    Nice video. Very familiar with that area. Lived in Dover for several years and was a volunteer EMT there. Started my volunteer career in Baltimore County back in 1967. During my USAF career, volunteered at local companies where I could. Was a volunteer here in North Carolina until i "retired" from the VFD in 1988. Miss my time putting the wet stuff on the red stuff.

    Not a criticism just an observation. Here in the UK we have great difficulty finding retained firefighters (paid volunteers) in areas that don't justify whole time crews. So I can I appreciate the problem is so much greater in rural America. Many of the volunteers in this video were clearly out of shape and others well into retirement age but they give up their time and should be applauded. The nit pickers who are sniping about the excessive use of sirens should get off their arses and do their bit for the community.

    Does it not destroy the Q by peaking it out so long. When I talked to Factory one time. About what size fuses. For hook up on tender I was doing. They told me it hurts them. They wear out just hammering them. I'm sure the fields stayed put though. Dogs on these farms must have been howling

    okay, it’s nice that we see the equipment and crews responding to this fire, and that most delaware drivers respond correctly to emergency vehicles.
    what i fail to understand is why delmar, which has less than half the population of laurel, would be requested to assist.
    regardless, what was the outcome? was the building saved?

    • @SpeedbirdFF
      @SpeedbirdFF  2 года назад

    unfortunately they are trying to avoid the kids playing in the cornfields one sunny Saturday afternoon that have popped out of seemingly nowhere and afterwards one kid saying they ran to see what kind of truck it was but unfortunately the other child dies, the family and the driver are devastated for life and both question why there had been no siren. But all the naysayers will never really understand that, sort of like our police department speeding to a call at 0330 but their thinking was that no one else is awake, why bother with the siren ... and at the same time a fire engine from the next county over returning from a mutual aid call and is now responding through our territory but once again, why bother making the "needless noise" when no one is up at 0330 and a good police officer never goes home, the fire engine driver has a head injury and doesn't remember who had the green light the officer isnt alive to say the color of the light but another firefighter yelled "traffic" as they go through the intersection and YOU get to be first on scene and yet another person is tormented and stopped running calls more than 21 years ago. Shall I go on? Heck, how many times do we see cars not stopping at the red stop bar on the road and it delays the response time ,during these initial responses and then listen to those outraged in the community.

      Absolutely supposed to do that, it's just the overflow to prevent pressure building in the tank. When pumpers are very full, sometimes they'll splash water out of the overflow on turns or sudden stop/starts.

    Dear Y'all..... Or, Hey armchairs. Three things to ponder on. 1. you don't know what animals may be in the fields and run in front of a rig. That could lead to a disastrous emergency maneuver. 2. Local law may require the use of sirens when the light bar is on. 3. the first part of hearing to go is the high end, meaning the higher pitches of the siren may not be heard. So cycling through all of the tone range is essential to reaching as many ears as possible.

      Really??? Then if someone gets rammed on the way or knocked down then they file lawsuits. Come one it's an emergency and sirens are made to get your attention and be loud. Look at the crap In New York watch FDNY they are like trains barreling down blasting the air horn and Q and still no one yields and that's because the city wants to use European sirens hi-lo. Those poor mount Sinai hospital ambulance use it and no one moves!! There a lot of entitled morons driving. Hope the day your in trouble they don't make "noise" and take their time to respond to you. And don't complain they took long.

    Yeah they sure like that horn don't they like you say people there's nothing on both sides but farmland but maybe I wanted two vehicles you know it's just like these trains that go through your towns they blown all the way through town why you're supposed to do it when they come into intersection so there's intersections all the way through town I mean every foot there's going to be an intersection for these damn trains okay another thing about fires there's two trucks that should be on site first the water truck I mean a water tanker truck with a hose like the fire department at airport that's what every fire department on this planet needs so there's two trucks that need to be at a fire first that's the water tanker truck and the ladder truck with hoses on it have you ever seen how long it takes them to put one of them ladder trucks in the use they got to come up with a better solution if they can get it there first by the time the fire department actually gets there that ladder truck should be already up and spraying water on it and another thing has anyone ever looked at these hoses and these trucks where the connections are here and the United States I want you people to look at the connections where they hook into the truck and where they hook into the fire hydrant and the connections where they hooked into each hose they sure keep these trucks so spotless but what about all the connections how about underneath the bus or underneath the fire truck how well shape is it there that's my opinion everybody needs to check it out your life's in danger if these people can't drive these nice beautiful red fire trucks you know the color of the trucks and all the Chrome is it going to save somebody's life and another thing about why they run their sirens so much it's more like to tell the people that are at the fire all we're on our way that's why they do it I don't got nothing against the fire department they do a damn good job and thank you for your service but there's a lot of things you need to maintain and fix on them every vehicle

      Hey Mr I know everything . Unless your actually on the job , you don't know squat. You obviously have no idea what goes on at a fire scene , what apparatus goes where and what's coming . Be it a sister station or mutual aid. SOP's on how to respond and what warning devices are to be on . I really can't stand a keyboard expert
