What baffles me the most is, that there were people who had to pitch this movie idea, people who worked on the script, directors, actors, editors, marketing department and whatnot, and during all that process, all that work, not a single soul voiced the thought of "what the actual f*ck are we doing here?"

To be honest, the stage musical is already weird as hell, yet it became a huge hit. The movie just emphasized its bad parts while underplaying what good bits it has.

My mom showed me the original DVD for the musical and I loved it. It was so weird and fantastical and fun. Then this came out and IMMEDIATELY I knew they didn't understand what Cats was really about. It's all big celebrity names and CGI and acting like cats. I asked one of my friends about it, who went to go see it, and she said she felt "creatively drained," like the film sapped all inspiration and ability to create from her. Everyone knows this movie is awful, even fans of the original musical.

Thankful someone respects musicals, high boi has a point but clearly has never been to a professional quality play before. The cats movie was a complete disaster and gives musicals a bad name.
As someone who was in a local production I don't count the movie as Cats. You need lycra and legwarmers for Cats, or else I and every other performer has suffered Cats-specific costuming trauma for nothing.

This man is the bravest man I have ever seen, and the most resilient one, he had to sit through 1 hour and 50 minutes of pure pain just for us.
That's a naive estimation. He also had to sift through it at least once more to grab the clips that make up the video. This means he had to observe the movie at least twice.
I know the pain for me it wasnt the cats movie but the Musical in school and even our teachers came out of there not having enjoyed a Single second of it

All jokes aside, I agree to your opinion of this entire movie. Why can’t the cats musical movie be a 3D animated movie where animals walk, talk and sing like the characters in the Dreamworks Madagascar movies? It’s not that hard to not use ugly CGI on starring celebrities!

You either have to watch this with friends, or have seen it in the theatre. Best theatre experience I've ever had. Let me explain:
I saw this movie around the time it released, because my friend and I heard that this movie was going to have a patch after a few weeks. You hear me? A fucking PATCH, like it's a video game! This piqued our interest enough to see it twice (they just added extra fur or something, whatever, it's not important). The second time, we dragged my mom, brother, and other friend to the theatre, where behind us was another group. And boy... was it a good time! My friend and I reveled in how dumbfounded my family and other friend were, and the comments of the group behind us were golden. One girl, when Judi and Ian were on screen, just screams out in despair: "YOU TWO HAVE OSCARS!!!"
Oh, but the coup de grâce was the Macavity song. Now, it really isn't a bad song, Taylor does her job well. But the moment the song hits its high note, Idris comes dancing out... well, without his coat and hat on. Now... I know I will never get an answer, but I need to know why, out of all the cats in this movie, why the actual FUCK Idris's cat has fur the exact same color as his actual skin?! So he comes dancing out doing a silly-ass jig, looking buck-ass naked thanks to his fur, and all around me and my friend, we just hear the most agonized "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" As the song's climax tries to compete with these cries of despair, my friend and I almost die of laughter.
It was truly a movie-going experience that I will treasure forever.
The worst part is that Macavity’s song describes him as a ginger cat 😂

8:35 of all the trash moments in this film; and I know of course you saw this whole landfill of a movie, this for me having seen the play growing up in New York and watched the movie form 1993 . . . was the most fucking painful thing to watch. Especially given Mr. Mistoffolees was never some sheepish whimpering wuss who doesn't actually do anything. This scene was the most frustrating thing of a mountain of frustrations I had with this movie.

For those that say that this movie is just incredibly awful...You're right. It is horrific in the extreme. That being said, watching the ACTUAL Cats on stage was an incredible experience and I do not regret it in the least.
