In RS3, it's revealed that after he established the Edicts, Guthix didn't just go to sleep, but began meditating to carefully maintain the balance of the energies required to keep the barriers intact. That's why when he was killed, the barriers fell and the gods were free to return. I like that part of the mythology because it adds to his whole "god of balance" thing, as he spent two eras in a meditative state, actively maintaining a balance on a cosmic scale.
I'm really excited to see the direction the OSRS guys go with the major storylines, and sincerely hope Guthix lives this time around. As fun as the return of the gods and Sliske's wild ride was, it also came with its share of mistakes and letdowns. It is better, in my opinion, that these divine powers stay as legendary figures of the distant past, and we keep our mortal player's focus on the Mahjarrat, Vampyres, pests, trolls, kalphites, whatever the heck the white/temple knights did with their king, what's going on in the desert... There's really no end to cool things to focus on.
Fun fact the leader of the temple knights is a Cithothian demon loyal to zaros playing undercover and as a leader of a coup of half the white/temple knights that are loyal to Zaros and not Saradomin, i believe he is similar to Duke Succulas
This lore makes me even more excited for the OSRS version of While Guthix Sleeps quest expected to be released as the last update of Summer 2024 on the Winter Summit roadmap

I'm disappointed at the RS3 team, especially with all the money they're raking in with all their key promos and MTX they have compared to OSRS which doesn't have any and has a proper full 6-month roadmap. I'm hoping things change drastically once the 4th buyout in a decade happens and CVC finalizes the deal and they're not just after squeezing us dry while not prioritizing good content

I was doing grand tree, I believe it was and there's a part where you need to find three gnomes for coordinates. The first two you find easy enough but the third when found starts babbling incoherently and speaking irrationally to which your character examines as "the war had taken it's toll on the poor gnomes mind" and you need to go find an alternate way of obtaining the last coordinates.
