    You could argue that Leap the Dips belongs on the list because of how different it is from modern coasters

    Chaos at Opryland USA was the same as Revolution except it had 3D effects. It was a blast when i was a kid.

    Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain at Indiana Beach. Elevator lift hill, clearances so small the mine train cars have roll cages covered with cargo netting. Sitting in the rear car facing backwards is insane -- it should be a separate coaster credit unto itself.

      I haven’t ridden Lost Coaster, but it’s been high on my bucket list for years because of how bizarre it is.

    Lisebergbanan is my first roller coaster, so I have a soft spot for it. But even with that, I think it's so much fun to ride it, so I'm really happy that this coaster made the list 😊
    It's also the only one I've ridden of this list, can't wait to try all the other ones!

    Probably the most unique coaster on my list in Rhombus Rocket at Fantasy Island a WGH Transportation Powered Coaster, some surprisingly good laterals for a 30 year old family coaster

    A ride that absolutely deserves to be on here is Bobsleds at Seabreeze in New York. A hybrid coaster built in house that opened in the 60s. It's one of one.

      I haven’t ridden it, but i’ve always thought Bobsleds looked very strange.

    Great video! I remember how much you laughed because of Revolution from your Vlog 2 years ago because its so odd and unique. That Switzerland coaster is really cool along with the sky ride there too. I think everyone that has the Volcano the Blast coaster credit should be happy they rode that.

  • @morganmcmahon3021
    @morganmcmahon3021 6 месяцев назад +2

    I wish Volcano was still rideable☹️ It looked so fun! Revolution looks incredibly unique, the train concept made me crack up and I like all the lights. All hail Tornado on BOOST Mode, always🌪🙌🏻😂Probably going with Flitzer again as my only Zierer credit while most of my others are either Intamin, B&M, or Vekoma

    I wonder if Like Steel Curtain S&S was forced to build Merlin’s Mayhem because Vekoma was too busy or Sansei blocked it and it’s only after Steel Curtain that the gate has reopened for larger coasters

    My most Unique credit is 2. I rode Broke Run Helix at the Mass Moca Museum, which was a blast, and the museum was really cool too! I also got a blackout ride on Boulder dash. The park only had the station lights on, and all other lights in the park off. That was excellent! I also got a night Ride on Roar-a-saurus, which is an even greater experience!

    I rode an illusion coaster before at the defunct theme park Opryland USA in Nashville, Tennessee called Chaos. I rode it in 1994 & 1995.
    Seeing that video of Revolution at Bobbejaanland brought back some happy memories!
    It was my least favorite coaster in the park but I loved them all. I rode Chaos multiple times both years we went and had a blast on it!! Very unique coaster!

    Approx between 6pm and 7pm EDT/EST May 29th 2022: I think I had a better experience on Sandy's Blasting Bronco than TMT Shellraiser because I didn't know NOT to ride TMT Shellraiser in the front, and I couldn't stay longer than the time it took to gain coaster credits (and one pendulum ride) to re ride any coaster, due to sleep deprivation after flying from Vancouver, getting delayed at Toronto for a Covid test, arriving late and and also still needing to bus to 2 hours to Freehold via Manhatten, then walk to my Hotel in West Freehold for half an hour before finding my bed for 5 nights for my 4 nights at SFGA N.J. Then Later I found out TMT Shellraiser is better in the back, which I usually prefer on a coaster as long as it's not a one car train. This is now making me ponder: is a one car train a train or a car? Also: Is whatever the answer is also true for regular non-coaster trains?
    BTW "Fliegende Hollander" translates to Flying Dutchman, named after a Wagner opera but not an old Vekoma Flyer also named after the same opera. (I give back by educating.) Thanks for posting!

    there was one other wooden shuttle coaster built in the early 1900s at Crystal Beach Amusement Park, but vit had a lot of issues

    • @timk987
      @timk987 6 месяцев назад

      Actually Switchback gets its name from the Switchback Railway which were wood shuttle coasters. Those led to the themed Scenic Railways which were (for the most part) also shuttle coasters.

    • @flashback0978
      @flashback0978 6 месяцев назад

      @@timk987 the switchback railways were not shuttle coasters they were a continuous circuit made up of two sections of track consisting of small gentle hills with a lifting mechanism at the end of each track that would bring the cars up to the top of the other track, it was one big loop in which the cars only traveled in one direction which would classify them as a full circuit coaster with 2 lift hills - the Crystal beach coaster was a scenic railway with an actual uphill "spike" that would cause the train to stall and roll back repeating the layout in reverse which makes it a shuttle coaster

    • @timk987
      @timk987 6 месяцев назад

      @@flashback0978 Hey thanks for mentioning the Crystal Beach coaster. I wasn't familiar with it and had a good time digging up info on that this past weekend. From what I understand the Crystal Beach coaster (Backety-Back Railway) didn't reverse layout, but dropped down to a separate track below the track that approached the spike. I'd say that's more like Dollywood"s FireChaser Express which most wouldn't consider a shuttle coaster. I didn't get a clear understanding to wether it hit a switch and returned to the station in the direction it left (like ZDT's) or if it returned in reverse like FireChaser Express.
      The original L A Thompson Switchback Railway was technically a full circuit with a switch on either end. However, riders got off one car and boarded a second car for the return trip. Meanwhile workers switched the empty cars making this portion more of a transfer track than part of the ride experience. The cars were nearly symmetrical with not much to distinguish front from back and the seats were just benches, so riders just faced forward while the car went backward. Here's a video link of one in operation: ruclips.net/video/ickW5CeVQgc/видео.html
      Keep an eye on the far side to get a feel for the operations. There is a splice in the film and I'm assuming that is to edit out the slow and boring portions of people making their way to, and then getting seated in the awaiting cart.
      I suppose it falls into one of those gray areas where opinions differ; like, are Intamin Freefalls coasters, or do you have to ride both sides of Kennywood's Racer to get the full credit.
      Anyway that's my take on it and thanks again to shining the light on the Backety-Back (Scenic) Railway.

    Would you consider Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland a particularly unique coaster? It's not the history but the fact that Arrow changed their trains, restraints, and track support system drastically afterwards in order to build subsequent coasters. While the tubular steel was kept, the actual track framework is quite different. And between that and the trains it feels like a very different ride than most other Arrows. It's just as janky but very different. Sometimes that's how it goes for a prototype.

    • @CoasterDash
      @CoasterDash  6 месяцев назад

      Absolutely! Arrow Dynamics only ever built 3 of that model (the others being Gemini at Cedar Point and Excalibur at Valleyfair)

    Nice except from the defunct one and the one in the enchanted forest i'm probable gonna have all of them in about 3 years. Well maybe not the one in tyssenfjyrd went there in in 2022 but its isn't that far from lisenberg so i might be able to sneak it in somewhere. Did the one in california last year hadn't planned it but i had day to spent and just decided to drive over. Im missing just one in sweden in a summerland park in sweden but you just might not have done that park.
