I have mostly the same kit. I also don’t like the chicane but have found the rope wrench above the zigzag, the zagwrench if you like, works really well if you prefer the zigzag as your second system.
I love that ZigZag rope wrench set up. The only thing that puts me off is don't they suggest the metal tether? I'm sure it's safe with the stiff tether anyway lol
I’ve not heard about tether suggestions have heard that the chicane is close enough in design to the wrench that ISC nearly sued Petzl over it so would imagine that makes them compatible:)
what climb rope lengths are ideal? do you use 45m or 60m for example. Thanks really great video
What country are you from. In the UK 45m is plenty. Any more and it's too heavy and means you have to pull loads of rope to redirect
@@TPOTTS_TREES Thanks. Yes I'm in UK. Going to do my climbing and ariel course this feb and they specified 2 climb ropes 'min 37m and 45m' 45m being stated a minimum makes it sound like you need a lot more in actual practice lol
@@boomtaylor8297 well you can imagine it this way. For drt/mrs you need twice as much rope as the height of the tree. 20m tree you need a 40m rope to reach the floor drt.
47 allows for a 23.5m tree. This may not seem that tall but 30m is a pretty tall deciduous tree in the UK. Also you are never anchored onto the tips of the tree, probably at least 5m down from the top branches.
In the rare times you are running out of rope you can just lower your anchor or use your second line to pick a lower anchor to allow yourself to get to the ground.
It's great practice to put a stopper knot at all times in your line. You don't want to be slipping off the end at height.
Stay safe, be confident and you'll do great on the training 💪🏻✌🏻
You can always buy 1 47m rope and another longer one. Wouldn't hurt, just a touch heavier and more expensive but it's entirely up to you ❤️
I’m looking at getting a hero 12 go pro any info on them? Would you upgrade to one of them or any alternatives?
My next upgrade Is a go pro with a media mod case. I think the 8 onwards have them. Makes audio so much better in the wind.
Having one with a rear screen is good as you can line up the shots when it's on your helmet.
The mini's look ace as they are tiny but they don't have the rear screen so it would be hard to know what's in shot.
I would get the 12 if money wasn't an option. I was looking at 10s on the FB market place second hand.
The s light is far better than the new tree motion pro that thing sucks and the leg straps go up ur crotch. The evo was best .but s light I s now
I really like it, nice and snug
