Kurt mentions photographer Glen Friedman several times in this clip. For those that don’t know, Friedman took amazing photos of the early Southern California skate scene, punk/ hardcore bands, & early rap groups. He also produced Suicidal Tendencies’ first LP. If you can find them I highly recommend Friedman’s two coffee table books “Fuck You Heroes” and “Fuck You Too”. You won’t be disappointed. He always had an ear to the street and caught priceless moments in Rebel culture with his camera.
This video is FIRE!! Thank you!! 😙 I was lucky enough to be snuck into the sold out Hello Nasty concert in Seattle by Cey Adams (their graphic designer and extended BB fam) at the time as a teenager! I didnt have the money for a ticket but he saw me hanging outside the venue all day to try and get one. At the end of day, before the show he took pity on me and gave me a backstage pass to sneak me into the venue and into some empty seats. So cool of him! Ill Never forget!! THANKS again Cey ♡
I won an autograph skateboard of the Beastie Boys!!! Through the 5 boroughs tour!!! After MCA passed, I sold the board for $1,400. I mailed it from Philadelphia to Australia!!! It was one of 50 or 500. Beasties owned the first 3.
@@80sLife The Check your Head photo location, I wonder how that sidewalk slab got lifted that high with no (apparently anyway) trees around. Odd thing.
@@sole__doubt It's most unfortunate that the state government has taken all the teeth out of criminal penalties, and more unfortunate yet that we don't stop voting for soft on crime politicians. There's no need to be in fear for our safety if we'd just put dangerous people in prison and keep them there.
Beastie Boys are my favorite group of all time. Hit me very hard when MCA passed away as well. It seemed surreal. Some people are are bigger then life, and to me, these guys were so it took me a while to wrap my head around the fact that he actually died. "Pass the Mic" was one of my favorite songs, so a while back I investigated where it was shot and was shocked to find out it was LA, because it never seems to rain in LA and that video is very rainy and MCA is wearing those big boots. Anyway, I google mapped it and found that exact shot of the studio you were at. So cool. Great job and thanks for posting.
So Awesome to See! Hey Ladies 💋💄 Is my Favorite Beastie Boys song and Video! 🎶She got a gold tooth 🦷 you know she's hardcore She'll show you a good time then she'll show you the door😉
Love seeing these sunny LA locations (especially as its so grey here in UK)with my favourites the B Boyz, thanks for taking the time to make this. Awesome!
I really appreciate all the hard work you put into this video. Hard to believe it's been almost 30 years since this video was released. Don't mean to sound cliche but it feels like yesterday. The Beastie's Sabotage clothes were my go-to Halloween costume for many years. Most people my age would usually figure out who I was dressed like.
I really appreciate the effort and time you spent to make this(these) videos. One of my favorite things to do on a day off since the 80s was going to film locations. I was thought "Sabotage" was one to the great music videos of all time.
Met MCA twice back in 2004. He lived right by my school near Canal and Broadway. Super cool guy. Still have my vhs tapes as well. they appeared in an MTV sports episode also. MCA had a mini I think.
Thanks for this video! I have a lot in common with the BEASTIE BOYS, we're all the same age, from NYC, moved to LA, and share a lot of the same things in interest in terms of our generation growing up in the 1970s thru the 1990s. They also toured with my frat bruthas FISHBONE as well. And of course, I'm down with their music! This video brought back so many memories of growing up in Los Angeles during the 1980s and 1990s. It was a great time to be young and experience life!
Pass the Mic video was my favorite after all this time I kept thinking 🤔 where in New York did they film that song wow of all places here in my hood The West Side Cali love them a lot Mike D. Was my favorite also R.I.P. brother much love for the East Coast Beastie Boys……..😎
Great work! We used to eat at Netty’s with the boys. Also, Hey Ladies interior disco shots were filmed in a Culver City night club. I’m in the video 🤓✌🏽
What an awesome video!! Thank you so much for making this!! I Got into the beastie boys just after sabatoge was released, and got to watch them in Toronto (MLG) in '94. Sadly it was their only concert I went to. Ill communication is still my fave!!
Pat me on the back, I saw Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Fat Boys live at Cow Palace in San Fran in the 80's. St. Paul is an underappreciated album. Much gratitude man.
Another great video! Where on earth do you find the level of detail you do on where all of these locations are? Such minute detail. Very impressive and so well put together with the original footage!
For some reason I was not into beastie boys that much. Even growing up In the nyc area in the late 80s and early 90s… I don’t know but aside from a few of their tracks I was not feeling them that much. But regardless an enjoyable well made locations video by 80s life Thanks again for your hard work brother!
Would love to see these locations for myself. Probably wont happen as I live in England. The next best thing is watching your videos. Amazing depth of research and top presentation as always Pal 👍
thanks for the video. i thought you only did movies, but this is also a good. another music video-related one could be tom petty’s free fallin’ - that is if you haven’t done one already.
Nice video, i first saw Beastie Boys live at the Greek Theatre with Run DMC i believe it was after they played the palladium, then i sAW them a bunch of times after. My long sleeve beastie boys shirt said something on the sleeve in Japanese i believe, and it said get of my di#$. I remember driving by the silver lake reservoir when i heard MCA passed i had to pull over for a little, sad day. I always heard rumors about where the beastie boys were seen when they were living in LA.

I can't stand it, I know you planned it
I'm gonna set it straight, this Watergate
I can't stand rocking when I'm in here
'Cause your crystal ball ain't so crystal clear
So while you sit back and wonder why
I got this fucking thorn in my side
Oh my God, it's a mirage
I'm tellin' y'all, it's a sabotage
So, so, so, so listen up 'cause you can't say nothin'
You'll shut me down with a push of your button?
But you, I'm out and I'm gone
I'll tell you now, I keep it on and on
'Cause what you see you might not get
And we can bet, so don't you get souped yet
You're scheming on a thing that's a mirage
I'm trying to tell you now, it's sabotage
Why
Our backs are now against the wall?
Listen all y'all, it's a sabotage
Listen all y'all, it's a sabotage
Listen all y'all, it's a sabotage
Listen all y'all, it's a sabotage
I can't stand it, I know you planned it
I'm gonna set it straight, this Watergate
Lord, I can't stand rockin' when I'm in this place
Because I feel disgrace because you're all in my face
But make no mistakes and switch up my channel
I'm Buddy Rich when I fly off the handle
What could it be? It's a mirage
You're scheming on a thing, that's sabotage
