Hey! Great video! Just had a quick question. If you use the rear power source does it turn off right away when locked? Or after a certain amount of time?
Thank Yosef! It turns off when you leave the car around 10 minutes later. Sometimes it’ll turn on randomly then turn off again. Ot sure why it does that but maybe when someone wakes your car and sentry mode kicks in. But it’ll always turn back off in 10 minutes or so. You’ll love it. Do you think I’m able to install it between the cracks of the wooden dash instead of the vent? I have the hidden hud in the vent. If not, ill probably remove the hud.

Hey! Looks very cool. Since the ambient lighting plugs into the OBD port, does it still turn off only 10 minutes after leaving the car if you have sentry mode activated?
Dang that’s a good question. I know for sure at home since my sentry is off, the light goes off but I have never seen it off outside! I think you’re right!sentry mode will keep the light on. It doesn’t take much power so I’m not worried about that and it does look cool when you see your car at night with those lights on.

Hey Myong! Love the video! So got the lights the other day. I did the daisy chain approach like you did. Question, did you manage to close the covering? Was there a special orientation to it I haven't figured out. Just with the evbase lights, I barely got it to close, but I want to get a rear screen too and makes me think i won't be able to close it all the way. Just curious if you some how got it, or there is a cover adapter that gives us more room?

What happens if you plug them in the USB only with the new sensor? I assume you need to put the sensor outside the console to detect light?

I don’t know for sure but someone in the comment said that the lights will automatically turn off even though it’s plugged into the usb connector. Even plugged in the back will have the light remain on until maybe 15 minutes later or so when the Tesla completely shuts off on its own. So it doesn’t turn off right away.

I purchased these! Just curious why the light doesn't extend across the full dash or why it's only on the sides of the console and doesn't wrap around like the other lights out there?
I might still install these because these are the only ones I was able to find that don't come with footlights.
I don’t know why it doesn’t extend all the way on the dashboard or the center console. They should’ve made it a little longer and that would’ve solved that. Either way I still love it

Have you looked into the hanshow ultra RGB ambient lighting. Figuring out if I should do these or those but dont want to void warranty. Would love your input
I’ve been looking at it and it’s way nicer but a little challenging to install. It won’t void the warranty. I went in to the Tesla shop for warranty work and they saw all my accessories and told me they were cool.

Amazing video. I will definitely buy the kit. Would you happen to have a specific name or model so I can try to find the rear AC connector somewhere else. I asked EVBASE and they say it's only available in China. I have a Model 3 2019 - the steering wheel is really nice.
I also noticed EV Base stopped giving that plug. I’m not sure what other brands have that rear plug. You can wire it to your middle console organizer but you have to get a cigarette lighter adapter with multiple USB plugs. That’ll work just as great.

I got it but I didn’t want to install it cause I didn’t want the inside to be that bright from the footwell but some like it! The thin led lights on the dash and center console is bright but doesn’t brighten up the interior. Very cool effect.

how did you put all the wires and harness in back center console, maybe you show us.
There’s a gap in the ver bottom that I shoved all the wires into. Very tough and my cover didn’t fit all the way in but enough to look clean. Now this LED light just comes with USB-C plug from what people are commenting.
how did you route the wires from the center console?? mine showed up and its alot more difficult to hide wires i thought..
It’s a little tough to shove the led light into the center console but it’s doable wusing the plastic wedge tool. The wires that goes to the power source can be tucked under the side of the center console. There’s a gap there.
How do you thread the center console streamers down to the rear unit? I’m having trouble figuring out where you hid the wire
I showed in the video. Right underneath the center consul the black leather there’s a small gap that’s big enough to push the wire inside and it goes all the way to the back.

Hi do installing the ambient lights void warranty?
None of these accessories void warranty. They are all similar to replacing stereos which also doesn’t void warranty on regular cars. I checked with Tesla to make sure and even had a warranty service done with all my accessories in my car.

I have a model y do you have too plug it into the vent area or is it possible too route the cables to the cigarette lighter? I'm just a bit hesitant to prying the air vents in the back
Yes you can just route the wires without taking out the vent. Won’t be as clean but still very nice.
also are you aware of any companies that have the led strip going all the way across the dash??@@CameraToFreedom

I don’t think you can. I don’t really think of it as being rainbow but just all the colors of the spectrum.

I see lots of comments saying that the rear power plug is no longer included, but the product description on the site literally says this: "5-Power supply configuration: We have three ways to draw power, including the central armrest cigarette lighter, the glove box USB, and the rear power plug." So I am confused.. However, if it does not come included, is there anywhere we can buy that module to still do it from the back?
So now it seems like it only comes with the cigarette lighter and USB c which is just as good and will turn off when Tesla is completely shut off. I still love the LED light and it’s bright and very cool. You’ll love it. It sets a mood when you’re driving and isn’t distracting.

I installed them and they work great but now my sentry and viewing clips are really slow and laggy. I disconnected the usb from the splitter and straight into the tesla usb and watching the videos is back to normal again. Maybe the usb splitter provided is cheap and slow, i ordered a different one and lets see if this fixed the problem.
Wow thanks for sharing Chris! That’s so crazy it does that. I didn’t even notice and now I have to see if that’s happening on my Tesla. So strange. That LED I’m sure only takes very small amount of energy to turn on.

Nope. You can plug it into your usb c and just unplug it when you don’t want it. You barely notice it during the day and it’s nice.

Do the new ones come with that rear seat connector? The website doesn’t show a picture of that.
They took that out recently but it still works great with the usb cable. It will also turn off they said but it turns off when your Tesla completely shuts off that can take 10 minutes after you park to an hour which is the same with the back cable anyways.

I actually contacted them and asked them directly, they said it does come with it and also that the lights auto turn off within 1-2 minutes without the module. I ordered the dash, center console and sunroof lights without the module for now, worse case, I’ll order the module later, I’m sure it would be easy to add after the fact.
I got my kit and yeah it doesn’t auto turn off for a while. I ordered 2 60s auto shut off modules. Should arrive today
Just got my 2 60s modules to auto shut off. They work GREAT. So I did some testing with it and what it does is if it doesn’t detect motion for 60 seconds, it turns off. It auto turns on one you return to the car. Super simple module but well worth it

Then you don’t have to use it. I’m sure another improved version might come out in the future.

Yes, it will work on your Tesla standard, but just know that they recently stopped giving out that bottom plug and now only comes with a cigarette adapter and USB cable. Someone has mentioned that it does turn off on its own even with those plugs. I still love these lights. It looks really nice in my Tesla.

I was told by someone that they updated the cigarette lighter and that it turns off by itself. Otherwise contact them and see if you can get the bottom connector. Wonder why they did that.

It happened to me as well. I just recently order lights but it doesn’t come with connector which shown in video. It only comes with cigarette charger and USB. So does this option turn on or off automatically? Have anyone using that way?

I wish they still offered the plug inside the rear of the a/c vent as a power source option. Will the usb power source turn the lights on and off with the vehicle?
Also wish they offered the lighting for the center console for the 2020 model 3.
That’s strange they took that out so recently. They did say it turns off on its own through usb connection so it should be good to go. Be sure to buy a cigarette lighter adapter with usb connection so you can put it in the center armrest console area. This strip won’t fit into the center console? Maybe you can stick it with double side take instead of shoving it into the little opening.

Lately they have been sending it out without the dongle and just usb and cigarette adapter. Someone mentioned in the comment that it didn’t automatically turn off while other comment said it did.

It will turn off later when your Tesla completely shuts off. It comes back on when your Tesla wakes up or when you come to your car. It also takes only a fraction of your battery so don’t worry about it also.

Tbh, this looks better than the Model 3 Highland ambient lighting.
I like it better too. Highland has the upper hand since their led light wraps around to the side of the car

Will sentry keep these lights on?
Yes. When sentry turns on the light turns on. Which is cool cause it lets the person outside your car know your car is now on and will collect their credit card number and identity 😝

Just bought this and received it today. However it only came with the USB and Cigarette charger. Not the direct plug under the rear air vent.
I don’t know why they took that out. I was told that those plugs will automatically turn off when car turns off after 10 minutes or so when you leave your car. I say use the cigarette plug for convenience. Easier to plug in anyways.

mine turns on and off itself using 12v power adapter.
I actually haven’t even texted that out and I just guessed you would have to manually do it but that’s so cool that you will automatically do it with a 12 V. Thank you for sharing that.

It’s really not that difficult so I made it vague. It’s a sticker. You just stick it wherever you want to. Some stick it between the dashboard board on that little gap.

Just got it yesterday using your referral code. It did NOT come with the rear installation kit. I have tested with the cigarette lighter, the light is still on after 20 minutes after leaving the car. Extremely disappointed
Hmm I was told that it eventually turns off when Tesla is fully asleep. Times are random. Leave it in there little longer and see if it eventually turns off. Someone in the comment said it turned off eventually with the cigarette plug.
To have it fully asleep, you have to turn off the sentry mode. That means if we go out, the lights stay on (or turn off sentry mode), which is pretty dangerous in either way
I would buy it if it would go from side to side.
They sell the side to side but you have to take out the door panel and it’s a little more difficult to install instead of this simple install. I wanted the side to light up too.
Ordered their dash and center console lights based on this video review. Very not happy with product. Received products few days ago. I tested the lights before install. Found out one of the center console light strip is not working. Also the 60s light module sensor was not included in the package. Poor quality control. I would suggest save your hard earn money and buy somewhere else...
Oh no. Mine came in working without a problem. That's not good a simple LED light isn't working. Be sure to have that company send you a working one. i still have mine and it's been working without a problem.
Just purchased this from EVBase and disappointed to learn that they no longer send the rear power plug. Although your videos state that and so does their website but on enquiry been told that the product has been updated and no longer required. Not a great first purchase experience
That sucks. I just got this. But you know what, just plug into the cigarette lighter. Apparently since it’s update, the light will turn off when plugged into the 12v cigarette lighter making it even easier to install. Strange how they made that change so quick but either way you’ll get an awesome light.

Now it only comes with one strip not even long enough for the entire dash. Definitely not worth $65
As you can see in my video you can tape it right in the middle and you’ll have maybe about 4 inches out from both ends. If you start all the way from the end then you’ll end up stopping 8 inches away so start from the middle and out or give about 4 inches space then start taking it from the end.
Great video, But EVbase takes forever to ship and horrible answering emails, I know they Asia base and time ones are different, but I will never buy from them again

It’s definitely a personal preference. Some love it barely empty but some loves to have bunch of cool gadgets inside their cars. I like both.
