This is the best multi layered stencil tutorial I have watched 6 of them and this by far has a better end result. I would love to see your cutting out and painting vids xx
Can you make another video on how to do layered stencils perhaps with a Silohette cutting machine. By far this is the most "straight to the point" informative video, especially for beginners. Great Video!!!!
Great video..Will defo give it a try..I assume its the same method for coloured images..would b great to see how the cut and paint process would go together
THANK GOD I FOUND YOU, I've watched a lot of videos, they made it in different ways and i was so confused because it was too much for a beginer like me but you did it easy! thank youuuu, keep doing this kind of tuturials pls
Great tutorial on how to make the layers. Next question...Does anyone know how to take the layers and turn them into the data for Cricut? The only way I can think of is saving each layer as a separate image and loading each into Cricut.
Fantastic tutorital, thanks for putting this together! It's nice to see a version that doesn't rely on using the Threshold feature. Would love to see a tutorial (or just some quick tips!) on how to do this with multi-colored stencils. Been watching your Hulk and Iron Man videos to see if I can reverse engineer it but there's definitely a steep learning curve. Thanks again for all you do!
This was so helpful! Your teaching style is intuitive and easy to follow. Your voice is easy on the ears. Thank you!! This is def the best video I've found so far. I had no trouble replicating your steps and I have never used PS in my life! Love it
THANK YOU!! I have been struggling with this for months. I have tried Gimp, and Got Photoshop Elements, which isn't photoshop, I learned that too late! I want to cut these stencils out with my silhouette machine, can you continue a video that will show you how to save each layer and how to maintain the size through out so it can be pieced back together precisely? I can't seem to get the stencil to save separately to import into my silhouette or to save them, at least not in the other programs that make you save and change each extension so it doesn't over write the previous layer?
Oh, and I think what I want might be a reverse stencil? I want to get an image onto a painted canvas I have done and to have some of my painting show through. I would guess that in this case I just wouldn't paint those parts. for example a turtle. I want a colored (brown maybe) shell but in the centers of each shell division I want the canvas color to show. How would I isolate stuff like that? I need a tutor! :)
i think this tutorial base on the shadow of the object. What if i wanna do stencil base on the color of the object? Please give me some advice or tutorial.
nice video! Would love to see some of your work. quick question: how are you dealing with islands/ values?? this approach seems somewhat technical and honestly makes me wonder how you keep mentioned islands in place? thanks and keep it up :)
PMCS S I don't draw out my bridges ahead of time. I cut them as I come across islands afterwards. Although that sounds like a good idea I might look into doing that from now on!
I watched your video again trying to do each step as I went. PS has moved some of its tools so they are hidden in the new 2020 program version. Also how did you get inches to show up instead of pixels when you resize? I can't figure it out. Mine shows pixels and I don't have any idea what size that is?
Me again. I DID IT!!! Thank you. THANK YOU!! So you didn't show us how to print each layer, save the layers separately or any of that. I don't even have a problem printing it then scanning it back into my computer as long as it all fits together at the end. OH I need to change the white layer, my cutting machine doesn't read white. How do I do that, especially after I have already made the layers, can you??
Bro! You are really dope! You explain it so simply like nobody else. One more question, on the first tutorial you used to create a stencil "filter gallery" Right now you use "thresholds" What's the difference? I think "filter gallery" gives your more turns
Fobnart There really isn't all that much of a difference if any to be honest. But this is how I originally learned how to make stencils and later I stumbled across the filter gallery. So in my older tutorial I showed the filter gallery way of doing things. I still use it but sometimes I go this route as well :)
i feel like an idiot but i cannot wrap my head around last step where you fill each layer with the appropriate color. to start im selecting my color from the wand , layer via cut then discarding the cut layer with just the extracted color.i either end up with really wonky and nearly impossible layer shapes or ,id really appreciate any help , thasnks agfain cheers!
R these stencils avalible ?? Im new to stencil art ... just started today.. sadly my computer skills are so poor i couldnt make these myself but my artworks up there my pencil sketchs look like black n white photos ... stencils look like so much fun .. being new to it all here in the uk iv no idea where to get good stencils :( i dont trust ebay as theres to many people out there selling crap for a fast buck :(
if this is printed without desaturate and then spray it to make colours all i need is just more printing and cutting but the process is still the same, right?
I'm doing this exact same process but every time I work on one layer the image gets more and more transparent, seems like every layer via cut I do removes some color. Any idea why?
Prototype TV Thank you Prototype I just went ahead and bought me the adobe photoshop element 2018 version yesterday night the layout is different so i kept rewatching your videos and looking for the tools that you were using it took me to this afternoon to learn this program and im happy to say i just finished my first Batman "Dark Knight" multi layer stencil and man did i feel proud. My wife loved it and my kids were like wow that is so cool. So thank you Big Time my passion has developed even more for this art. I would like to ask you when you are doing more then 3 layers what types of different spray paint colors do you use for each stencil?
Joey Lou Hey man that's fantastic! I'm glad this was able to help you out a bit. That's an excellent question. You can actually do a 5 layer stencil using only 3 cans. I plan to do a new tutorial video explaining how that is done! So stay tuned my friend :)
Each time I try this, I either end up with little squigigly "outlines" on on of the plates, or there ends up being a slight line where the colors dont quite meet up due to the magic wand ants.. Is there a setting I'm missing to prevent this?
Yes, but you cannot cut this as a stencil. The color that you cut at a time, must not surround the color that you already painted, e.g. dark gray must not surround black (but it does) , because then you cannot paint it, you have to put those pieces in their places and hold them there. Though, I'm wondering how you cut it out (if you did), and if anybody can share his solution with me, if there is a solution. :D
KirLeuteris This is how I make my stencils and I'm able to cut each one just fine (making bridges to handle islands is something I did not cover however in this video) I print each layer individually, one at a time, by deselecting the "eye icon" of all the other layers I am not currently focused on.
Indeed i was refering about the "islands" issue, but i solved it through this technigue: /watch?v=BNfqdcRVnoM (2:20) I think that the "bridges" solution , ruins the stencil. Thank you anyway !
This is the best multi layered stencil tutorial I have watched 6 of them and this by far has a better end result. I would love to see your cutting out and painting vids xx
❤❤❤❤this is perfect. I am new to airbrushing with stencils and wamm this pops up. Simple and efficient. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!

One of the BEST tutorial videos I have ever watched!
THIS IS THE ONE, Thank you my man, been looking for the layer isolation process forever. Bless.
This is the BEST tutorial I've seen on how to make multi-layered stencils! Super easy to follow and understand. Excellent work!
Great video..Will defo give it a try..I assume its the same method for coloured images..would b great to see how the cut and paint process would go together
This was to the point. Definitely what I needed.
THE BEST tutorial on here for stencil work!
THANK GOD I FOUND YOU, I've watched a lot of videos, they made it in different ways and i was so confused because it was too much for a beginer like me but you did it easy! thank youuuu, keep doing this kind of tuturials pls
Absolutely incredible
Hey - loved this and wanted to see the others you mentioned about cutting and prepping. How do I find your other vids?
You did this fast & understandable. Thank you !
Great tutorial on how to make the layers. Next question...Does anyone know how to take the layers and turn them into the data for Cricut? The only way I can think of is saving each layer as a separate image and loading each into Cricut.
Still the best tutorial up to date
This was tremendously helpful. Would have loved to see more from you.

How do you manage "islands" like the space between R2D2's body & leg? If I cut a paper stencil, that part would fall out?
Video is good and informative, but why I'm I straining to hear what is being said, why the need for music?
Excellent
Link the video to remove background, please!!!!!!
good stuff brotha
thank you everybody else made there tutorials so confusing this is exactly what i was looking for thanks man
What about bridging? (keeping all the small unattached pieces in place) Will you go back and bridge them later?
Awesome vid!! Anymore stencil tutorials coming? Like printing and cutting?
any videos on how you cut out your layers?? would be much appreciated thanks
also what kind of stencil paper you use for that? thanks
Amazing tutorial. Thanks
i think this tutorial base on the shadow of the object. What if i wanna do stencil base on the color of the object? Please give me some advice or tutorial.

quick question: how are you dealing with islands/ values??
this approach seems somewhat technical and honestly makes me wonder how you keep mentioned islands in place?
thanks and keep it up :)
Thx for a good video. Do you in the next step draw out all bridges before printing?
PMCS S I don't draw out my bridges ahead of time. I cut them as I come across islands afterwards. Although that sounds like a good idea I might look into doing that from now on!

Maaaaan ! Was waiting for you for awhile!!!!
Fobnart I know man I've been away for a minute! Sorry to keep you waiting. More content coming bro thanks for the support ✌
Bro! You are really dope! You explain it so simply like nobody else.

Good luck to you.

where do u find the colors for each layer....its hard to find that many shades of gray in spray cans
i think custom paint can be fill in empty cans....like auto painting....
Would this method work on a vinyl cutter?
I do not have any experience in using one, so I am not sure.
Really helpful!
Great video.. but what is the app/program that you are using to do this?
Adobe Photoshop.
if this is printed without desaturate and then spray it to make colours all i need is just more printing and cutting but the process is still the same, right?
I'm doing this exact same process but every time I work on one layer the image gets more and more transparent, seems like every layer via cut I do removes some color. Any idea why?
What happened to the next vid 😭😭😭 I need that maaaaaaaaaan
thanks
U r awesome
thank you
Great... What about a color stencil. How to make that?
Carlos Malaki coming soon✌🏾
still waiting ;P
please bro, make it :D
All you gotta do is the layers you want with color, cut it out and use that color when you are stenciling
Just found the video sorry for the other post asking if you could make a video. Is photoshop better then gimp?
Joey Lou no problem man! Well I can't say for sure which is better because I've never used gimp myself.
I am preparing another NEW tutorial that will address that issue.
Why no more videos?😢
how do you remove the background?
Anybody know how to remove the solid black like around the whole image?
Is there a way to make it more simple, so that you dont have to cut those difficult spots
I believe that if you apply a gaussian blur to the image before anything else it turns out actually cuttable
Yes, but you cannot cut this as a stencil. The color that you cut at a time, must not surround the color that you already painted, e.g. dark gray must not surround black (but it does) , because then you cannot paint it, you have to put those pieces in their places and hold them there.

I'm terrible at stencils. Any chance you take multi layer stencil creation commission jobs?
I sure do. For all commissions, please send me an email.
