I saw a quote recently (forget where) but it said something to the effect of "Most people's idea of self care is really just after care and that's not sustainable". It's made me think! Right now I am in the midst of working out better pacing in my life. Weeks like yours do hapen and aren't controllable but it definitely helps if you (general you, not specifically you Amanda) have the ability to build in *preemptive* care and rest in your life, so there's already more leeway to work with. (Acknowledging that's also a privilege thing that not everyone has the ability to do.)
Thank you, Amanda, for all of your hard work for us. Sharing your life with us. Love your hair and hope Watson and Magic are soon feeling better and their usual lively selves Much needed and appreciated.
I dont comment a lot, but just wanted to say that the new haircut looks great! I know from experience it can be an adjustment to transition from long to short, but it really suits you! Hoping your animals feel better quickly.
It is an adjustment! Thank you so much for commenting, I appreciate it and thank you for the compliment. Last night Magic looked more alert than she has, so that's a great sign!
Thank you for sharing your diagnoses and explaining associated behaviors. I have no official diagnosis, but find myself recognizing some of the autism or ADHD behaviors you describe. I especially identified with your explanation of the need for recovery days!
Videos from other autistic creators were instrumental in me seeking a diagnosis. I wanted to add my voice, because we all are unique and someone may see their autism/adhd in my traits over someone else or vice versa. But I think everyone talking about neurodivergence makes a difference!
I really want to read your book. I actually don’t read hardly ever, especially fiction because I also have full aphantasia (and SDAM, ADHD inattentive type and I’m autistic). But I want to read your book because you are aphantasiac too so maybe I will be able to follow it.
I took a recovery day myself yesterday! After two days of not much sleep, all of the high frequency sounds were really getting under my skin. I bailed out of a social event I had scheduled and napped for a couple hours. Thank you God because today I can get back to doing a few more things.
Thank you for explaining part of your writing process. Specifically how you create your visual images on Pinterest. You are so self aware of your diagnoses. I have ADHD - inattentive & hyperactivity & autism. I am learning so much from the way you explain things. Thank you so much for creating your channel & continuing to post such helpful content.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experiences with us, I really like this video because you are not masking and you talk in a natural way. It makes it easier for me to understand and to relate.
😊 You're welcome, that's how I try to do most of my videos. I want people to see what unmasked autism can look like, and like for you and many others, see we aren't alone. ❤️
Me again. So glad I came across you today. Brilliant video. Recovery days, we gotta take them when we can. So happy you have a supportive husband and super excited about your book. Can't wait till it's published. Go you 💪 you are amazing!
I was just telling my therapist this morning how I took a planned day of recovery, but then yesterday, even though I had stuff I needed/wanted to do, I struggled to get off the couch. I think my brain needed more rest. Thank you for the book encouragement too! 😊
First off, LOVE the hair and gosh it must feel like such a huge weight off your shoulders. You would look great with even shorter hair too- you have similar features as a good friend of mine and she rocks even shorter curly hair, though she does like to use styling creams and a diffuser for special occasions. Second, thank you for speaking on this topic. It's something I've been struggling with even before I knew I was autistic. I just need a tremendous amount of recovery and it's hard not to equate that with laziness, apathy or any variety of negatives, and it's also just not fun from a dopamine side of things. I need at least one recovery day a week, if not more :/
Thank you for the compliment! I can't imagine going even shorter! But I do love super short on other people. This was already just a huge change for me! Also, yes, thank you for bringing up the word lazy. I meant to say that in the video. Rest is productive, not being lazy!
it's contagious! I love my long hair, but no regrets. This is so much easier to wash and dry. It does take a bit more time in the morning to actually style instead of throwing it up in a messy bun, but not too much. Usually just wetting it down and maybe adding a bit more mousse.
Aww, I'm sorry your pets haven't been doing well. One of our cats has hyperthyroidism and pancreatitis. She throws up a lot too, and therefore she's lost a lot of weight. I have to give her meds twice a day. As far as work...I am very lucky to be working from home ever since 2020. My job was an 8-5 office job. At first, I fought the working from home thing because it messed up my routine. But now that I've been doing this for 4 years, it gives me so much more flexibility to have some down time when I need it.
@@i.am.mindblind Yes it is! And I didn´t want to scare You because I thought You are already when Your cat is that weak and it would only make it worse to suggest something frieghtening what could be wrong with her. But I was not able to say something like "she will be okay soon" as I hate to just say something like this if it is just not clear she will. I was so relieved when You told that they found out what the problem is and that there is a high chance she will get well without any further complicated tzherapy like surgery! I know it´s a bit stupid as it is not my cat, but You know we just feel that much with people we like. Yes, I am very relieved. But poor kitty and poor humans who love her and have to suffer with her.
I appreciate the consideration. She was so very weak and I was scared she wasn't going to make it. She's doing so much better now. We have a follow up vet appointment this week to see what her future care will require. But I think now we know what to look for she won't get this bad again if she has another pain flare up with her spine.
My Mom has a tuxedo cat just like Magic. Her name is Rosa. I used to have a seal ragdoll cat, brown and white with beautiful blue eyes. Her name was Amber. Sadly, Amber passed away October 29, 2017 at 14 years old.

great quote!
I like that quote too. Had to send it to my husband.

Thank you. I'm so worried about Magic, but I have hope she's getting better.
Thanks for your incite.
❤️❤️
Magic looks very relaxed....
She's on a lot of pain meds.
She is very cute!

It's heavy on dialogue, which I personally prefer as someone with aphantasia! 😊

Hello Amanda, thank you for sharing. Yes recovery days are important. 💕NonnaGrace 🐓
Love the new cut!
Thank you so much!
Wishing the best for Magic from Spain, 😻😻🙏🙏.
Thank you ❤️
I would have a much better life if I could choose my own schedule.
We definitely need more breaks than many establishments would allow.
I love your new hair look!
Thank you! 😊
Awww I love your hair!!

Hello, I am late identified autistic, new to your channel just subscribed.
Hi! Thanks for subscribing! I really appreciate it. 🙂 Hope you get as much out of my videos as I do making them.
I love the hair. ❤ Now I’m tempted again to cut mine…

I hope Magic and Watson gets better....
Magic is looking better today! And we caught Watson's ear infection early so he'll be fine. I appreciate you thinking of them.
Cute hair cut! ❤😀
Thanks!
You look STUNNING, Amanda🤩
😁 Thank you! 🥰

love the curls
Thank you!
Very good hair cut choice
Thank you!
@i.am.mindblind I have not had a chance to listen to all but I plan to. I get a lot from what you have to say.
Soo cute...
The poor kitty😢. I was scared to talk about her last video, because my tomcat died in april and it was very traumatic to me.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Our pets are part of our family and it is devastating when they pass. 😔

Hi Amanda ,you look so cute and beautiful with your new haircut 🌹🌹🌹🌹🫶😍.
Thank you. I appreciate it.

I love rag dolls. I'm so sorry for your loss. I miss my kitty Jake who passed in 2020. He was my fur baby for my entire adult life!
@@i.am.mindblind Ragdolls are so special. I'm sorry you lost Jake.
Hello Amanda, your vey cute with the hair cut. The curls are very deceiving. I lost my curly hair and miss it. 💕NonnaGrace 🐓
I hope I don't lose my curls, but the same thing happened to my mom, when her hair turned grey it came in straight.
Ugh Watson, sad for You too. But maybe You don't mind as much to get Your ears cleaned. Best wishes for both pets and human nurses😷💚
He doesn't love it, but he gets a treat afterwards so it makes up for it. 😂
waiiiit what's your book again??
I'm still editing it, it's not published yet! 😊 Hopefully soon!
