in this past week this song was to me nothing more than a great tune....now it gained meaning in my life...amazing how simple events can give you a fresh perspective in a song as powerful as this
dream theater write this style of music so well, makes you wonder why they dont bring out a whole album of similar material. I would love to see them write an album with 10,11 songs rather than the usual 7 or 8
pretty sure the smallest he ever used was the John Bonham vistalite kit to record a couple tracks on Octavarium. Only one rack tom, one floor tom, snare, hi hat, ride, crash, and tambourine.
DT's best "non-Prog" song (it's not a "ballad", and "Hollow Years" would get that title) and unfortunately something I highly doubt they'd be able to write currently... there are no 5-minute solo/unison/harmony runs in it. ;-)
If successful means "shitty mainstream" like DT`s last 5 albums then you are right...And don`t talk about Rudesses presence cause exactly it turned DT into an unlistenable volcano of what you called it "epicness"! ;)
@yurivarbanov but there's one huge difference... they did chroma key and that stuff because they dont have a succesful band like dream theater... so it was their necesity. jordan has very good solo albums. i know that derek and kevin are awesome musicians, im only saying that jordan has more precence and epicness that derek and kevin. i respect their solo works and i love Chroma key and OSI
Yeah, I know...but this live show from Rotterdam was recorded only for the official fan clubs like a "Christmas gift"...it's extremely exclusive! So...the live in Rotterdam DVD exists, but who owns it? :)
@ultimatezero00 He may be better technically than Derek and Kevin but as a musician he is millions of miles behind them! ;) Just compare Chroma Key and Derek`s solo works with Jordan`s and you`ll understand!
jajajaja you didnt see the video? right? speak to me of pink floyd does'not have that duracion... speak to me of Dream Theater it's a beutiful song that has not absolute match whit de pink floyds version...speak to me i'ts completly original from dream theater
Che tempi... Quanti ricordi... Il mio gruppo preferito nella mia formazione preferita
Che bella canzone...fortunato chi quella sera era presente ed ha potuto godersi la magia.
amazing song...the best band ever..dream theater
Damn the industry, this one and raise the knife turn out to be my favorites from the infinity sessions. Long Live DT, Now and Forever!!
95 to 20 were DT's golden years of production and creativity. not only with DT albums like LTE and other projects.
in this past week this song was to me nothing more than a great tune....now it gained meaning in my life...amazing how simple events can give you a fresh perspective in a song as powerful as this
that's when dream theater were good!
I really miss that guitar!
Just an awesome song...plain and simple.
very special song, great Band and vocals. the guitar is the best!!!!
I like to believe everybody has there own taste in music but some people can't appreciate good music.
God I love this song (greetings from Rotterdam, the Netherlands)
addition: and to think that they never played this song anywhere else makes this as special as it can be - unique!
dream theater write this style of music so well, makes you wonder why they dont bring out a whole album of similar material. I would love to see them write an album with 10,11 songs rather than the usual 7 or 8

Hell yes.
A Great SoNG!!
I love labrie's hair
In this gig you can see the smallest drum kit MP had in his entire carreer with DT!!
pretty sure the smallest he ever used was the John Bonham vistalite kit to record a couple tracks on Octavarium. Only one rack tom, one floor tom, snare, hi hat, ride, crash, and tambourine.
This song should have been included on Falling Into Infinity.
agreed, parts do sound very much like U2
labrie °o° ti adoro
DT's best "non-Prog" song (it's not a "ballad", and "Hollow Years" would get that title) and unfortunately something I highly doubt they'd be able to write currently... there are no 5-minute solo/unison/harmony runs in it. ;-)

i walk beside you is the best ballad

The only accoustic instrument here is the guitar XD
Anyway, great song
DT 4EVAH!
What about the drums?
Mike Portnoy = best DT drummer
This Song Is Great, if you observe you can see how John indicates Mike Portnoy(aka:My God) that he's hitting to hard @ 3:18
@TheGodofguitar17 Cleaning out the closet. It was release (exclusively i think) for the members of Dream Theater International Fan Club in 1999.
If successful means "shitty mainstream" like DT`s last 5 albums then you are right...And don`t talk about Rudesses presence cause exactly it turned DT into an unlistenable volcano of what you called it "epicness"! ;)
The Set-list ;)
Even Dream Theater listens to U2.
they're a big fan of U2. during these era, they even play songs like Discotheque from U2's POP album.

@MlKEPORNTOY Derek...not Dirk....
:| totally unexpected from DT, but good nonetheless. Very appropriate for today, uh?
I cant get this anywhere. Anyone got links?
I wouldn't call that a ballad. It's sounds more U2-ish to me.
bomd+
Donde puedo descargar este DVD?????
good question.
I know that exist an audio version of this show on the internet, but not the dvd
Leonardo Corona This song appears in Once in a Live TIme DVD and the original song was created for the "falling into infinity B side"

@ultimatezero00 He may be better technically than Derek and Kevin but as a musician he is millions of miles behind them! ;) Just compare Chroma Key and Derek`s solo works with Jordan`s and you`ll understand!
I don't understand what is unplugged here?? Electric guitar?? lol
jajajaja you didnt see the video? right? speak to me of pink floyd does'not have that duracion... speak to me of Dream Theater it's a beutiful song that has not absolute match whit de pink floyds version...speak to me i'ts completly original from dream theater
aguante dream thater
Stop being so close-minded. If you really like this song, you might digg some of U2 stuff and not just say that they are "gay".
@MIKEPORNTOY @danimal09752 Jordan Rudess > Derek Sherinian
@sarcol i disagree.. keane are great musicians. But only their first 2 albums.. the new stuff is poppy crap. I never liked u2 much
