Yeah, the whole park needs some TLC. Everything needs a new coat of paint. They need to fix the path layout as it's a very long walk to get from Boomerang to Motocoaster, and they are literally right next to each other. I have such a strong fondness for the park, but it still needs a LOT of work. There is such potential for it, tho. It already has a campground, hotel, and an actual major concert venue attached, also has tons of land for more rides, and it's 20 minutes outside of a major city (Buffalo). They could easily make this park a much bigger deal than it currently is. Hopefully the merger sees the new Six Flags give it some much needed attention.
yeah, boomerang and moto used to be connected through the campsite which was a nice area too, around that area with the lake next to predator has so much room for expansion. the could probably put a nice flying coaster there or some.
People really don’t know how good predator is. I’m very happy and surprised to see how much you liked it! Usually people tell me that I only like it because it’s at my home park but I know that’s not true
The Predator is now one of the best non RMC’d Dinn’s left, but it earned its reputation for roughness, 900 feet of Titan track and a ton of money invested in stuff like stiffening the corners with guy wires have brought it back from being one of the roughest wooden coasters in the country. I know you guys focus on coasters but keep on eye on the flat rides at these parks, you can hit some pretty rare ones if you’re paying attention. For example there are less than 5 of the Corn Popper style ride from Darien Lake still operating
Great video on my home park. A little history: the reason the coasters only have 1 train each is because the previous owners gutted the second trains for parts rather than purchase new parts.
Marc, I love this series and I respect all of you for this coaster journey of 2024. You can definitely see a difference from the first one to this one. Thatis diligence and yall got my respect. Superman looks sweet. I am from Deeee-Troit so I love the art-deco on signage.
We went there 2 years ago after a trip to Seabreeze, and Niagra amusement park. Surprisingly good park. Beautiful area, Tantrum eas pretty good, Superman was excellent, the SLC was.... a SLC, BUT..... the absolute highlight of the day at Darien Lake was obviously Moose on the Loose.😂😂😂 You better have rode Moose on the Loose. Edit, also, Superman, or just Ride of Steel, was the original of the clones. Its a weird layout because it goes over the water. Thats why theres the straight track. I really enjoyed that coaster. Its probably easily in my top 25.
I've been going to Darien Lake for 35 years (I'm 40) and I rode the ride of steel a number of times. Then, at some point, they added a height restriction and I couldn't ride it anymore (I'm 6foot 7)
Great video, they actually did have plans to do a Superman/Super hero’s section of the park when they originally built it. Haven’t been this year but if you notice they took all the Superman theming off of the coaster and renamed it just ride of steel after Six flags sold the park the first time. They didn’t have the licenses for it anymore. A lot of things at Darian Lake had been returned during the first run six flags had there. Unfortunately as it was past from one owner to another all of the theming disappeared.
We went to the park a month ago and actually hadn’t heard of new titan track on Predator since last year. Our ride on it last year had us saying “this ride doesn’t have enough polygons” from how rough it was-if you thought Viper was rough and Predator was smooth, we really missed out this last trip!
From my experience in the back row, Viper was great and much better then ride of steel. The airtime on the drop was insane and the inversions were killer
Great video! Its good you got all those rides in in 3 hours. Yeah i think they need more speakers and more music! Looking forward to the SeaBreeze Vlog, as well as Carowinds, Dollywood and Beech Bend. Ive only seen 1 Vlog of Beech Bend before and would love to see what you think of it as its only 4 or 5 hours or so away from me!
Canada’s Wonderland has a boomerang roller coaster called The Bat! It’s basically the same thing as at six flags Darien lake! I should know, I went there as a kid and they are the same ride! I don’t know who came up with it first whether Canada’s Wonderland stole the design or if six flags came up with that design first! I rode them both! Same coaster different colour!🎢🥰👍🏻🫶🏻
This is an awesome review. I live nearby in Buffalo, NY and practically grew up at this park. $60 season passes and the light shows at night made for fun times growing up... Making friends, first crushes, and campsites there. It really deserves some TLC, though. The ownership changes, lockdowns, and general feel of the park made it worse in recent years, imo. (The Viper has always been my most hated ride because my ears would always hurt after my head was slammed around in the seats lol). Now I just go there for concerts... I hope that changes.
Really enjoyed watching you review my home park (and looking forward to my other park Seabreeze too!) I 100% agree with all of your assessments of the rides. That Ride of Steel line is brutal x.x The biggest improvement they could make there is to get a second train, itd help for Predator too. Next time you're there you should try out the corn Popper flat ride! Its more fun than you'd think just by how it looks.
My home park 😂 has potential tho ngl. They just need to take out all old blacktop and replace with concrete. More planters on the pathways, greenery on the grass and more lanterns too. The little things like that can make this park look incredible fr. Also needa trim them weeds around the lake 😭😭 and in terms of rides a raptor where grizzly run was is a perfect addition. And a thrill launch coaster or wing coaster could help the line up
I remember as a kid in the 80's and teen in the 90's that The Viper was the big coaster till Predator came. The Viper and Predator we both so so rough back in the day. Mainly The Viper just boxed your head back and forth.
I’m glad they retracted the predator! Was always a great coaster but never got maintained and was really really bad. Makes me sad the way the Viper is these days. It was the first inverted coaster I ever went on in 2000. I added all those trim breaks in after it started getting rough and obviously it has ruined a lot of the excitement. I remember flying through the cork screws and helix. 😢 makes me sad. Hopefully it gets a refab it deserves. 1 side note, if you see the building next to the viper, way back there was actually an Indoor Coaster that I believe was called Nightmare inside of that building.
Yep i remember when my sister her dad and i got on the predator. the black train got half way up the hill and stopped then it started smoking. This had to be bk in 2000 or 2001 when we went. They also had a black train and a orange one.
Haven't been in a while, but always a good time! Been going here since i were a little kid. about 45 minutes from Buffalo. I need to try the new roller coasters :D
I remember predator was unbearable back in the day. Destroyed my back everytime. It was actually kind of remarkable. DL could have claimed "worlds roughest coaster" for marketing lol
I remember when they had the red train and the black train on there, those trains were also trailored compared to the articulate ones they have on there now, and would jackhammer and shuffle through the course, it was awful. I always said that the exit of the ride should have a chiropractor on duty (in reference of the old Crystal Beach Cyclone nurse at the exit) lol. I believe the train they have on there now is new this year and they retired the old Holiday World's Voyage trains.
The layout is so weird because COVID.🙄 Precovid, the campground included admission. Since then, the campground is separate, so they had to make security gates. You used to be able to walk around and entered Moto up in the campground.
@@CoasterDash yes! You can rent various cabins and rv’s, along with pull through sits and tent/glamping sites. Also a decent hotel with a pool. There is also an amazing laser light show with pyrotechnics, water holographics and fireworks. Definitely come back in a few years once they give some more tlc and spend some time walking around! You didn't ask how to get from the boomerang to motocoaster. There is an exit on the back side of the park you go out and walk to the entrance by motocoaster. Also if you think the Viper is bad, you should never ride the steamin demon at Great Escape... also you missed out if you didn't ride the corn popper. I don't think there is another one like it in the world...
They can’t add DC or other IPs because they don’t own the park, they lease it. Same reason La Ronde has no IPs. I wouldn’t be shocked to see the new Six Flags sell this property or strip it down and close it.
I hope to plan some future coaster road trips so I gotta ask, how much did this trip cost you? I’m doing a trip to Kings Island and Cedar Point in August which is about a 9hr drive for me and it’s costing around $900. How do u manage to save money?
Hi there! That sounds expensive for a trip to just two parks, but not everyone is as fortunate as to budget like we do. We’re young, so we’re willing to make sacrifices that other people might not be able to. I usually just spend as I go, excluding hotels, but to give an approximate breakdown: my flights are free because I pay $400 a year for the Frontier Airlines GoWild Pass hotels came out to roughly $460 a person for a little over 2 weeks (split between 3 people) we only had to fill up the gas tank on our car like 6 times, so I don’t think it was more than $150 a person (also split between 3 people) I don’t budget for food, since we have to eat at home anyway, but to give a rough estimate, I tend to have one big meal before and after park hours. I take advantage of free hotel breakfasts as much as possible, so taking that into account, let’s say I spend ≈$500 across a trip this long for park tickets, we already have passes for six flags and cedar fair, plus i’m fortunate to have this platform that enables me to receive complimentary admission tickets in exchange for my vlog content. only parks we had to pay for we’re holiday world for the event ($140), indiana beach ($45), and waldameer ($40) add everything up and you end up with a total of around $1300 a person. well worth it for a more than 2 week roadtrip imo
@@CoasterDash man thank you for sharing all that. I’ll definitely taking all that into account and I do have a Cedar Fair pass so I won’t necessarily be paying for tickets for CP of KI on my trip. Also I’m going on this trip as a group of 4 and I’m including the Cedar Fair pass in that budget. I’m also working in a fast lane for CP so that’s prolly adding a lot of money as well. I have some ideas for other larger road trips like an east coast or Midwest trip in future years so again, thank you for sharing this. I’d love to see you make a video about planning a coaster road trip but this was definitely helpful
Having grown up in the 80's in southern Ontario, I often saw the commercials for Darien Lake. Of course, having a kid's mentality, I automatically thought it was inferior to MY Canada's Wonderland. I never actually visited the park, so I thank you for this video. I'm feeling that my "kid mentality" back then is somewhat vindicated, as DL really seems a bit like a knock-off CW, with a few "bigger versions" of similar coasters. The black-top looks so weird, and it's probably killer on really hot days.
You brave soul. Always bring your chiropractor along with you when you visit Darien Lake. You will need it after you get done. Predator is horrific and Mind Eraser definitely erases your mind and spine.
@CoasterDash that's great news, the titan track has made a huge difference then, my home park is Great Adventure, but my girlfriend lives 1 hour from Darien Lake. We go as much as we can. It could be a gem for six flags with the camp ground. It needs some TLC and new rides and it be a great park.
Always remember 6 flags America is a park for people who dont really go to amusement parks the people who live in the dc Maryland Virginia area (like myself) prioritize kings dominion and hershey park over 6 flags America we got to 6 flags when we want cheap fun

Superman and 2 trains, predator use to beat the hell out of ya
Viper and Mind Eraser are my favorite there. Superman is good and you only ride the predator if you want back and neck problems
You brave soul. Always bring your chiropractor along with you when you visit Darien Lake. You will need it after you get done. Predator is horrific and Mind Eraser definitely erases your mind and spine.
Hahah! As it turns out, not too many rides here gave us a hard time. It was mainly Viper that was very rough. Predator was smooth and great!
I work here as a lifeguard!
Six Flags only manages Darien Lake. They don’t own the park.
Always remember 6 flags America is a park for people who dont really go to amusement parks the people who live in the dc Maryland Virginia area (like myself) prioritize kings dominion and hershey park over 6 flags America we got to 6 flags when we want cheap fun

Darien lake is definitely pretty underwhelming
I can see how it could be on a crowded day 😅
