No question the camera is a beast. An A7Siii lite version with extras.
For me, however, it is more important to see what makes a cool location and a light source.
Very good work so far one of the best videos about the ZVE1.
Not sure if its just the LUT or if he did something else but at 1:47 this is the best skin tone on sony camera I have ever seen
Sony, now, has a serious competitor if you’re not a Sony customer before. I talk about PANASONIC DC-S5 II (X). I have not decided yet Sony a7m4 or ZV-E1 (10) and am a Sony customer. But Panasonic made me think.
Yes indeed! This is definitely one of the most important camera in 2023. Its just amazing how much performance you can get out of this small body. Definitely really good value for money. Thank you so much for sharing the behind the scenes!

It goes from 24 to 32 where I live so unfortunately, I won’t even give this a try.

This looks like a great camera. Even though I already have the FX30, this looks like it would be a great companion for it. I'm not too concerned about the single card slot. I shot a feature film with the GH5 and one card. I think the brand of the card is most important. I avoid Lexar cards. I shoot mostly with ProGrade, SanDisk Extreme and Sony Tough cards. Either way, the ZV-E1 is one of the more attractive cameras I've seen in a while. I'm already subscribed, so I look forward to your coverage of the ZV-E1.
Fx30 is the better choice..I’m waiting to see how the new A7c2 will pan out ..I need a b cam for my A7s3
@@EverythingFilmmaking a7c 2 will not be a video beast like this is, the rolling shutter will be bad compared to this and low light capabilities less.

@@EverythingFilmmaking Since most *new* cameras today come with 10-bit 422, it might be best to hold out for the A7Cii. From what I've heard, the A7Cii will most likely be released around summer time maybe sooner. Worth the wait to see.

were you shooting in Slog 3 for this? I noticed your metering was usually only 0.3 overexposed. Was there a specific reason you kept it that low instead of the traditional 1.7 - 2.0? :)
Great Review! Will the FX3 still be your to go camera for client work? I bought the A1 last year and want one for just film and I am confused which one I should get, the FX3 or this (working with documentaries/video ads/shorts and social media (especially cars and lectures is my niche) I am not ready for the FX6 yet. What do you think?

Jacques with what you said about this new Sony Camera. Elements of it reminds me of the Sony A7siii. Of which I might purchase. At least a used pretty much new Sony A7siii alongside a Sony A74.

I don't know....this looks like it may be a great camera, BUT.......in every video I've seen on this camera, the person is using G Master lenses and other higher end lenses. How much of this "quality" is the lenses versus the camera? That's what I'm curious about. For example...what if you were using Sigma lenses etc.? Still look amazing?

Random question and maybe out of topic.. can you do a video on the ronin settings ? Your shots are always smooth and i cant figure out why my shots, although there smooth it still noticeable that its on a gimbal

Hi Jacques, why do you prefer using the zeiss 35mm vs the gm 35mm?
To be honest, in the past I chose it because it had less breathing. The GM has more focus breathing although breathing compensation is a thing now.

I own the A7iii (for stills) but I'm looking for a video camera with 10bit footage. So would you recommend the ZVE1 over the A7IV as they're approximately the same price...??
If video is your thing... 100% take this camera over the A7IV :)
How did the 1224 GM do on autofocus for video? I've only used mine for stills so far.
It did a solid job with AF! LOVE THAT LENS!
How much power percentage of Nanlite do u used when filming this video?
For the close-ups around 10-15% but for the wides we went up to 50% which is already very bright.

Why did you use a dual handle in the Gimbal? And what is the Forza Backpack mode, is that a real feature or did you Just call it that way?
I always use the Dual Handles if I have them with me, for sure gives me more control over movements. Back pack mode is just a term we use sometimes, it's not a feature it's just the balast + v-locks in a backpack hehe

No it does take stills, it's just 12MP like the A7sIII
Unfortunately I haven't taken any stills yet.
Even with an iPhone he can produce amazing footage. He's so talented. The camera has nothing to do with it. Is pure talent. Besides who needs a camera like this when most are watching on their phones? Still prefer Super 35 sensors.

Overheating is a non issue for most. The dual cards is the only thing that would make me think twice. I have never had a failure but that doesn’t mean I never would. Having said that, pro cameras only had one copy being recorded for decades so we forget how lucky we are.
Absolutely agree with you Andrew! I'd still get it for all my B-Roll if it meant I could finally make the jump from 8 Bit to 10 Bit etc. This camera bridges an important gap!
