Then I moved to the treadmill, and, as I was adjusting the speed, I forgot my finger on the button that increases it, and I almost ended up on one of those RUclips fail videos. oh thanks so much - recently joined a gym and been eyeing up the stepper machine but not sure how to get started - from your video I now know exactly what to do - perfect! :)
Andrew Arvelo (HW) THINGS I LEARNED: 1- The first thing that I learned is that the incline treadmill is equally if not more so effective than jogging on it. This shocked me but is honestly completely understandable, when walking and taking your time, you are always making sure you lift your foot up, and you are more controlled, and more parts of your body are being used. 2- The second thing I did not know is when doing tricep ropes, you can have multiple different positions to choose from, I always thought the frontward way he shows, in the beginning, was the only way. 3- The last thing that I learned is that it is important to do specific parts of your body throughout different days of the week, there should always be leg day, chest day, and back day. Overall it is the best way to make sure you get the best of each workout for whatever it is you may be working on.
Thank you for your video... I lifted in high school and stopped for ten years. Now i am getting back to it. Your program is awesome. Thank u blessings Nancy

I'm still a newbie in the gym despite having been working out consistently for a few months by now. So a lot of machines and racks are still kinda confusing to me. I went around that issue by starting working out at home with just body weight a light weight dumbbell exercises. Eventually though, that started feeling like it wasn't enough for me to progress, so I went back to the gym. Now I'm having youtube teach me how to use the gym equipment. This was a good video, but I felt like it still lacked some important information. Like how to load weights onto barbells, how to get the right angle incline on benches, etc. Right now I'm struggling with even just figuring out how to put on and take off the handle on the lat pulldown machine. I can't reach up to it so I have to stand on my tippy toes and pull it down first, and this has already caused me to injure my hands, because of the amount of weight I'm pulling with just one hand, even with the pin pulled out of the rack. It easily slips out of my grip. I love doing lat pulldowns (especially because I'm still too weak to do pull ups) but that little issue getting the handle on and off the machine is seriously giving me anxiety. How is that meant to be done? Why no instructions? Am I an idiot? I have so many questions! Also how would I go about doing chest presses when I'm too weak to lift the weight of the barbell? I can only lift about half that weight for that kinda exercise.
You can do this I promise. Are you just starting out at the gym? If so, I create beginner-friendly workout plans and tutorials on my channel that break down exercises step-by-step. Check it out if you're interested
This video is a great introduction, but there can be a learning curve with all those machines. Here's a tip: Most gyms have trainers who are happy to help beginners learn proper form for different exercises. Don't hesitate to ask for a quick pointer if you're unsure about something! In the meantime, on my channel, I have a whole series of short video tutorials specifically on proper form for different gym machines. They're perfect for getting you started and feeling confident using the equipment:
Very helpful! Going to try these. I have a gym in the next building beside mine (same buildings, same amenities) until ours is ready, so not all the machines in this video are there but I was really looking for a way to help my form. I have lost 40+ lbs and am now new to body recomp and am trying to focus on losing fat + building muscle.
This was a great vid! I'm a runner and know the gym for x training but now have an injury that will take quite a bit of time to recover from. I decided to become a sort of gym freak and workout every day. This video really helped me figure out a program and to understand the correct form and way to do them. Been looking over a lot of these vids and yours is the best 👌 Thank You!
Running injuries can be frustrating, but it sounds like you're making the most of your recovery time. Daily workouts are great for some, but rest and recovery are crucial for muscle growth and preventing burnout. Have you considered incorporating some active recovery days into your routine?

Great stuff, some good tips here, still havn't figured out a good program for my training, started with the gym yesterday, tried just about every machine and spent about 3 hours there. A tip to those who feel uncomfortable around other people, try saying hello, talking, asking for tips, making gym friends is great, makes workouts more fun too. Everyone is uncomfortable the first few days or being anxious of looking dumb, other people are just in the same position as you and probably feel just as uncomfortable.
This is the one thing I hate about the gym - not knowing how to use the kit, and feeling way intimidated by other experienced members. My local gym is full of idiots who bowl around thinking they own the place. I hate it. I wish it was different. However, I think it’s just a case of feeling uncomfortable until you get it, then the anxiety goes away. About to start my gym journey this week, I can’t let other people stop me from getting fit. Thanks for the video.
For the stretches on Monday, what stretches should I do. Also thanks for making this video, I've been going to the gym for a month now and I have had no idea what to do.

Probably the best workout/bodybuilding video on RUclips. I applaud your honesty. But please tell me is it enough to train a muscle once a week? Do we need rest days for abs? I am 70 and I want to start working out.
That's fantastic to hear you're considering starting a workout routine at 70! It's absolutely possible to improve your fitness and well-being at any age. Here's a response to the comment addressing their questions about muscle training and rest days: Muscle Training Frequency: While the video might showcase a specific routine, training each muscle group once a week can be effective, especially for beginners. Here's a breakdown: Twice-a-week training is generally considered optimal for muscle growth. This allows for sufficient stimulation and recovery. Once-a-week training can still lead to progress, particularly when you're starting out or focusing on maintaining muscle mass. The key is to focus on intensity during your workouts. Choose weights or resistance that challenge you for 8-12 repetitions

That's what I was going for so I'm glad it's helpful!
You nailed for me, sir.
oh thanks so much - recently joined a gym and been eyeing up the stepper machine but not sure how to get started - from your video I now know exactly what to do - perfect! :)
Andrew Arvelo (HW) THINGS I LEARNED:
1- The first thing that I learned is that the incline treadmill is equally if not more so effective than jogging on it.
Thanks for keeping the workout fast and simple. It's so easy to follow.

Finally, someone with basic yet useful information and demonstrations! great job David Duncan. However, I think a 3-day full-body split with 2-days for cardio is more effective to build muscle and burn fat!
You're absolutely right, a 3-day split with dedicated cardio days can be very effective for building muscle and burning fat, especially for some fitness goals.
This video was designed as a general introduction to strength training for complete beginners. A full-body split might be a great next step for viewers who want to take their workouts to the next level.
Actually, on my channel, I have a series dedicated to different workout splits, including a beginner-friendly 3-day split routine!

Thanks for the info! I've been going through the same routine for a few weeks now, not really knowing how to add more diversity and this really helps alot!
Did u get gd results fr following the program?

The best ever workout video, very clear and to the point. No tricks to lure to watch other videos or purchase E book or anything else. I am a newbie at the gym, had no clear idea what to do to shed my stubborn pounds and strengthen my body. I will surely try this plan. thanks David!

Great video ! I am 60 years old and never really worked out before, I am trying to live a healthy lifestyle after being diagnosed with throat cancer, along with eating healthier and trying to work out on a regular basis, that being said, I have no idea what equipment to use or how to use it, this is a great video for a beginner like me, thanks again Gordon

Thanks a lot for this. I just started going to the gym after many years of not working out (post-injury) and your video is really helpful. I was kinda lost at the gym the other day. Now I know I can go back to this video like I have an imaginary gym-buddy. 😎
I watched this video and was swelling with confidence! I went straight to the gym, walked up to a bench, and realized I didn't know how to adjust the gym bench. I started investigating the bench and tinkering with the screws, but ended up adjusting it backwards. Some people were looking at me wanting to use it, so I panicked and got the hell out of there! Stuck to incline cardio that day.

im very new to the gym and i have been trying to find a nice cut and dry routine video, so thank you for making this.

Great video dude, i started going to the gym yesterday, with absolutely no clue of how do the machines work or what to do. Thanks for the explanation.
Thanks man, im 15 years old and just started hitting the gym, this really helped a lot
Thank you so much for this video! You're not only handsome and super-fit, you're also a very generous and kind person. 🙏
Thanks so much for showing us how to use the equipment

Thank you sooo much David I've just found you!! Exactly what I'm looking for. Had an induction today and I was quite confused re the equipment. My trainer had a limited time to give me but I have the programme and it's set out pretty much like yours. I have subscribed so I'm hoping for more content. I'm especially interested in improving my bone density and general strength. I suffer from a bulging disc in my back which causes sciatica. I'm gonna be busy binge watching all your videos. I have lost 4 stone in the last year so I want to keep it off!! Thanks so much! ❤xx
It can be a lot to take in at first, especially with the equipment.
I completely understand the frustration of limited trainer time. Thankfully, there are tons of resources online to help beginners get started with proper form.
Here's a tip: Many gyms have trainers who are happy to answer quick questions about specific machines. Don't hesitate to ask for a pointer if you're unsure about something!

Thanks so much this helped me a lot ! 🙂
thanks, David! I have been training at home, but just start to train in the gym. Your video is really helpful!
Awesome, thanks for watching it!
Hi bro you really encouraged me to go to the gym but i have one question what does sets mean
You’re really a good teacher. Thanks 🙏.
What do you recommend to do on a soar day like wednesday? Cardio? Aswell for Saturday to get in shape and burn belly fat asap.

Here's a response to the comment addressing their questions about muscle training and rest days:
Muscle Training Frequency:
While the video might showcase a specific routine, training each muscle group once a week can be effective, especially for beginners. Here's a breakdown:
Twice-a-week training is generally considered optimal for muscle growth. This allows for sufficient stimulation and recovery.
Once-a-week training can still lead to progress, particularly when you're starting out or focusing on maintaining muscle mass.
The key is to focus on intensity during your workouts. Choose weights or resistance that challenge you for 8-12 repetitions
I really appreciate the tips and it is very helpful for starting up in the Gym. I want to try your 4 days program plan in the Gym. Thank you for your guidance.
