Just wanted to say a big thank you for this video. It is very well put together and it allowed me to make some amazing stencils in such a short time. This has opened up a whole new world of artistic possibilities for me, rather that using stencils that other people have made, I can now create my own :)! Keep up the Amazing work, you are fantastic!
Ya know Sara, at first I didn't have a clue what you were talking about but then listening and watching you explain everything I fully understood it all in the end. Thank you young lady.
Great tip for creating those layers, I've never seen that before. But I still can't work out how on earth you would cut out the details on the two darker layers.. The dots and details are minute! Do you have a video showing the final cut layers? It looks awesome on screen, just wondering how you would cut all the details? Cheers
I was told once to blur the image so that some of the gradients and tiny details get removed, but I dont think that works for all images and it doesnt look as good. Try that and see if it works out ;D
is there an effect to make the details of the shawl's fabric in the dark layer cuttable? i mean like less detailed? how would you even go about cutting that?
This video helped a lot! I just have one question, how do you print them out big? Like the size of your skateboards. How do you resize them? Or do you use a big printer?
This is how I did it using Photoshop. Open the layer but first select the size by inches, lets say 25.5 x 33 inches thats 9 sheets of regular paper 8.5 X 11 x 9. After you open the image in whatever large size you want divide the image in 9 8.5 x 11 squares and save them individually and name them 1-9 so you know where they go once you print all 9. Print them out and do full sheet, if for some reason they come out with a boarder just cut it out and then tape all the pieces together, you're going to do this with every layer you create just make sure to print them in light grey to save on ink. Hope this helps.
The darkest layer must be quite hard to cut with all the shadows and everything... Do you you just print it like this and cut as precisely as you can or do you manage to make it look a little more simple before starting cutting it ? Btw, thanks for your videos, as a beginner, the stuff your doing is a good inspiration ! I really like it !
What do you use for you stencils? posterboard? Your tutorial produces the best multilayer stencils compared to all the other ones i've seen, awesome job.
This way really helps! but i just wanted to ask what you did with the islands around the stencils? I noticed a bunch of them when i did mine so i wanted to ask how you corrected them
Just want to say thank you for taking the time to make these videos! Your a very talented unique artist! Keep up the good work, look forward to future videos/tutorials! Ty!
i liked ur video! not gonna lie...im still a bit confused when it comes 2 the layer part? maybe thats b/c im computer stupid or i smoke waaay 2 much pot? i am a artist and im really getting n2 street art. is there any way i could get more tips 4rm u? i will share ur work on my page. i live n alabama so street art is very new and looked down upon here? thanks again sara....U ROCK
The way your stencils look on here and your actual printed out stencil you used to make the skateboard deck are different, how do you get from this to that? Anyone please help.
Hi Simply Sara art. I have been following the way of doing multi stencil layers. A huge question. When they gave him a humbral to the image, you continue with the selection and range of colors, which squeeze command right away, I can not hear well what you say in the video of what you do to select everything and left a layer?
Great tutorial. Thank you. For us beginners it would be helpful if you showed how you cut this out. Lots of detail on this piece, just wondering how you go about making this a stencil.
how do you handle the problem with the island-layers, when cutting out the stencil for spraying? btw: very cool way for generating a multi layer, i did it with a completely other technique.
Can you make a second video on what to do afterwards? I don't really know how to cut it because there are some parts that don't connect to the stencil. Thanks! This is the best video that I could find!
You are very talented ! Do you cut the darkest layer like in the video ? If so i cant begin to understand how you do that. Also what kind of paper do you use ? Keep up the good work you're awesome !
I think you missed explaining how the white layer works with this stencil. Even tho there is only three layers there is a white fill. So you would also need to cut the outline for that as well as your base colour. Then generally paint the lightest colour to the darkest if your base is a light colour. Do you have an image of the painted version as that would be killer cutting out all that black
I'm wanting to get into this I learned some useful stuff here but my question is what do you cut out all the black i really dont understand on multi layer single layer is easier yeah all black but this idk
Just a quick question When u print them out what do I do about the islands that be created Like I try we to cut mine out but there was a White Island right in the middle of the black layer If iam making any sense please reply
really helpful, just one cuestion, how to cut the darker layer with so much detail? i mean they are texture that cannot cut with the cutter, any suggestion? thanks
hi, thanks for the video, very helpful. just had one question though, after you've made the three layers how do you save them individually so that you can be able to print all three layers but seperately, like one layer per paper?
Sara, can you make a video on how you painted this one? (If you want to paint this) cause I'm a little confused which one to paint first and second and third. Thanks anyhow
amazing job.. Greetings from Chile! well, I have a question. when it comes to cutting. Do you apply like a filter to the layers? because after finished the process the layers doesn't look so sharp. Seems quite hard to cut it and looks like grainy. some info. about it would be nice. Again, beautiful work :D
Thanks :) well when I have the stencils on paper i have to take some detail off just because they're so small or have to draw the details myself since it would be difficult to cut out
Hello I wanted to congratulate you for your work. I have a small question to ask you How do you get a big picture on photoshop without it pixelize Thank you and congratulations for your work
The Gaming Noobs it depends on the type of spray paint. there are acrylic spray cans that dry pretty quick and you can do it 30 secs after taking off the stencil
so when u draw them out, how do u get ur design on the paper? like do u print out? or like what? idk if im making sense lol... like once u make ur multi layer stencil on Photoshop and if i want to make the design pretty big how do you transfer the design?
great tutorial! when/how are you dealing with areas that need bridges? still in photoshop on each single layer? and do you know whether this works in gimp the same way? :)
I must say your work is awesome I do have a question how do I color eyes each layer that's the one problem I've always had with running Photoshop I've never been able to figure out how to colorize each individual layer any help would be appreciate it
ahh.. hmm.. ma'am i have a question about multi layer.. the cut outs from your other video "Custom skateboard deck". the proccess that you do is the same way as a silk screen printing?? for the multi layer colors... sorry for the wrong grammars.. but i would like to know. it is for our school project :)
I bridge them. I should of showed how i bridged them in the video. maybe in a new one. but what i do it I just go around with the eraser and erase all the unnecessary parts. like for example the face on the light layer i just make a bridge where the scarf is since the medium layer is going to cover it up anyways
hi sara. On your clearer stencil, the face is white and when you ll cut out the grey you ll have this piece of white disconnected from the rest. how did you manage to make a one piece stencil as we can see it on an other video?
First, you are an amazing artist 🎨 Second, I really want to know how you cut them and make them as a pattern, I mean if there is a black area with a little white in it how do you cut in and keep.the white? 😅 im sorry maybe I did not gave you a good example but maybe u understood me
Hi, I have some questions. How can I print the layers, how can I use color in the layers and how many layers are required to get more realism? Thanks a lot for the videos :)
what Photoshop do you use? I want to get a version that does what you and others show but when I look at adobes site they have so many versions and types;I'm going to use it for basically making stencils etc.
In photoshop use posterize. Personally I change image to greyscale. Play with brightness/contrast if needed. Posterize (here you choose the number of layers/colors). Then basically follow the video with thresholds to get your black and white layers.
once you cut each stencil out your need reference makes on each stencil. So they all line up. Measure from top centre half way top and bottom centre horizontal and vertical
Hi ! Thanks you for this great tutorial ! But I have a question; after doing this, you cut the shadows parts of yours different layers and you superpose layer 1 on layer 2 ? *sorry for my orthography i'm not english ^^' * So good job ! And good luck for after ;)

Will u do a video on how u cut ur layers out like do u print it on it or trace it to a piece of poster bored?
Great tip for creating those layers, I've never seen that before. But I still can't work out how on earth you would cut out the details on the two darker layers.. The dots and details are minute! Try that and see if it works out ;D
Bridges
u can use the "cutout" filter to make them as less detailed as u like
Ok great. Thanks for your help guys :)
I would love to see how you cut them out after.. I am very curious, and interested..
me too 😀
+Natasja Arildsen My Leaf video showed me cutting out a full stencil. You can check it out here:

+Simply Sara Art thanks
Were can i buy your art sara i realy Want to buy the four 4 layer skateboats
single layered not the same
is there an effect to make the details of the shawl's fabric in the dark layer cuttable? i mean like less detailed? how would you even go about cutting that?
One of the best multi layer stencil videos i've seen! Thanks for making this :)
This video helped a lot! I just have one question, how do you print them out big? Like the size of your skateboards. How do you resize them? Or do you use a big printer?
you dont need a big printer, just orint them out in pieces
This is how I did it using Photoshop.

Underrated artist on RUclips. Got a new Subscriber.
First time here trying to learn how this works. This tutorial is excellent. Thank you.

Awesome :) love it.
please make another tutorial about, how you make those photoshop into outline, and how to cut it properly
Getting so many ideas after watching your videos. Nice work!
Sigurður Elíasson Thanks!!!
Hey, cool video. Can you explain exactly which parts you cut out on each stencil?
@Chris Jones Agreed. This is now to make layers in Photoshop that theoretically become a stencil, I guess. Kind of a misleading title.
Thankyou so much! This tutorial was so helpful and I ended up doing my art project on multilayer stencils and referenced you as my main artist :)
What a great tutorial. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Your work is outstanding!!!
Ty!

Good tutorial. I never thought of using the threshold for multi layers. I might have to try it out once.
How do you print onto poster board? Do you have to take it somewhere??
Hi Simply Sara art.

ur workflow makes so much more sense than mine. mind if i adapt?! thx for the video and keep up the great work! cheers!
Can you make a second video on what to do afterwards? I don't really know how to cut it because there are some parts that don't connect to the stencil. Thanks! This is the best video that I could find!
hey love your work! but I have a question: how do you cut out your stencils? because in the video the layers are still very detailed on the edges.
You are very talented !

Ulises Rafael Molluso thats my question also.
hi, thanks for the video, very helpful. just had one question though, after you've made the three layers how do you save them individually so that you can be able to print all three layers but seperately, like one layer per paper?
GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL
I looked up so many tutorials, and this one is the best I saw so far :)
Thanks! :D
I'm glad I could help! :)

Hello
I wanted to congratulate you for your work.
I have a small question to ask you
How do you get a big picture on photoshop without it pixelize
Thank you and congratulations for your work
Hi, great video but I have a question, after you print these out what part do you cut out? Sorry I'm so lost, and new to art
how do you cut after the print?
use a scalp or if you have or know someone who has a laser cutter use that instead
no shit i think his question is more about the details on how to go about cutting it out
What do you use to print your stencils....
Love your work, true inspiration !
Thank you so much for the tutorial. I was struggling at first but keep watching until I get it.. Thank you
just a quick question, I see you use layered stencils, so how long do you wait before applying new layers on the canvas
Awesomeee, anyway I got a question, whats your solution if one of your stencils has a white area surrounded by black? Thanksss I love your work BTW
What kind of paper do you cut it out on and how to you transfer it to that paper? I'm talking the bigger stencils you make.
great tutorial! when/how are you dealing with areas that need bridges? still in photoshop on each single layer? and do you know whether this works in gimp the same way? :)
What type of paper do you use for the stencil? Amazing work!
I must say your work is awesome I do have a question how do I color eyes each layer that's the one problem I've always had with running Photoshop I've never been able to figure out how to colorize each individual layer any help would be appreciate it

What portion do you cut out?
Nice tutorial. Different from ways I've seen. Would you do your islands on a new layer or you bridge them?
I bridge them. I should of showed how i bridged them in the video. maybe in a new one. but what i do it I just go around with the eraser and erase all the unnecessary parts. like for example the face on the light layer i just make a bridge where the scarf is since the medium layer is going to cover it up anyways
So when you go to print out the layers, you just print each layer individually? And what about the white layer? Do you make a layer for it?
I love her voice
hi sara. On your clearer stencil, the face is white and when you ll cut out the grey you ll have this piece of white disconnected from the rest. how did you manage to make a one piece stencil as we can see it on an other video?
I am new and I enjoyed your video. One question what is the program you are using? Thanks
Hey Sara!
After that do you print each layer separately?
what Photoshop do u use or is best for stencils. I have ps elements 7 and it dosnt have some of the functions necessary thanks for ur help
they are there under enhance [color] and filter [hue]
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much!
Awesome thanks for you hard work!
Best tutorial ever!
so afterwards do you print them out or how do you get them onto the paper to cut them out
First, you are an amazing artist 🎨
Second, I really want to know how you cut them and make them as a pattern, I mean if there is a black area with a little white in it how do you cut in and keep.the white? 😅 im sorry maybe I did not gave you a good example but maybe u understood me
FResh Fresh Fresh
You're killin it!
Thank you
That application is photos or I can do it even from paint application form my pc?
Amazing job on teaching how to do this!!
Thanks! ;)
i was wondering how your style effects color choice, can you expand on this / thx. wonderful video.
What do you press at 3.20 to stop it going fuzzy after delete? Cheers. Great vid too.
Command + D
Or Ctrl + D :)
That is how you deselect!
how do you print each layer out?? I know you said to copy them to paper but I cant figure out how.
thanks for any help you can give
Thank you! That made it way Easier then what I was doing I was using the blending option
This would sound basic, sorry. Wich paint version are you using? The one in my computer doesn't allow me to do the treshold thing...
Very Clear.. good results!
Which software you are using?? One which my friend used didn't get us good results
Yo, that was sick! Sweet Vid!
Yes, could you do a tutorial on bridges and islands and how you personally deal with those?
hey sara nice toturial, I have a cuestion, how i can print it?
great tutorial, It is slightly different for Photoshop Elements 12 but I was able to duplicate every step - thanks
Sara! You rock. Thank you!!!
how would you minimize the detail so you could cut them out?
Do a gaussian blurr before the proccess
In photoshop use posterize. Personally I change image to greyscale. Play with brightness/contrast if needed. Posterize (here you choose the number of layers/colors). Then basically follow the video with thresholds to get your black and white layers.
Is this regular Photoshop or a different program?
What tool did you use to select the background on the bottom layer to delete it?
you're awesome sara.
WOOT Thanks for bringing this back
What app or software do you use in this video? So I could use it
do you have videos of the next part in the process?
once you cut each stencil out your need reference makes on each stencil. So they all line up. Measure from top centre half way top and bottom centre horizontal and vertical
would like to know what program you are using ????
Hi ! Thanks you for this great tutorial ! But I have a question; after doing this, you cut the shadows parts of yours different layers and you superpose layer 1 on layer 2 ?
*sorry for my orthography i'm not english ^^' *
So good job ! And good luck for after ;)
I'm sorry i'm not really sure what you're asking
Have you done any grip tape arts?
I wanna try this on something durable and also bigger. Any ideas on how to blow them up?
bigger: blockposter.com at least that's how I do it.
