As an Indonesian I've seen alot of variation of Indonesian Fried Rice, and Yours are truly amazing even you put the shrimp paste in it. PERFECT
Deadpool
@@Wahid_on_youtobe Everything is wrong what Marion does. First you need to put the shrimp paste, unions, garlic and red pepper in a blender, then you put it in the pan for 5 minutes on medium heat. The chicken you will do before everything and put it in at the end. Never ever put a chickenstockcube in! Maybe put it in when you cook the rice, but i would leave it out. If you like a salty nasi goreng use bacon instead of chicken.
@@Joey-ct8bm You again fool
Marrion you cook it like an indonesian, im amazed thats exactly how i love my nasi goreng is
The lovely thing about nasi goreng is: it's so versatile 💕 there's no wrong way to make it! Even Indonesians have a million version of them lol.
Thanks marion, now i'm hungry and know what to cook! XOXO

As long as you put the dark sweet soy sauce or kecap manis. It's a must
@@erwintan4746 memang di agama dibolehkan, tapi di agama sayaaa... Neraka menanti hahaha
I made this today and it was sooo good, exactly what I wanted in an asian fried rice. Its so simple to cook with so little ingredients. I topped my dish with chopped spring onions which really complimented and enhanced the taste of the dark sweet sauce and the shrimp paste.
I don't know if you're aware, Marion, of the good you're doing to many people. Great recipes, classics, to make entire families happy at the dinner table.
You're the person who taught me exactly how to cook jasmine rice for fried rice. Basic key stuff. Your contribution deserves an award. Really.
Thank you so so much.
She said it was **HER** version. So take a seat ingredient police
Yups...
There is many version of nasi goreng
And everyone can make their own version
Here in indonesia there is no rule how you make it or what ingredients you use for your nasi goreng
Sorry for bad english
Sorry about my fellow indon

well, i don't see her use salt in there and in her version she not use sambel cabe or sambel tomat, but instead the big red chili for to be mixed with the nasi goreng. and i don't see any other Bumbu that will make Nasi Goreng more Yummy beside the brown one that looks like terasi and the yellow one that looks like will make the nasi goreng have chicken curry flavor. +Those Onion is so big, i don't like eating those big piece Onion.
IKR
that looks so indonesian, but shallot is often used instead of onion for indonesian nasi goreng though.. but I think anyone can make their own style nasi goreng, and what I love about this recipe is using shrimp paste, adding more spiciness would be great with this recipe. good job.
If we Indonesian wants Indonesian food more recognized all over the world, we need to realize that there will be some modifications. Italian food is so different in US, pizza is different in Indonesia... Please appreciate if other give some appreciation to our food.
I've cooked nasi goreng like this before, it's one of my favorite meals to cook. best part is, you can use up old bits of capsicum, celery, or spring onions you find in the fridge. it may not be traditional, but they all taste very nice when fried in the soy sauce. waste not, want not.
We Dutch all practically grew up on the Indonesian kitchen.
Indonesia was one's (until very recently) a Dutch colony for many centuries and most of the Indonesian dishes are known for probably that same amount of time here in the Netherlands.
It's so normal here, we practically see it as a Dutch staple.
And it's a very healthy and tasty way to cook.
Nasi Goreng is every Friday, like Sate is Sunday to us Dutch xD.
woah...really?
@@andreasbernardi3654 Ja.....yes.
Oh wow! That's so awesome, I had no idea! I looooove Indonesian food.
Until very recently? Can you elaborate?

Is the Real indonesia secret of nasi goreng ... its caramelized everything like soy sauce. egg rice. spices .
Fried rice is one of my absolute favourite foods, I find it so comforting. Can't wait to try this and your other fried rice recipes
Try making chopped or ground garlic mixed with candlenuts and put in oil for a premix for fried rice. You would never go back to not using them
Hi Marion! I just need to say that this recipe is really awesome!!! I made it yesterday. Myself and my wife loved this dish. You really made our day!!! Thank you so much!!! Will definitely go through all your videos and start cooking!!
I wanted to make Nasi Goreng and looked on your channel for a recipe. Was disappointed not to find one. However, this video came up right before i made it, so yayyy! Saved my dinner!
My Dad, from Indonesia, would make this and we would go bananas when it was served up for dinner. I’m going to try your recipe!
Is this similar to the instant dry noodle?
kecap manis literally translated to sweet soy sauce. but it is different than the thick soy sauce which is a salty soy sauce with a thicker consistency. while quite common in south east asia, kecap manis is very popular in indonesia. if you want to find kecap manis in the asian store, you can look for brand like Bango, ABC, or nasional. these are the big brand name
Right to point bro, nice
Other brand are cap SEDAAP and INDOFOOD
i love Nasi Goreng Malaysian style, Kampung Fried Rice.
Lord I love fried rice....so many lil details that are just gonna take it over the edge....
In Indonesia we use shallots instead of onion, and i love to pour my sweet soy sauce direct into hot wok to get maximum caramelization 😉
Not much people know how to pour indonesian soy sauce in a right way. Good job!
U are so damn right bro. To the point
Shallots hanya ada di indonesia jadi mereka mengganti dengan ingredience yg mendekati, pilihannya bawang bombay. So maafkan akan segala keterbatasan ingrediences mereka 😊
@@maklaper6597 nope. even in the UK they have shallots. it is not as rare as you think. :)
@@maklaper6597 shallots is a staplr ingredients, not rare.
Dumplings, noodles, and oh yes, FRIED RICE. This looks yum. And the lite extra tip at the end, genius. 😋😋😋
My mother in law makes this dodgy Dutch variant of Nasi (rice, ham, egg, spring onion, nothing else) so I'm really going to looking forward to this.
I found your channel recently and I love it. You explain things clearly and make me want to cook.
I made it right after watching her video, with a few tweaks of course, added sambal belachan, bok choy, and homegrown laksa leaves (coz that’s what I had) and it was soooo good! The key thing to note is sometimes not really what that goes in (if you can’t find or don’t like something just substitute with something else) but when they go in and how, how long to cook, how high the heat is, searing your protein etc...and that is the strength of Marion’s style of cooking and once you get it, your dishes will be as good as hers. 😋😍👍
Which steps did you modify and when did you add those? Singaporean here with similar pantry to yours.
Hi Marion, thank you so much for this wonderful recipe. I made it twice, once with shrimp paste and once without. They tasted different and honestly I loved the shrimp paste one. ❤️❤️
The slow motion shots are beautiful
Wow thats the most indonesian and best a foreigner made an indonesian fries rice dayum saya bangga denganmu😍😍😍😍
This is really interesting!
As an indonesian myself we would mash garlics and shallot. Also the sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) I think that's what makes indonesian fried rice kinda different with other, the garlics, shallots, and the sweet soy sauce (kecap manis). I always need those for making a fried rice, that's the main ingredients hahahaha
"hahahaha" 🤦🏻♂️
Wow simple nasi goreng yet looks soo fancy, and the videographing is amazing as well, terimakasih
This is definitely an authentic Nasi Goreng recipe! Good job!
I really love your videos! I love to cook and you inspire me to venture into the world of Asian cooking more often. Everything you make looks so good.
Sweet soy sauce a.k.a kecap manis + sambal + fried shallots = typical Indonesian condiments. Great video Marion 💓 Love from Indonesia

Also u put friend onion n cucumber (but actualy indonesian style of cucumber is not just cucumber. U must soak the cucumber on vinegar with feesh onion, little bit augar n salt). But i think ur way just amazing as well... That was indonesian style... Proud

whoa didn't expect this coming, great job on nasi goreng!
she used WOK, uncle Roger approves it
But there wasn't any MSG so .... fewYOOOOOO!
I'm falling in love with your channel so fast.
Helo from Indonesia: FYI actually we mashed all the spices, shallot, garlic, red chilli, and a bit of shrimp paste, fried it until they fragrant, and then put the egg, salt, chicken powder broth, shreded chicken, cold rice and unsticky, and then put the sweet soy sauce, fried untill the rice smell a bit smokey the fire temperatures should be high, and done ready to serve :)
Wow u really nailed it! It’s just the exact way on how we make Indonesian style fried rice. Keeping all the ingredients simple, and of course cook them in a very hot wok. The sticky part is also tasty!

You make Asian cooking look simple, thank you. I wish we could get your sauces in the UK. Just saying😁

Nothing better than nasi goreng. Especially if you've ever had it in SE Asia.... omg gotta give this a go....
Simple & delicious
I recall indonesian fried rice rarely include regular "salty" soy sauce in the recipe except served in chinese restaurants. I think this is some "indonesian style" fried rice cooked by most chinese indonesian since regular soy sauce are not usually found in the local market but available throughout the chinese market. Anyway, amazing recipe!
add some fried dried anchovy instead of shrimp paste if you don't like the smell,..
Tried this recipe tonight and it was great! Used Filipino shrimp paste and chili bean paste for the spice and it worked out well ❤️

I was here 4 days ago, tried to mske it and conpletely messed up, now im here again drooling, i would kill to eat that again, anyone knows where to get this indonesian fried rice (which exactly like this) in belgium kindly hit me up pls
Bro, slow down, take it easy and retry that. The ingredients is simple, the cooking is straight forward, what to lose ? Hehe. However if you aren't confident with your cooking, i believe there is some in Brussels (idk if thats the correct way to spell it)
Idk if this help you at all, but theres plenty indo restaurants in netherlands
if youre close to the dutch border: we have it EVERYWHERE.
Ive just made nasi goreng for my husband this morning. But i added with coriander and black pepper in it. Its my new style. And the taste is delicious more herb taste. 😊😊
Instead of shrimp paste, I use sambal badjac, which is a hot oily chili paste with fermented shrimp. Also, paprika, bacon,
two eggs broken right into the bumpo, before I add the rice. Then another strip of bacon and fried egg on top for serving, and sweet pickles on the side.
I AM INDONESIAN AND DEFINITELY WILL APPROVED THIS AND THUMBS THIS UP 😍😍😍😍
Stock cube? Marco Pierre White approves!
