About 10 years ago shinedown was staying at the hotel I was working at. One night they walked by to go to their rooms and I said “.45 is my favorite song!” They heard and came back up to me and were thankful and Chatted with me for a few mins. I told them I was in a band too. I was too nervous to ask for a pic but Eric came by the next night alone and I was able to get a pic. I also showed him my bass since I brought it to work to play late at night (I worked the graveyard shift. Saw Eric at NAMM not long after and showed him the pic and said that was me! They’re so nice!

Send away for a priceless gift
One not subtle, one not on the list
Send away for a perfect world
    One not simply, so absurd
In these times of doing what you're told
Keep these feelings, no one knows
What ever happened to the young man's heart?
Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart
And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
No real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45
Send a message to the unborn child
Keep your eyes open for a while
In a box high up on the shelf, left for you, no one else
There's a piece of a puzzle known as life
Wrapped in guilt, sealed up tight
What ever happened to the young man's heart?
Swallowed by pain, as he slowly fell apart
And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
No real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45
    Everyone's pointing their fingers
    Always condemning me
And nobody knows what I believe
    I believe
And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45
Swimming through the ashes of another life
No real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45
And I'm staring down the barrel of a 45
And I'm swimming through the ashes of another life
There is no real reason to accept the way things have changed
Staring down the barrel of a 45, 45

I really like the many voice inflections he moves to and from...it almost sounds like more than one man's voice...impressive indeed!

Every single time they are in Germany I do my best to be there. Seen them 5 times live and I won't stop going. Shinedown live is the most amazing experience

That's how the son of Myles Kennedy and James Hetfield sounds like. The precision of Myles and roughness of James are all included.

I believe we are all granted ć lives"while we're "alive" on earth. Some people look at it as "bond chances" but I look at em as lives... The lyrics "swimming thru the ashes of another life" to me represents the death of the "old you", the life you lived before you saved yourself... We're not granted second chances too often, but if you ever get one, hold onto it with dear life!

It's interesting to see this acoustic version vs the one 15 yrs ago when Shinedown performed in someone's home as a radio station contest. I love how acoustics are all unique.
