I think this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written...And writing it was only HALF the battle. How do you play, sing, produce something this awesome? I've been listening to this song for many years and still everytime I listen to it, my jaw just drops! Nobody's perfect but these guys are about as close as you can come.
The Sherinian and Moore period had a more melodic/art-rock kind of feel. Jordan lost this aspect of his playing and now relied on sheer technicality. Plus, the loss of MP made also another impact on the band's sound.
Their music has always made me feel good .. mostly at times of low .. Thank God for u guys .. Wish once in my life time i get to see them perform live ..
Thank you very much! I appreciate that a lot. After all, most people couldn't have talked again after food poisoning like that, but he can still sing magically.
James LaBrie is a very underrated singer, and people criticise his operatic approach. But just think about how hard these songs are to sing, and think about how many people could pull them off, and then you realise that out of millions of singers, LaBrie is the only one who can complement Dream Theater so well. And from there it is clear just how special he is - especially considering all the vocal difficulties he's been through.
it was for me and when I found it I was amazed. The piano playing reminds me so much of the great Freddie Mercury from Queen. Derek did an awesome job as well as DT.
ive seen this band live 4 times and every single time its freaking amazing!! i feel bad for the people that cant appreciate their music nd only like to talk crap about them these guys are truly talented!! and they are my all time favorite band cant wait to see them with iron maiden this month!
@KazeReload Thank you. I was going to see them with Iron Maiden but tickets were expensive and sold out in a day for the Toronto tour date. Ill see them one day... even if i have to travel as far as you did haha.
Sherinian is an excellent keybord player. I saw him live with Malmsteen, many years ago. Portnoy is an excellent behind the drums, but not really behind the mic!.
i have the whole discography and falling into infinity was my first disc(year 2000), everybody said hollow year is awesome, and it was but than i discovered anna lee and it was really an amazing song, until now is one of my favorite songs, i recommend you to listen to eve is not in any disc, it was in b side of the silent man, is really awesome.
For all of the people complaining about DT's current sound vs their older/earlier sound and don't like the new sound, all I have to say is just how many bands have the same sound now as they did 20+ years ago and how many of those do you still listen to and like?
@roviscoyt If you're looking for the studio version of the song it's on Falling Into Infinity. I don't know if this version is sold in CD format. This video is available on a double feature DVD that includes Images and Words: Live in Tokyo and 5 Years in a Livetime.
@Chespiron eso es por q ese album fue el mas comercial... de alli la cancion you not me.... tu no yo.... pero luego de ello llego metropolis pt 2.... lo mejor de dt!!!
Well, that's the name of the album, and the title track, and yeah it takes up the entire second disc or the double album. It's cut into 8 sections so that you can scroll through it easier, so you could either call it 8 songs, or 1 big song, which it is.
@tys519 I'm so sorry for you :( hope you will see them one day :) I saw them once last October, it was fantastic! :D I traveled for exactly 910 kilometers to go to the city they played (checked with google maps), by train, and then 910 km again to go back to my hometown.. which is a total of 1820 km to see them! Without including the street I had to walk in that city (Rome) :P .... Then I slept in a crappy bed & breakfast for a night... but it was all worth it! I would do it again :)
@Chespiron es uno de mis favoritos , solo q la gente no le presta mucha atencion, pero ese album es demasiado bueno, tiene canciones como hells kitchen, trial of tears, anna lee , peruvian skies, hollow years, lines in the sand y just let me breathe q son simplemete obras de arte
Seconded. Around this time he had pretty much destroyed his vocal chords from a food poisoning-related incident. His voice was in recovery for quite some time.
@mavrick817 I totally have floor tickets in edmonton so pumped! I agree though everyone hears like 3 seconds and then jugdes them, you cant truly appreciate the music unless you listen through a whole album.
@Kapuzina1337 This is entirely my opinion as a huge Dream Theater fan (of all their work), but my personal favorite is The Count of Tuscany off Black Clouds and Silver Linings. Some are critical of that album though, but it's all preference. I love nearly everything from the band.
@trongs01 i know what you mean. Its hard to explain, its like their new stuff gets old fast. The albums before 6 degrees still seem fresh and exciting. overall DT rocks, they are my fav band
Thank you James LaBrie.
James did a great job in this performance. Most people don't realize how hard it is to hit those higher notes and hold it like he does
I Love James from my Heart !Such a. Ice soul and voice.awesome musicians
Are you kidding? his voice sounds amazing here.
amazing!!
i loved labrie's voice, it soudns really nice.. I don't understand how some people cannot like it

Even in a laid back gig like this, Myung is still there with the biggest bass guitar in Holland.
The Sherinian and Moore period had a more melodic/art-rock kind of feel. Jordan lost this aspect of his playing and now relied on sheer technicality. Plus, the loss of MP made also another impact on the band's sound.
I agree, Rudess is too much technical robotic stuff
Their music has always made me feel good .. mostly at times of low ..
Thank God for u guys ..
Wish once in my life time i get to see them perform live ..
Thank you very much! I appreciate that a lot. After all, most people couldn't have talked again after food poisoning like that, but he can still sing magically.
This song is really wonderful.
What a masterpiece. So touching, so brilliant... so underrated. Long live Dream Theater!!!
I have always loved this song. It's so beautiful. It is so underrated.
Excelent song... amazing.
I wish I could have been there...I love this show !
Man, this song's so beautiful.
such a good example of how a ballad should be done...lovely
I like all that purple ambiance with the candles and lavalamps
I wish they did some shows like that again

anyone who has seen this band live is very lucky... ive yet to find a chance for them to tour close to home... its my dying wish to see them.

Labrie is perfect here. He doesn't mess up once.
What a great concert.
Wow, that's amazing. Can't believe I've never heard this band before.
Their most underrated song, by a mile.
A musica perfeita
and one of the most amazing balads they have
Amo este tema ^^
I started playing this and a friend asked if it was Elton John...such an amazing song.
wow. just wow. Labrie=super talented.
ive seen this band live 4 times and every single time its freaking amazing!! i feel bad for the people that cant appreciate their music nd only like to talk crap about them these guys are truly talented!! and they are my all time favorite band cant wait to see them with iron maiden this month!
These guys should write a/for a broadway show.
I agree with you Dream Theater was such a band for players as just for who likes good music..
the end of the chorus, when the says "anna lee", it reminds me a little of a lullaby
amazing love it love them dream theater the best i love you
@bluesruley2k I totally agree. I am not even a die-hard DT fan...but I LOVED this song the first time I heard it. So beautiful!
@KazeReload Thank you. I was going to see them with Iron Maiden but tickets were expensive and sold out in a day for the Toronto tour date. Ill see them one day... even if i have to travel as far as you did haha.
never seen a DT unplugged before...it is so nice...
beautiful, this truly is labries song...
Sherinian is an excellent keybord player. I saw him live with Malmsteen, many years ago. Portnoy is an excellent behind the drums, but not really behind the mic!.
wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooww!!!!!!! so great!

A man of culture here.
No Brasil, principalmente São Paulo, gostamos muito de Dream theater, tem varias pessoas com camisetas do Dream theater na rua!
One of my personal faves from DT =)

they should make an official video for this song..
@Chespiron eso es por q ese album fue el mas comercial... de alli la cancion you not me.... tu no yo.... pero luego de ello llego metropolis pt 2.... lo mejor de dt!!!
Petrucci Bravo Bravisimo
Oh I miss those days of Dream Theater.
I love this. It's my favorite DT ballad next to The Silent Man and The Spirit Carries On. :)
KKS
that's right, in fact, in Dream's defense, they don't say that is an unplugged concert. It is a mistake.
Well, that's the name of the album, and the title track, and yeah it takes up the entire second disc or the double album. It's cut into 8 sections so that you can scroll through it easier, so you could either call it 8 songs, or 1 big song, which it is.
grat song! I didnt know about this show! dt acoustic?? man! awesomE!
@tys519 I'm so sorry for you :( hope you will see them one day :) I saw them once last October, it was fantastic! :D I traveled for exactly 910 kilometers to go to the city they played (checked with google maps), by train, and then 910 km again to go back to my hometown.. which is a total of 1820 km to see them! the masterpiece.. welcome to indonesia DT !!
Apesar de ter um tema triste, amo essa música. Só sendo louco mesmo pra não gostar de DT.
@Metalpupett correction, they are the definition of perfection....
@Chespiron es uno de mis favoritos , solo q la gente no le presta mucha atencion, pero ese album es demasiado bueno, tiene canciones como hells kitchen, trial of tears, anna lee , peruvian skies, hollow years, lines in the sand y just let me breathe q son simplemete obras de arte

Awesome
Stacey cross good
This guy has awesome vocals =)
Check out a song by DT its called "the silent man" =)
Derek is playing in Billy Idol's band! :)
those jumbo pickups sounds divine. i wonder if they are also from Ibanez.
@mavrick817 I totally have floor tickets in edmonton so pumped! I agree though everyone hears like 3 seconds and then jugdes them, you cant truly appreciate the music unless you listen through a whole album.
@glwe0903 the candles :P it has like 3 or 4 song with acustic guitar, but more that an unplugged, is a concert with the less metal side of DT
Welcome to Indonesia!!!
@xDreamTheater92 Ops, sorry! I seen in the previous video (track 03 of this show). It seens to be a Fender.
aah great with green
@xDreamTheater92 That's an Ibanez JPM!
ManVestige is not Rudess, is Derek Sherinian, substitute of Kevin Moore....
No, it's from Falling Into Infinity.
Derek is playing keys in Billy Idol's band! :)
@tuttalpiumuoio86 thanks! they are so rare! im wanting to purchase one but cant seem to find a dealer in the UK
OMG!
"and now she' s NEEEEEEEERENNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEREEEEEEEEEENEEEEEEE, CAN'T KEEP ON REEEEEEEEEEEEENEEEEEEEENNEEEEEEEEREENNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
No, it's an Ibanez Talman, a 90's model, now it's out of production.
By the way, Noodles' signature Ibanez has a similar body.
Now that I look closer, they might be small sized humbuckers, but they still sound somewhat single coil-ish.
@Kapuzina1337 This is entirely my opinion as a huge Dream Theater fan (of all their work), but my personal favorite is The Count of Tuscany off Black Clouds and Silver Linings. Some are critical of that album though, but it's all preference. I love nearly everything from the band.
More than The Ones Who Help To Set The Sun
vamos DREAM ...!!!
melodical as always? i want to to hear you singing the stream of consciousness solo ;-)
@xDreamTheater92 I think he had a signature model (or two) with Ibanez before switching to Musicman's
@trongs01
i know what you mean. Its hard to explain, its like their new stuff gets old fast. The albums before 6 degrees still seem fresh and exciting. overall DT rocks, they are my fav band
this isn't unplugged xD
But it's heaven :)
