How to start up your sprinkler system

- To activate your sprinkler system in spring it's actually quite easy. The key is to perform a slow sprinkler startup. Turn the water on partially, run the sprinklers, and let the air out. Once they are all starting to spray or bubble water, then turn the water pressure up.
This method to starting your sprinklers will prevent damage from water hammer effects. Don't burst your sprinkler heads and start the year off wrong!

I think it's pretty straight forward to open a main valve, but you didn't discuss opening the valves in the underground box. I've opened the main feed, but no water is coming out since they blew it out last year. Opening the valves in the box just shoots water out of the sprinklers without even turning them on.
very helpfyl video. good tips
you need to do a video about the different varieties of grass and how to recognize them. would be helpful
rusty Shackleferd yeah I have to do a bit more studying on that one. I'm not so good at iding right now.
Is an irrigation worth it in your area? How many zones you have and how much additional you pay in irrigation water?
Thanks for the informational video. But I can’t seem to get the “water hammer” to stop. I turned on the water slowly and let it run through all the sprinklers, but the thumping sound keeps shaking even after all the air is out of the lines. What would u suggest?
i swear this was soo helpful like OMMMMMMG.⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
I have a home with a sprinkler system and have no idea if it works… what would be my first step to see if it actually still runs
Hello
I have a few questions for you about how to use milorganite.
Does one have to irrigate the lawn first?
Does one have to add grass seed to the top of milorganite
Or
Mix it in with milorganite?
Please help
Newbie
Thank you
Milorganite is natural so you can apply it any time, any way. Now I would recommend not irrigating first because it smells bad when wet, so as you're spreading on the wet grass the smell will be stronger.
As for seeding the order doesn't matter either. The only thing I do is put peat moss on last. The peat moss will hold moisture in while the seed germinates.
Hunter Sprinkler System Acting up
Changed all valve diaphragms (new from HomeDepot) and solenoids (new from HomeDepot and all in closed position)
Tried switching wires from back and front lawn zones at controller and results as follows:
Front lawn zone works perfect, no leak at pressure vacuum breaker and starts quick
Back lawn zone starts late and pressure vacuum breaker leaks during spray (even after changing wires at controller)
After getting information as amateur, there is leak in back yard and i have changed two heads which originally did not come out and spray was minimal. Despite that back lawn still starts late and vacuum breaker still leaks during duration of spray. Maximum duration i manually set for 20 minutes for back lawn, still the same (starts late and vacuum breaker still leaks).
You being professional have knowledge and would you please help me in fixing back lawn zone.
What's the best time to water your grass in the morning or doing evening hours?
Darryl Tyler early morning. if you do it at night the lawn is moist all night increasing fungal pressure
How come every video I find, shows a copper line with a regulator outside of the house but my irrigation system doesn't have this? All I have is a main shutoff inside my house and a connection on the outside to hook an airline to, for blowing the lines out for winter.
Our regulations require it maybe yours don't? The copper thing is a backflow preventer, it prevents water from going backwards into the main line it the city water has issues.
Nice how to vid. Any way to save a few $$ to later spend on milorganite is a win!
mmacejko929 haha yeah!
Lmao nope he got it wrong off the bat!
