This had to have been one of the dumbest rumors every, this is a big draw and the main attraction at Darien Lake. It also (from what I heard) is a pretty reliable coaster so this makes no sense.
@Arrow Dynamics Inc. This is a reliable coaster. There is not type of advanced ride system on this thing to really hold it back.
Meh. It could be argued that Darien Lake has no "pretty reliable" rides - and of its coasters I'd have to rank it at the bottom. At least (empirically) based on the times I've happened to visit, it's been the one most likely be be down all day or experience some sort of short-term (say on the order of magnitude of an hour) closure. It was also late to open in 2021 due to inspection issues.
@Arrow Dynamics Inc. Yeah, you're right. I think I've only seen it gone down once or twice. Much more reliable than the two frankencoasters (RoS and Mind Eraser).
I'm not so sure that's a good thing though, when your 40 year old eldest coaster is your most reliable.
The clone of this ride is at my home park and I’ll be working there this year, I’ve been visiting for 12 years and this ride never has downtime it’s extremely reliable especially comparing to the other rides from intamin like ka or volcano
@@sabretooth1997 I know this is late, but generally the park has pretty good reliability (I'm a local and there all the time). Shipwreck Falls and the other water attractions are generally the most unreliable because of old and shoddy pipe work in the park. Mind Eraser is the worst of the coasters, followed by Predator (tracking issues seem to be the main cause as it just gets older and older, we really need it RMC'd or to get full Titan Track). Ride of Steel almost never sees downtime, same with Viper, MotoCoaster, and the Boomerang.
Darien Lake is sooo close to being a significant destination spot for more people to visit.
-Put in a new flat ride in the place of the ugly skeleton of the Giant Wheel (like a Zamperla Nebulaz)
-Get Predator fully retracked (or RMC'd)
-Update/add the restraints/trains for Mind Eraser (a la Riddler Revenge at SFNE)
-Potentially add one more mid sized coaster that's good with the GP like a Premier Rides launch coaster that doesn't take up too much space, that could go a long way.
-Second train for Ride of Steel
-Second train for Viper
It's a solid park and has just a few (albeit expensive) tweaks away from being a destination area for more enthusiasts and even employees to travel to and check out. We need a coaster enthusiast to win the lottery and throw a bunch of money at this park and help the whole Buffalo/Batavia/Darien area out.
well damn, they ended up doing three out of those five
the viper doesn’t run a second train more for wear and tear purposes from what I’ve been told. the coaster is already 41 years old
I never understood this rumor. Why would a park remove their signature ride? I'm not even sure how this rumor started, and it just made no sense to me.
Coaster Studios: Ride of Steel at Darien Lake might be leaving the park.
ElToroRyan: Nah. That’s cap. 🧢
When I started hearing about this a couple days ago, my first thought was that it was the least plausible coaster rumor I've heard in years. If it were true, I'd assume it's because the park was planning to sell itself off to land developers (which would suck), but that wouldn't make sense for a park retracking one coaster and perhaps getting a new train(s) for another.
It's obviously some random person who started this rumor in the first place. This coaster will never be removed because it's Six Flags Darien Lake's star attraction. It will stay for more years to come.
Screamscape has lost the small amount of credibility it had to me
It was a ride-op who started it
The person who started this posted to r/rollercoasterjerk about how he did it.
What a weird rumor that was! Made less sense than Knott's getting a giga next to a housing tract.
The amount of times the rumour that Canadas Wonderland would be moving to a bigger property is always my favourite in Ontario, first it was to the land that Marine Land Occupied and then somewhere between Toronto and London to keep the Toronto crowd....I've heard both of those a ton over the years
Would be nice but I can’t even begin to imagine how much money not to mention time it would take to take an entire park down and move it.
Not to mention a couple years ago Canada's Wonderland sold some land to the north
Yay, it’s staying! I even made a video about it, got a lil upset even making the vid, but I’m happy to see it stay
0:06 literally thought you were bouta dive head 1st into block sections bro
5:23 after all, it was just rumours, and for some reason ppl already treat them like something confirmed by the park... Really like Screamscape and glad that RoS is here to stay! Looks like a good hyper coaster
This is the silliest thing I've ever heard. I use to go here with my family back in the early 2000s. I was actually in the park when the whole east coast had that huge blackout. As for removing this ride it sounds like a bad business move and no way they do it
The fade out on a block zone... 😳😳😳
But that's great news. Last time I was there, I was 3 trains from getting on the ride from a T storm closed it for the rest of the day... then i moved out of NY. I really wanna give it a try!
I remember every time I rode Mind eraser the spirals would send your head back and forth smashing on the restraints. Definitely a bell ringer lol!
Thank goodness. Without this coaster, I can't imagine the park having anything to draw in guests.
Mind Eraser is said to be down for all of 2022. That’s the coaster that is the most likely to be removed if maintenance costs get too high. SROS is too big of a draw to remove, but many coasters could be SBNO for one season if repair and labor costs are too high to justify operating it.
That Rollercoaster was scary as a kid because I felt like I was going to slip out. 😅

Well, that proves that not all rumors are true. I was there last week, and Mind Eraser was open. I went on it. It wasn't exactly enjoyable, but... hey, it was open. All roller coasters were open when I was there last week. But MotoCoaster broke down when I got to the front of the line. 😂
Thankfully, it opened back up a couple hours later and I went on it.
As for Predator, it operated for most of the day, but broke down later on.
Thank you for this vid! I knew these claims were BS from the start. Ride of Steel is probably one of the easiest coasters out there to maintain, and I imagine the only part of the ride that really is showing age may just by the ride system. I know Ride of Steel at SFA’s ride system display sometimes has issues - but these are still easy things to rebuild if absolutely needed. SFA ride of steel still operates with the two original 20+ year old trains. I don’t see these rides coming down ANY time soon, and am curious how these rumors even started in the first place.
Gosh I’m so thankful for Screamscape! Been following Lance for a minute!!
At worst it goes SBNO for a season or two until the economy rebounds. I don’t see them removing it.
But still, the fact that the Giant wheel (an icon of the park) and Grizzly run is being removed still stings.
I didn’t even need to listen to this because El Toro Ryan single handedly saved Ride of Steel. You’re welcome.
The only circumstance under which I could see Ride of Steel being removed were if Six Flags wanted to get rid of Darien Lake but keep the ride for use at another park. Outside of that one specific scenario, the idea of retiring a mega coaster is pretty laughable.
I was figuring it was just a crazy rumor
Same. It was a really unbelievable rumor because if Hersheypark removed Storm Runner, they would lose attendance and profit.
@@ethanhcomposer so true
What??? You mean the rumor that goes around every year that darien lake is gonna get rid of their biggest rollercoaster was false this year?? Crazy
Warner Bros. Movie World has a Superman Great escape coaster, which was also built by Intamin as well that looks almost identitical!
Ride of Steel is a seriously underrated coaster and absolutely slaps in the back seat, I do think it should be rethemed to Superman since it is a Six Flags park again and it makes the most sense
There’s no reason for them to pay the licensing because no one ever stopped calling it the Superman haha
Love screamscape, were you ever on the coaster-net forums? btw i met you guys the other day at SFMM, i was the guy in line for full throttle with a "vintage" Goliath hat.
Honestly, Darien Lake would be better off without Mind Eraser, because let’s be honest, Vekoma SLC’s are not only painful (especially for your legs), they also have the same, boring, unoriginal layout (the only exception being Odyssey at Fantasy Island in Great Britain).
If anything the park should get a B&M Invert once it’s out of the red.
2nd upload?! Woah! Hey Ryan, will you be at Palindrome’s opening? (COTAland, obviously haha)
Glad to hear the good news!
Still plan on getting out there to ride it
Hoping that new trains find their way here soon. Would be a smarter financial decision than removing the whole damn thing.
Well there goes my extra push to finally make it there this year lol good news though! Glad to hear it’s not going anywhere
Have you seen the weird rumors about the park expanding? I want to say those were early January and somebody dug up property records showing EPR owns the lot across the street from the entrance. First the Darien Lake people say it's expanding, then shrinking or closing with all the big attractions leaving. I think DL is just a hot bed of bad rumors and you probably can't trust any of them right now.
5:50 someone check with Darien Lake's maintenance crew if they found themselves having an extra spare bolt after the last inspection
0:08 NOOOOOOOOO!
This ride has been saved!
trolling on TPR like that is so funny to me lol
Thank god
The Superman was my first ever coaster and let me tell you it’s fast
Six flags isn't exactly a company that's known for safety, or keeping their equipment up.
I’m very happy to hear this rumor has been laid to rest. Also, to your point about Goliath at SFNE… I truly believe if going back to the original train was an option, the park would have done so in 2014. The original train was much better and made Goliath top 3 in the park. It’s such a shame what happened to the ride with the new train that was intended to improve the experience instead drastically changed it for the worse. :(
It’s also from my understanding - the original train was scrapped, which was a terrible move by the park, should have kept it just in case the premier train ended up being trash, and it did.
El toro with the calm down video! Hahahahaha
Two videos in one day! Cheers fellow!
I knew they wouldn't remove it, it just doesn't make sense for the star attraction in a park that's hurting to be renowned like this. I wouldn't be surprised if it closed for a while but not removed completely.
Huh I didn’t know Ryan use to be part of TPR
thank god he escaped
Cmon that was the stupidest rumour ever. Who would remove their star attraction unless you were having major maintenance or financial issues with the coaster.
Well I guess this is good for Darien Lake in a way, all Enthusiasts or just fans of it are gonna race up to that park not knowing who to believe 😂😂. I live in NY but it’s just over 5 hours of me and have never been. I might just have to drive there in May so I can say I experienced it. And get the credits 😎
Both DL and SFNE should dump their SLCs and put in launch coasters. Those rides weren’t even good back when they came out, nevermind 20+ years later
P.S. I'd accept an Intamin Blitz 😁
screamscape also reported that WOF could be getting a new major ride for 2023 but knowing cedar fair, that wont happen.
hey this is just good media for Darian lake!!!
The proper and professional thing to do is for those who perpetuated the rumor without first verifying it (given many claim to have industry connections) is to publish a full retraction. Jumping at a rumor for the sole purpose of clicks and ad revenue, but then stayinf quiet when it's debunked diminishes their integrity/reputation in my book and I just can't respect that.
God i didnt think there was any way they would but if they did darien lake is already in a sorry AF state due to the corona virus i had a season pass this last year and only went 2-3 times due to how poor of a condition it was run in this year... hopefully it gets better next year but im not gunna buy a season pass.
I say removing ride of steel is like Carowinds removing Fury 325
Mind eraser is already sbno, i’ve never seen it operating in the past five years
How much are the trains?
And in other news, Kennywood is going to get rid of Phantom’s Revenge.
IF YOU NEED SOME MORE IDEAS FOR PROBLEMATIC ROLLER COASTERS, I HAVE A FEW FOR YOU + I'D REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF YOU WOULD DO THEM ASAP!
SAND BLASTER.
VOLCANO THE BLAST COASTER.
THE SHOCKWAVE MEGALOOPER.
VIPER.
HYPERSONIC XLC.
STINGER.
BUT ESPECIALLY DRACHEN FIRE!
Six Flags bought a train for Irat so maybe they’ll spend some money on ROS
The information was flawed
I knew from the very beginning this wasn't true since six flags mostly runs the park lol.
Six flags puts in the new rides anyways.
Also I'm pretty sure they can run mind eraser. Just staffing would close it
I can confirm that Mind Eraser's trains are trash. Hopefully new trains make it less of a jackhammer in my ears ride.
Every video is always a banger. Wish Aussie theme park videos were available but covids a bastard.
Screamscape is not the best source of actual news. they have like a 20% right to 80% wrong track record
Were you a TPR team member, or just someone random who posted there?
Boomerang needs new track and cart it WAY to bumpy Goin backwards
No, don't delete my credit count....no!!!!!
Jk I'm subbed
wouldn't it be funny if there's a major drama in the coaster yt community because of a rumor like this?
If six flags removed it that would be the end of the park
thanks god its staying
Even if Darien Lake is being sold off and Ride of Steel is being relocated, I don't know who would get it. Six Flags St Louis is too hilly for Ride of Steel's long straightaways, Discovery Kingdom has a height restriction, and Frontier City is too small. Maybe Great Escape would get it, but really? And scrapping a park's star attraction but keeping a bad one with a known reputation is a terrible idea too.
Gang bang 🔫
Damn, two videos in one day! Yeah, this was the dumbest rumor, wtf
As a former ride operator at SFDL, and as someone who spent a lot of time operating Mind Eraser, the park would be much better off without it. It's a hike to get to and not really worth it IMHO. I'd love to see something else go there, and not another Vekoma stock design. As it stands SFDL has two and neither one is worth it.
@_DJ_Gengar_ Boomerang
Finally some common sense. Coaster idiots to the rescue!!!
YAY!!!11!1
Wait what??? They false videos were for nothing?? Do they even have the old vekoma trains haha?
Mine Eraser needs to be removed and something new needs to replace it. It is not fun to ride.
If hey close Ride if Steel, then that means they are closing the park
No shit lol. Did anyone actually believe this?
AND KNOTTS IS GETTING A GIGA.
LMAO.
GET A LIFE PPL.
this was all bs
