Its frustrating when you are climbing on the missed, and you look down and see Planes, hangars and runways! But its fun breaking out at minimums... good job Captain.
The right decision. Better viz second time round. This is how it should be done. No fuss, no debate. You go around if no runway in sight at decision height.

God I wish I had a Boeing 737 max. That cockpit is just so full of technology. I remember flying SR22’s in college with G1000’s and thinking that was cool lol
Why fly that first approach manually? Would have made a sweet cat III. And why did the pilot flying to approach also fly the go- around? Not SP in any airline I've seen...
How does it work? To ILS full autoland you don't set minimums or do you set it on lower altitude, can someone explain ? I mean if u autoland it seems like u dont need minimums because plane landing itself, am i wrong ?
Was the go-around triggered because the airfield equipment or the pilot’s qualifications weren’t up to the standard required for a blind autoland? I’m sure the aircraft would be ..
CATIII (Autoland) is only available if the; A. airport B. Aircraft C. Airline D. Aircrew, are all certified for it. It is a myth that Autoland is everywhere. There are, in fact, very few airports in the world that are CATIII certified.
Now THAT"S how to do it. I see pilots disconnect the autopilot 5 miles away from the runway. This guy let the AP line up the aircraft, find the perfect glideslope and disconnected once the plane was stable. Then did his flare and runout under manual control. Not only does that ensure the plane is functioning right and reduces workload, but there's no chance the pilot will land on the taxi way like happened recently. Bravo sir, you're using the plane as it was intended.
To be honest I did not see this go around in the video. Unless it was edited out, the video showed full decent until approaching minimums. Then the pilot said "continue" at about 4:10, and subsequently landed the aircraft without a glitch.
Rayan Altowayan Momentary correction in the flight controls, perhaps he felt a shudder in the yoke that threatened to float him off course of the centreline. Obviously a snap correction. It was only for one second, after all.
That's an interesting catch. I think he engages the reversers on idle (as per usual unless you need more power), goes for the yoke (he won't need that hand until they come to down to 60 knots and reversers get cut) but then I think he reconsiders the reverse power (who knows what he felt, maybe not stopping quite fast enough?) and goes back for a bit more reverse power (you can see him pull up the levers a little bit more). He's the one landing, his call based on what his experience and the seat of his pants tell him.
Depends on the day, the actual time and micro climate formations. I know in the rainy season here in Costa Rica, at 1 to 2pm MRPV is in under a storm, all horrible, and 5km away from my inlaw's house is nice and sunny. Also, I was not clear 100% in the video if he landed in MMMY or not.
The human eye can see more than the camera and our video screens can pick up so often on video you won’t see it until a few seconds after the eye can see it if it’s difficult to see like this was.
You only need to see the Runway Environment for a CAT 1 Approach. Runway Environment includes the Approach Lighting System - which clearly came into the pilots field of view BEFORE the minimums call out - therefore the crew were able to continue with the approach. If there were no Approach Lighting System present then the minima would be higher & the missed approach point would be further from the runway & higher above the Touch Down Zone Elevation.
I was nervous at the beginning of the video as I thought the pilot was spending too much time looking back at the camera, potentially losing situational awareness but then I saw the plane is level at 36,000, the Copilot has the controls, and the pilot was maintaining awareness.

That must be really annoying when you're doing everything right but the weather says nuh uh uh.
It was filmed on April 24 th 2018.
The aircraft before and behind us saw the runway and landed.
I turned to Udo to tell him he was the jynx.
Great video showing what minimums are for! Excellent flying imo. Butter smooth on touchdown.
Very professional and calm go around. Also very well shot video 👍🏾

WOW the B737 MAX is such a great aircraft! Fantastic video!
awesome that you were onboard!

Great professionalism by the crew !
Nice videos! Keep up the great work and always happy landings!
I've never seen before the 737 max cockpit those screens are bigger than the previous boeing models.
My first time seeing it too. It’s kinda like the 787 cockpit but still has some of the features from 737-800.
one of the reliable & safe vehicle ever made😍
@Wengie Media I heard the fault lay with airline maintenance.

Video should be retitled to B737MAX Missed Approach.
Great video!! Cant wait to fly one of those one day.
Why did the captain pull the yoke so much towards him upon touchdown?
It's called a flare, nose up so rear undercarriage touch first.
Why fly that first approach manually? Would have made a sweet cat III. And why did the pilot flying to approach also fly the go- around? Not SP in any airline I've seen...
Porobably the airport ILS isn't equiped with Cat III

The weather is just fine in Monterrey though, I live in MTY and its clear skies with no problems. Why wasn't the weather good?

Great job landing. Shalom
Good decision in first landing
Good pilote
Incredible. The landing was a bit late though
What do you mean by "late"?
If you mean his “touch down”, it was still within the TD zone so perfectly safe (landings are rarely exactly on the big white blocks)
@Justin WAI [10N07M] The ILS glide slope takes you to 1000' down the runway
Is AUTOCAT not in the 737?
More likely the airport ILS
There's always thing called go around. That's was a very smooth landing though.

Wow the second try was close. I only saw the runways after some good 3sec after the Minimums Call out. I would have aborted again.

Pretty sure only the approach lights need to be visible to continue an approach. The runway itself does not necessarily need to be seen.
You do not actually have to have the actual runway in sight at minima. As long as you can see the approach lights you may continue.
So it was not that close actually the second try.
master👍
Hearing Mexicans speak such good English makes me want to get off my ass and learn Spanish.
Why didn't land with cat lll?
Not every airport has CAT III ILS. Most of them are CAT I.
If that was Monterrey (MMMY), its ILS is cat-I, not III. So go around. :)
It wasn’t nessesarilly fog, it was just really low clouds. The CAT approaches are for fogs.
amazing
Oh yeah yeah.
