  • Part 3
Installing the kerb edgings around the driveway and the first row of blocks around the perimeter. All edging blocks are bedded on concrete to retain the infill blocks. The inspection chambers are modified to take the new lids and the aco threshold drains are installed on concrete along the house to take the water run off. The kerb edgings on this particular project are pointed with grout.

Looking forward to part 4, I wish we would get a job laying Premium paving such a marshalls drivesys but the cost of it its staggeringly high especially with the addition sub requirements which they recommend, tegula paving alone is fairly expensive and is out of budget for 90% of our customers, fantastic job lads.

Thanks for the feedback.. It was nice to use a different block for a change. Definitely worth the money if the customer can stretch to it. Hope your jobs go well 👍

Thanks very much! A lot of people watching these are retired tradesman who like to see work and keep up with modern methods. We stopped building gardens when we recently hit our 40's. Its why I filmed the last few years. Will be more craft and horticultural content soon. Thanks for the feedback 👍🏻👍🏻

Very nice work!! I want to try the semi dry mix with the 50/50 ballast. Can blocks be laid on 20mm compacted limestone rather than compacted MOT sub base? Not sure if anyone has ever done this byt my old paving slabs (38mm thick) were bedded on this base fo r30 years with no probs.

Thanks glad you like it 👍🏻 I cant advise it, but permeable block driveways are laid on a similar course aggregate so it allows water to drain through the blocks. They use a fine stone crush to lay on or add a non woven geo membrane over the aggregate to stop the bedding layer washing into the sub-base

Good video and very helpful. However, I have a question for something a little more challenging. I am doing the same thing, but with the driveway, and I can't use your radius stick because there's a large tree in the way. What's the trick to making a large radius that joins two lines that meet at a 90° angle with a tree that is in the way?

Great Question! You need to make a template and move it to the area. So nearby spray out your curve 1:1 (full size). If small you can cut the curve out of ply. If larger use a long strip of wood or plastic (what ever you can get thats long and flexible) then bend it round the cure. Fix it with a few diagonal battens (like the string holding the curve in a bow and arrow) then move it over and peg it at the right hight to run your blocks round.

What the hell is with the concrete :-). Placed on about 1 inch of concrete? And about 2 inches from each side? This is surely fast but not durable.
