I lost my wife nearly 6 years ago and "had to make a choice that was not mine" when signing the DNR... "... I don't want you to hurt" haunts me to this day!! However, Shinedown helped me to grieve in a seriously intense way so I could push forward through the pain.

I know this video has been up for forever...but I love the fact that Brent sounds the same live as he does on the CD's they put out. He is true talent, no additives needed. Love this man
Only time I was ever mad at them was when they released leave a whisper 2 or whatever with 45 and simple man. I had already got the regular leave a whisper. was a young kid with very little money, but I had to have the new songs, was pretty crappy at the time but that album was well worth paying for twice.
Great song. I was introduced to this tune by my brother on the day of my dad's funeral. He told me the last time he talked to dad this was the song that came on the radio as soon as they hung up the phone. Kind of got a soft spot in my heart for this tune now.
At my dads funeral one of the songs played was Simple Man, the Skynard version. Right afterwards is when Shinedown released their version. Was so tough every time I turned on the radio it was on. I couldn't even listen to it for many years. Always wished Dad could have heard Shinedowns version im sure he would have loved it.
@jordanlee5460 Yes did you see the video for there song Daylight big Men crying so many crying in the crowd. That was another really emotional song and so true.
Such an underrated and under appreciated band...they have some songs that are better than anything in the mainstream...yet they still won't get the respect they deserve....This song is epic as fuck also....
I love how Eric and Brent sound when they sing together . I’m new to Shinedown music, I’m a Godsmack fan at heart. I am really enjoying Brent’s voice! It’s very soothing

One of the most beautiful live songs. You can hear all the pain in every single moment, It's like from another world❤❤. These guys are the reason why to stay and don't stop fighting.
This is the version they should've recorded. It adds a whole lot more emotion without all the added effects of the recorded version. Sends chills down my back every time!
This song resonates So many ways to some it’s a song left for those behind after someone passes away, but for Me this is the Song my son sang on his Way to Heaven ❤ he tried to overcome demons of bipolar and drug addiction, he loved Shinedown their music hits So Many Emotional Notes Peace Out As Tommy would Say
Only time i ever was lucky enough to see these guys, Brent opened the show by apologizing that he had been recovering from being sick, said he was sorry if he didn’t live up to expectations, then went to perform one of the best sets I’ve ever seen live. As a vocalist, I completely understand the whole recovery from a respiratory illness can be murder. If I had walked in right after he had said he’d been sick, I would have never guessed in my life he was recovering. I could tell there was zero autotune. That is true talent. Zach absolutely shredded even with his wrist. I have no regrets.
OMG! I've been listening to this song all day and it strikes a cord within my heart to the point of thinking about my relationship with my daughter's father. He was very toxic to me and I should of saw it the moment we met and he got me hooked on crank, then crys. Back December 21st 2008 a day I will never forget....we were out of cigarettes and dope and we were verbally fighting. It almost escalated to a fist fight when he tried restraining me down on the bed. I was so pissed I jumped up and had my fist balled up and was gonna swing. But I said Eric, I can't do this anymore and I said I was calling the sheriff to have him leave. He was crying and begging me to not do that and just talk. Next day I had Erica and took her to where Eric was just so it didn't seem like I was keeping him from his daughter. Oh God I tried to get him to come back and work things out. But instead that turns into an argument and I was freaking out that I was gonna loss him for good. And I have. That is what I deserved cuz I didn't stop to even consider reconciliation before I had him removed from here. 2008-2017 we didn't speak or have contact. He moved on and I did to. I got clean for 8ys. I would of made it to 9 yrs but when he sent me a message on messenger on March 21, 17, I met up with him to try reliving what it would be like to use together one last time... so there went my clean time. Recently I completely stopped contact and learning to get past my mistakes. It's a work in progress. Hearing Call Me described the situation I experienced. Love Shinedown! Sorry the rant. But I felt like I had to share.

Wrap me in a bolt of lightning
Send me on my way still smiling
Maybe that's the way I should go
Straight into the mouth of the unknown
I left the spare key on the table
Never really thought I'd be able
To say that I'll visit on the weekend
I lost my whole life and a dear friend
I've said it so many times
I would change my ways no never mind
God knows I tried!
Call me a sinner, call me a saint
Tell me its over, I'll still love you the same
Call me your favorite
Call me the worst
Tell me its over I don't want you to hurt
Its all that I can say
So I'll be on my way
I finally put it all together, nothing really lasts forever
I had to make a choice that was not mine
I had to say goodbye for the last time
I put my life in a suitcase
Never really stayed in one place
Maybe that's the way it should be
You know I've lived my life like a gypsy
I've said it so many times
I would change my ways, no never mind
God knows I tried
Call me a sinner, call me a saint
Tell me its over, I'll still love you the same
Call me your favorite
Call me the worst
Tell me its over I don't want you to hurt
Its all that I can say
So I'll be on my way
I'll always keep you inside
You healed my heart and my life
And you know I've tried
Call me a sinner, call me a saint
Tell me its over, I'll still love you the same
Call me your favorite
Call me the worst
Tell me its over I don't want you to hurt
Its all that I can say
