      My thoughts exactly. One hose spraying the wet stuff on the orange stuff. I always thought fires biggest enemy was water but in this case its biggest friend appears to be the lack of a coordinated attack

    3 aerials extended, fire through the roof, and they're using 2 handlines. Unless they were interior, which it looked they weren't, utilize the ladders and put water on it from above. Some full-time departments are something else 🤦🏻‍♂️

    How unfortunate for the residents. Big apartment buildings are nothing but fire traps. Builders have legally gotten away with not installing fire walls between units. If one unit burns, they all burn.

    This department is a bunch of clowns. Needs to be Thoughly retrained! I live here n it was a disgrace! The insurance company should watch this video n hold the fire department half responsible for the damages. They let this happen. Could have been half the loss that it was. Not only did 8 apartments get burned to the ground but the rest of building has water damage n electric was cut. Nobody can live there. Thank you neptune n Hamilton fire. Totally at fault for this. Kids patting themselves on the back for the great job they did! What a joke. Hopefully they get sued. Fire all of them.

      @@johndeere8594 2 years ago, the apartment building I lived in, burned. It was built in 1966, so, no fire walls were required to be in the construction. The fire laws at that time, were not what they are now. By the time the first fire truck showed up to the building I lived in, flames were visible from the roof. The fire started in a unit on the 3rd floor, and with no fire walls, there was no stopping the progression of the fire. 30 fire companies responded, took 13 hours to put the fire out. The building was a total loss, and 150 people were left homeless as a result. 45 unit apartment building.

    1-wind driven fire
    2-it got a hold of the attic
    3-GPM has to overpower BTU
    The crews were handed a stinker from jump street. I agree with at least attempting a trench cut. People were moving with a purpose and at a certain point there’s not enough fuel and the GPMs outweigh the BTUs. That’s how these fires go. You have a 50/50 shot when you get there. It’s either going to go well, or it’s not. Those are facts.

    • @Summerguy24
      @Summerguy24 Год назад +6

      GPM over BTU huh? So then why was Glendola's ladder in position taking up space without flowing water until late? If you're going to set up a ladder truck at an area of intense fire, better be prepared to open up that waterway.

    • @captain4508

      @@Summerguy24 valid question however I wasn’t the IC on that job. That would be a tactical question. My educated guess is that the first assignment was a trench cut. Having lived in a small NJ town for 40 years, there is an unfortunate reality that these departments are mostly volunteer and always underfunded. Some areas have converted to county wide departments and that has paid off. There isn't usually a specific person to blame - except maybe the US congress. There is absolutely NO REASON to be on that roof but there is a very important reason to be putting water on the Visible Burning Material.
