Agree with all points mate. I started on the hitch climber, then moved to the zigzag, started srt with a rope wrench and have recently added the rope runner to my kit bag. Have been doing more rec climbing since I bought the rope runner as it’s has made climbing super fun again.
IMPORTANT: Doing SRT with a mechanical Rope Runner, Akimbo , ZizZag with Knee assender take a LOT of adjustment / fitment to work out the knee bungee lenght & tension, the chest or neck harness length & tension for your height & limb length. Some rope assenders are easier to clip in & out than others. I recommend the dual cam Notch Jet Step for your foot assender it is the easiest of all to clip & out with the least drag. Also, do NOT just clip in your new SRT gear and go up beyong about 10ft up. Start low, go down slow & repeat then go up again onky abouy 10 ft then come down to only about 3ft & detatch from Your foot & knee assenders, why, because its very easy to get Your knee assender knee stuck / jammed up above Your head trying to detach from it as a beginner. Best to get stuck & jammed in your foot & knee assenders 3ft abovr ground than 13 or 30ft up. Don't forget to send Your main life line up over a few limbs not over the lowest limb because once You are ready to go all the way up & get into the You need a place to stand below You. Cheers
Great info. Been climbing drt with a hitch climber and it kills my elbow. Just ordered a foot ascender to incorporate probably 10 minutes prior to watching this. Hope it helps👍🏼
HEllou Was wondering if anyone knows a good place to buy arborist gear in EU or better yet, sweden.. i got nothing for treeclimbing so far. And great Video as always! hoping to start working myself soon. have a good day!
Thanks bro. I bought a bunch of tree climbing gear before the covid pandemic and never got to using it due to no customers to cut their trees. I stored all of the stuff away and now dusting it off and going to tree and get some tree trimming and cutting clients lol. Still struggling to get up into the tree.
Ladders can get you up the trunk but be careful. If you decide to go down the ladder route try and have a line installed above the ladder before ascending. Alternatively get into srt climbing. I have another video showing off srt
Great video and very informative, thanks! Just to mention, I was under the assumption that recent guidelines from the AA industry best practice now recommend using 2 main lines as well as your lanyard for safe climbing. I know this is a recreational climb so you don't really need to be following those to cover H&S requirements but is this your understanding too? also, I climb on a zigzag/chicane MRS/SRS with a prussik backup line, what would you recommend to replace my prussik that's not too expensive? the zigzag ate up all our work budget! would the hitch climber be a good replacement? I'm fairly new to climbing and have only been in the canopy for 6 months or so.. there's so much to learn!
Yes I climb on two lines on all my work videos. I was mainly showing off different systems in this video. Also a lot of my audience are also American that don't follow the two rope rule. I mainly climbed on the zigzag drt and hitch climber srt with rope wrench. Two zigzags can be awesome with 1 Srt 1 Drt but will be expensive unless you can find one second hand. It's metal so that shouldn't be an issue with loler as long as they have a receipt to know when it was put into service. I'm now going to be climbing on the rope runner Pro and a hitch climber but may be getting given a spider jack 2.1 to try by ART
Awesome video!!! ALL what you need about climbing compressed into one clip! Really enjoyed watching you flying like a squirrel 🐿️ on the RRP ! It would be nice to see you doing a Tree work but using srs as a main system ! Either moving rope as the backup or another srs ! So two SRS would be very educational to watch! I am wondering how would you cut certain tree species using srs. I guess it doesn't matter when you are doing reduction because you can start from top to bottom however when doing full removal i always start from bottom to the top. How would you do for example medium size Oak or ash using both srs? When you need to go up 1m to another branch? Would you connect your rope through knee and foot ascender Just for 3 steps And then disconnect all of it? Then again when you move up and again again... What would be the best way but let's say moving rope doesn't exist, it's banned, too dangerous 😅 Only srt allowed.
Excellent basic explanation of the technique’s that were demonstrated. Your articulation and demonstration was amazingly easy and straightforward. Well worth watching. Good job.
Fun Fact: the melody of what was used for our Star Spangled Banner was written around 1775 by John Stafford Smith, and was originally entitled “To Anacreon in Heaven”. It was about the ancient Greek poet Anacreon, who loved drinking wine, and it was first performed in a London gentleman’s music club called the Anacreontic Society. It became a popular English drinking song. MANY sets of lyrics have been set to this melody - the Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key being only one of them. So please give our British friend a break here for using the melody of “To Anacreon in Heaven”, as one of his countrymen wrote it before it was used as the melody of our national anthem!
Awesome job man and great video! I love it when folks take their stuff on up into the tree and give us a demo! Heck YEAAAA!

Thanks from a veteran 👍
Awesome summary! I just do it for fun and use the RAD system with a petzl ID, ascender and pulley ❤
Hey bro can you link me or post what all I need for that friction saving rope you ran the life line thru
@@rebelfromva hello so it's the stein cambium saver with a self made prusic with a ring through it
Nice. Just got quoted 12,000 for a tree removal. Think im gonna buy some gear and do it myself
Be very careful, it's not as easy as it looks

Your next step after would be the rope wrench and knee aceneder (HAAS)

@@TPOTTS_TREES I've been researching the two rope systems and have been leaning more towards ddrt but I guess I'll have to research the SRT.
@@tuanas458I did both in one day I say learn both but I loved SRT

Only srt allowed.
If it was only srt and I had a short ascent I would probably just use my right foot ascender and pull my system up manually/ clip in my chest harness
Roperunner is the only mechanical I've not tried?..or bought ..seems kinda long like zigzag and chicane.or stiff to release ..???
The akimbo is just as good
Rope Runner Pro, once adjusted to your rope, is silky smooth and fast to attach/ detach
@@CatDaddySteve I have used both and probably do prefere the RR but the akimbo is nice and small

Recently done both my climbing courses and was told no more than half a metre above your main anchor. I’m still far from an expert though
good introductions, but while windy the sound ist bad this time
I'm going to get a wireless microphone to clip to myself in the future on these types of videos for better audio for you all
What's your body height?
5"7
I've seen local arborists use monkey fist knots instead of throw lines more honestly
Depends how high you have to throw it
Don’t use are national anthem as a joke men and women give their life a serve for us all, the common wealth included.
