- Unlike many games in the Souls genre, Lies Of P focuses heavily on its story through both its characters and environment without leaving it to the item descriptions or RUclipsrs to do the heavy lifting. Joining me (Matty) is executive producer Dustin Furman and Punchin' Up's Gene Park to answer your burning questions about Lies Of P. Is it too close to the From Soft games where it fails to set itself apart? What do we make of THAT ending with THAT sequel setup? What of the bosses that whopped us one too many times? Just wanted to point out P is the Tin man. If I only had a heart. The P organ is his heart. You will play as the boy again to assist Dorthy.
Finally finished this game. The NP fight was absolutely brutal. Overall great experience. Wow, so impressed.
I can't believe you guys didn't mention the jester puppet! The clown for sure was tough, but the jester terrified me. The way he chases you down and doesn't stop! I had such a hard time with him and when you encounter him the 2nd time in Arch Rift, I just let him and the monsters duke it out while I watched.
Yea, that Jester is way worse, he has active moves that charge at your leaving no room to heal

Usually I don’t care about spoilers but man… that end credit scene sounds incredible, and I wish I got to experience it unspoiled. I’m so excited for anything this studio makes.

I really do hope lies of p is gonna be like the Fables universe. All the fables in one world. Kinda like Shrek too lol.
The main issue with copying a popular game is you get so many lackluster clones, which the souls-like subgenre has tons of. It happened with shooters in the 90s after Doom, platformers in the late 80s/90s after Mario, and with third-person shooters after Gears of War. It's rare when you get a game that uses those elements in a new creative way. Straight copying is lazy and uninspired while homage, which Lies of P imo falls under, is creative.
Excellent discussion fellas! Lies of P was incredible and if Baldur's Gate 3 didn't blow my socks off, this would 100% be my GOTY. It is severely underrated and will probably not be on most people's GOTY list, but it is a huge success nonetheless. Can't wait to see where it goes from here!

I'm surprised nobody spoke of how people's saved games randomly get deleted for no reason. In ANY game its unacceptable. It ruined the game for me. After playing for 4 hours on ps4, my saved game disappeared. I reluctantly restarted, only for it to happen again 6 hours in. Beware anyone playing this game. Your save may dissappear forcing you to start over again. What a waste of money
This game was amazing. I for sure hope they wait with their DLC until after the Elden Ring DLC is out for a while. ER will take me another 100-140 hours I would guess (replaying for sure). I would love to get the Lies of P DLC some months after the Elden Ring one. Perfect pacing of my next year of gaming :)

It’s weird…it took me 20 tries to beat Laxasia and about 45 for Nameless Puppet.
And it took me like 15 for Sword Saint. Owl [Father] in the burning building? Three days.

Just beat this on gamepass. Was really surprised at the quality of it. Souls knock offs tend to be awful, but this game is just as good as bloodborne if you ask me
I really enjoyed my time with Lies of P but the lack of enemy stagger on the puppet enemies paired with poor telegraphing and a couple of ridiculous attack strings really made it more frustrating than it needed to be imo. A lot of this game felt like Elden Ring endgame which I also didn't enjoy that much comparatively.
Weirdly enough the new Lords of the Fallen does all of this better while being inferior in many other aspects respectively, which evens both games out in terms of quality for me personally.

Lies of P is my favorite souls game mainly because it had more direct storytelling. Everytime I beat a FS game I generally have no idea what’s going on in the world lol

Honestly I hated Gemini and he constantly ruined the mood and atmosphere of an otherwise incredible experience, but to each their own and if he's part of the Lies of P flair going forward then so be it.
The side quest with the woman in quarantine triggered dialogue from him that made me immediately google whether or not it was possible to mute him permanently ;d
Just replayed this exact sequence on a fresh NG+0 and the nerd didn't say anything to ruin the moment, so I guess the lil guy can be varying degrees of annoying depending on how lucky you are.

2023 best souls like was Lords of the Fallen. Lies of P had some fundamental mechanics that were flawed.
Yeah this game is blatant plagiarism. Don’t think it does anything better than souls.
I think you could argue it elevates the trick weapon system in a way. Being able to switch handles and blades is really cool. I’m only 7 hours in and that’s the coolest thing in the game as opposed to souls games in my opinion
Soulslikes suck. Except for Star Wars Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor.
