The base of those "thumb tacks" as you put it are actually sabots and fly off and away from the round when it leaves the barrel. The round actually looks like a long dart with fins. They are some of the most penetrating rounds on earth, and are called APFSDS, or Armor Piecing Fin stabilized Discarding Sabot. During the early development of APFSDS, they were made of hardened steel, then came a tungsten alloy, and then depleted uranium (DU). Most countries use tungsten as it has been improved to the point it is on par, and possibly even better than DU. The US has been using depleted uranium for a few decades now, and actually used it in Iraq fighting enemy T55s, T72s, and other soviet tanks that the Iraqi's had. Both tungsten and DU have their own benefits, tungsten relies on velocity for penetration while uranium actually suffers if it goes too fast (probably anything above 1200 meters per second would cause it to suffer), but penetrates better than tungsten going the same speed with the same density as DU has this self sharpening effect that allows the tip to stay sharp as it penetrates further and further into the armor.

@@casperghost9503 the fact he lined up the ammo by size has nothing to do with him not obeying physics nor does it have any effect on the physics of ammunition. Going by your meaningless statement he could line them up by velocity. Look what the line would look like then, or he could use energy at the muzzle or weight. Meaningless. You wanted him to use the measurement on the projectile he’s used the overall size or the round by height including casing which seems to have scrambled your brain. You aren’t even arguing for him to use a different metric. You want measurement of size just of a different part of the round. Fuck all to do with the video misrepresenting physics. Get back to school.
@@justbreakingballs if we just look at length of the round, including casing, and define that as the size of the round, we are incorrectly suggesting that length is the definition of size. Requesting they be lined up by caliber is the request for use of a different metric. I'm not saying that it's the best measurement, I'm saying it makes for a more accurate representation. People who know nothing about guns and ammunition regularly use meaningless comparisons like this one to argue against the rights of people to own firearms based solely on bullet length. I feel that its important for all of us to be professional and accurate with our information in order to prevent some mischaracterization of firearms and ammunition.
No one is suggesting length is the definition of size. What you are getting confused about is size needs a “of” after it. The lengthy is a good definition of size. Your statement that it’s incorrect is plain wrong as you had a predetermined idea of what size meant. You say if we look at the round including casing. A round does include the casing. If you want a video on just the size of the projectile then go make one without the casing even in the picture. Nothings incorrect in the video people just make assumptions. Why not do a video on the energy in each round. Different again. But the main point of my original reply was that in no way were physics some how wrong in the original video by showing a comparison or rounds using length as the metric. If people get the wrong end of the stick about what the video was then that’s their problem. They can go make their own.
definitivamente, pero hay algunos que siguen haciendo eso por mera costumbre y cultura aunque ya saben y respetan america, igual a como seguimos idolatrando el dios biblico si soy ateo change my mind
I... think u shudve put the name above the rounds itself. Putting it at the bottom wasnt a good call. 3-4 rounds were showing themselves before i could fully read the name of the 1st round.
It’s funny how the most popular ammunition is skipped over. Why? Do we not want people to know that the scary black guns shoot ammo smaller than a 30-30 round? Hmmm.
@Kevin Situ I'll take BoomerFudd route of not firing anything smaller than 10mm/.40cal. "Why you need a .30-06 when .45-70 can pulverize a deer in one shot?"
@Kevin Situ Due to the fact that the 45-90 was powered by black powder, it was a quite slow round compared to either the later .45-70 (early .45-70s were also black powder) or literally any .30-06, thus it didn't deliver as much energy. Though it would still stop anyone dead in their tracks quite easily lol.
I mean they did include .17 HMR which use to be extremely popular, and they also included .22 LR which is by far one of, if not the most popular round for small game, varmint, and plinking. They also included the 120mm APFSDS which is pretty much used by most modern NATO allied militaries.

It’s insane how the avg citizen can walk into their local autozone and buy a fully semiautomatic clipazine chambered in 800mm Gustav that can disperse 600 rounds per second. We need gun control!!

9x19(most common handgun round)
7.62x39(AK platform)
5.56 nato(AR Platform)
ARE glaring as those are the 3 most commonly used rounds on earth (besides 22LR which was included)
I will add more in future video. The purpose of this was to show non common rounds.

line them up by caliber. you have them lined up by height and it makes for a bad comparison, physics man. physics
Nothing to do with physics.
@@justbreakingballs If you believe that, then you don't know anything about ammunition. It has everything to do with physics, literally.

@@arya31ful TBH I think the .30-06 is more powerful than a .45-70 as its travels much faster, and also destroys your shoulder more.
@@PilotTed It really is. But there's still some people who thought "bigger but slower" is better than "smaller but faster" cartridge. That's what i think is called BoomerFudd.
