    On the last step ( the 2 distance chamfer) I am getting an error that the chamfer cannot be created at the requested size. The most it will allow is 1.7 mm, rather than 3mm and 5mm as you did

      You may have put the rectangle facing down rather than up. edit the initial rectangle sketch starting at the origin and drawing to the right and up. Then correct the sweep in the parametric timeline to complete.

  • @jamiehooton6253
    @jamiehooton6253 7 месяцев назад +2

    For those people getting an error when trying to do the sweep at the 05.41 mark even after changing the operation to 'JOIN' from 'CUT' I found I got around this by editing my pipe via the Parametric Timeline to increase it's diametre from 38mm to 39mm. The error message I had previously got said F360 may require bodies to overlap to enable the sweep to work hence my idea to increase the pipe size.

    this is great I'm learning a bunch. I went back to the sketch, just before the loft and I projected the face of the shaft and then extended the line against the shaft farther along the shaft circumstance but touching. I then created a fillet from this line to the top of the blade profile, and trimmed the bit below the filet within the sketch so it was a single defined sketch. This automatically lofted the fillet along the blade path.

    Great tutorial. I believe we needed to select guided surface for sweeping the rectangle for the software to know how the swept object needs to adjust its angle being always perpendicular to the center of the core ones being swept. Otherwise it will try to keep it parallel which ends up in the geometry collision. Is that correct?

    I do not have the "remove" command available. I read up in it but it was beyond my understanding at this point but referenced "direct mode" and "timeline mode" although it seems like I should have it in the menu since I am in timeline mode? The loft command at the end is very tricky. I had some problems projecting the bottom of the pipe to the point. It seemed like a piece of the coil helix was sticking through the bottom. Could you do the loft earlier in the process? At any rate I figured it out after a while. Thank you again!

    • @ProductDesignOnline
      @ProductDesignOnline  Год назад +1

      Good catch! It won't much in this case. If the part were to get moved around or moved into another assembly file then it could throw a reference error. In which case, you can 'redefine sketch plane' and select the correct/desired plane.

  • @andyj2106

    I managed to complete this, but really, not. When I created the rectangle on the "plane to path" to sweep the blades I just couldn't get the sketch to fully constrain (i.e. there was no red lock symbol on the sketch item). The rectangle had the parallel constraints ok; entering the dimensions, the yellow lock symbol appeared. But the rectangle stayed resolutely blue no matter how many times I rewound the timeline , deleted actions, started again etc. The only difference I noticed was that when you were doing this, your origin point seemed to be at the end of the coil (i.e. your green Y axis ran up the outside of the pipe and the red axis horizontal away from the coil end (on mine those axes were through the middle of the pipe and just below the coil end - thus the rectangle "hovered" just above that red axis mark because the coil end was just above it.) Any idea why I couldn't get that sketch fully constrained?

  • @andaluspc

    Thank you. Great tutorial as usual. But I came across and issue that I also noticed in this video. When I choose pipe command, if I want to make distance less than 1 (like, 0.8), the pipe starts from the TOP towards the bottom of the referenced line. If I assume I want the pipe to be 80% starting from bottom to top, this is something that I couldn't achieve and I couldn't find out how it can be done.
    Pipe command doesn't allow to select start/end points.
    I tried to select reference line from different locations (either sides or the middle) and it always shows that I can slide the arrow of the distance only from the bottom to the top (shortening the pipe and removing parts on it at the bottom).
    I hope my concern is clear enough so someone can help addressing as I couldn't find a way online to change or control this behavior of pipe command.

    • @ProductDesignOnline
      @ProductDesignOnline  5 месяцев назад +1

      There's no way for additional control with the Pipe command. In a scenario like you describe, you'll want to use a regular Extrude of a circle.

      @@ProductDesignOnline Thank you for your response. Yes. Actually I used Extrude to accomplish what I wanted as you described.
