Thanks for the video. You could cut your work time in half by using the flexible tubing and just cutting a 1 line in the lawn with your shovel as opposed to 2 parallel lines and taking up the soil. The tube gets tucked down into the cut and you just mat the lawn back down. It's helpful if you have 2 people. 1 to lift the cut while the other feeds the tube down and you just move down the cut from there. I also recommend doing any extensive lawn work in the early part of Fall so that the lawn can recover over the winter and be all set when Spring rolls around.
Without flexible tubing to connect your spray heads, you will in time be breaking the main at each head if there is every any down pressure such as a child stepping on one head - dont ask how I know :-D Always connect from main to spray head with flexible tubing
Great content and advice on what you would do different. I want to install my own one day. Hitting that rock and all that gluing made me had flashbacks when I installed an inground pool by myself. Definitely need friends!
I think you did a great job as you said is under $400, if you decide to change procedure and adding up more hardware the cost will go very high. Next time start from corner instead of the middle of the yard and pop up along the house. however great job.
Excellent, excellent video. Providing me with knowledge and just as important, a comfort level for tackling a lawn sprinkler project. Video #2, here I come! Thanks much!
Having your utility lines marked would have been a good "what I'd do different". Especially cutting all the way across your front yard where all of them are coming into your home. :)
Great point! Always call before digging, but I had the lines marked a few months prior for a sewer line repair. Never want to hit the colorful tree roots.
Did you not read the description where it says, “Part 1 of the irrigation series. Stay tuned for the remaining videos on timer install, backfill and seeding.” 😊
Good to see ya on RUclips ✔ Subscription is safe! Guess all those beers and bratwursts we had in kindergarten finally sell out 🤣 cant wait for more content
Teflon tape on the sprinkler head was a mistake, also you should’ve added a few inches of lazy tube that connects your sprinkler head to your pipes because less chances at breaking your pipes and easier repair. Great video content thou.
Great video! I have wanted to do something very similar for awhile now but boring up a sidewalk has been the deal breaker for me. By chance did you install any blow out valves for winterization purposes?
I can tell those who have never installed UGS. They are the ones saying "great video". Most towns/cities have a code for backflow preventer which you make no mention of. I don't understand why you used two risers at the house instead of just adding a zone valve or two. Also, why not tap into the water line entering the house rather than install a hose bib through the finished wall. Finally, what provision have you made to blow out the lines to winterize? Or do you live in an area that doesn't freeze?
@@kr5289 check out the irrigreen videos I have. They are a little pricey but an absolutely worth it system if you’re into techy stuff. They run deals frequently.
TFS. Please wear goggles. Sunglasses. Please. My husband broke his leg as we were putting up a privacy fence. He was laid up for two months. I had to put on my big girl pants and keep working. I was nailing on a picket and missed the center of the nail; it fought back. It would have gone straight into my eye, but I had on glasses. Thank God! I care.😊
You should NOT be giving advice on this subject. Sprinkler heads are attached directly to pvc. The first time you hit it, it's broken. Your layout is completely wrong, but because of people like you, I make tons of money fixing their misttakes. Leave this to the professionals.
This is an excellent video of what not to do!😂 not 1 single thing was done correctly. This is an absolute butch job. They have special connectors for the sprinkler heads because we know 90's will never give you a straight head😂 I could go on and on, but it would be way too much writing! How do you make a youtube video of a diy sprinkler system but obviously never watched a youtube video on how to do a sprinkler system the right way😂😂 WOW!

I did end up adding flex tubing to some of the heads. Trial and error, I appreciate your input.
It’s actually a lateral line! Mains are before the shutoff to the heads!
@@tretre1692 pretty sure he just means the main water line for the sprinklers. Context would dictate anyway.
Great addition to this video. Thanks ...
I’m attempting to in stall my own sprinkler system . And I can use all the info I can get.
Great video bud! A lot of work into this and it will pay off you'll see. Those $120 for the trencher are definitely worth it lol 💪🏻
One hell of a trench manually done!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice. I would if mine was small area like that. I must rent, 11,000 front and back it too much to dig
Yeah, never again. I’ll rent a trencher for $200 from now on 😅
If any one is going to be doing this look up the willton thin line trenching spade. I used it to put my lines in the ground last year.
$200!!?!? there goes half my budget
@@mndovrkdrkmtr9951 it's definitely worth it just make sure the ground is kinda damp. Ware are you located at.

You should! And wow! An inground pool… that’s legit man!
Great video with a lot of quality information! Thank you! I wish we could have seen the system is operation.

What a soundtrack man! I love watching these satisfying work-videos and this is the best set heard so far💪

Dont listen to this guy. You are going to end up paying more for a professional to come and fix it.
Great video! Trencher for the win for sure. My back couldn’t handle all that.
My Buddy did almost the exact thing but used craftsman garden hoses for the lines. His was a small yard but it worked great

if it was me, I would not cover the glue joints until you get Pressure on the system so you could see if you have leaks or not
This guy looks like the young version of Doc.
That grass is nice. Coming from Texas
Thank you!
This video was fantastic! Thanks Vince! You rock dude
Thanks so much buddy!! I appreciate you!
didn’t even show the finished product or it working.
Thats what i was wondering. Thats annoying!
Did you not read the description where it says, “Part 1 of the irrigation series. Stay tuned for the remaining videos on timer install, backfill and seeding.” 😊
Professionally installed irrigation system
Great video... Thanks for sharing
Hey my name is vince also! Great video truly helpful! I just found your channel and im definitely subsribing now!
You want to dig deeper this way when you aerate in the fall you will not puncture your line
First, love the valuable video and the entire process a truly learning experience.
Thank you so much! Glad you learned something from it!
Hello. Where can I buy the tool to connect the hose to the nozzle?
I'm already sweating just watching the video, lot of work, how many hours did it take from beginning to end? specially the digging , Good Job!

Hahaha! Beers and brats are the keys to life.
Did I miss it?No video of the system working and watering the lawn?

Lazy tube is called funny pipe
on a new install like that with the glue you have it doesnt need primer. up to a certain size of pipe it says it on the bottle too
Old plumber habits, prime and glue it all. 🤷🏽♂️
Great video! I have wanted to do something very similar for awhile now but boring up a sidewalk has been the deal breaker for me. By chance did you install any blow out valves for winterization purposes?
No blow out valves but I have a plan for winter time. I’ll explain in next video. 😬
Very very helpful

We dug our own drench but now I am having a difficult time regulating the heads. To many heads? To much pressure? Heads to big? Any recommendations?
Where did you installed the backflow....
Nice 👍
Where is part 2? I want to do the backflow
Im cruous too . i want to see the second part and the finished results
what type of grass is that ?
KBG/PRG mix
Do you have winter where you are,,,, how do you drain the lines for winter?
We do have winter. I hook up an air compressor and blow them out. I’ll do a video on it this fall.
Hola buenas tardes dónde puedo conseguir este tipo d aspersor
ed bassmaster reference
Is it still working good for you I want to do this but I have a much larger yard
@@kr5289 it does. I would go with a 1” main line, add more heads closer, and make sure I wired it up with a controller tho.

Not too bad on 1.5x speed
Do you have to get permits to install DYI irrigation system
First! 💪🏻
Yeah bc you’re the man!
I'd use dope instead of tape.
May friend ay watch out the video to see the tes en you not didn’t
Spelling problems my friend it is my friend at watch out the video to see the test and you did not watch it? Is this what you are saying
No need to put teflon on sprinkles!!!
yeah right! burying a hose and attaching a sprinkler head is not a sprinkler system.
Intro too long
Are you people for real with this nonsense? ridiculous
Wow I’m an irrigation tech. And just WOW….. ugh. Stick to your day job
