- Let's talk about interior lighting for the Tesla Model Y...or should I say "the lack of" interior lighting. I've been searching for months to find the right lighting kit that feels OEM and isn't too over the top. I think this setup from EV Base really hits the mark.
Let's talk about this two part lighting kit, the simple install, and the subtle but high-end effect.
UPDATE EVBase will include a FREE autoshut off module with every each lighting kit purchase WHEN YOU USE MY DISCOUNT CODE.

Hi. Thanks for the video. My question is did you have to buy two sets of the roof lights or does one set come with both the left and right side streamer lights? Thank you!
Installed the dashboard led with the 60s module but the lights still turn on when you approach the car and don’t turn off after a few minutes. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
Do you know how can connect the shutoff module to the lights? Where do you connect the imput and output?
can you have a screen shade as well as the lights for the roof?
are you able to cancel the start up procedure with the rainbow mode?
Where does the dash cable hang out from? Is it super noticeable?
Can you provide the link to buy the auto shut off module?
You didn’t hard wire yours, but if you do is there a way to connect it so that it turns on and off when the headlights/nightmode(when the ambient lighting is on) are active?
Subscribed 👍
How do you install the startup setup?
Where do you install the module?
Thanks for the review! where did you get the 12v converter power source?
Just something from Amazon. You can search for 12v hub for cars
Tou’re a totally underrated presenter and enjoyed this content very much. With you class and style you’ed earned a sub - I’m a owner of a model 3P2019 and the lacking of ambient light is just spot on. Please continue on this path 👍🏻
Thank you. When adding the 2 sided tape to the roof top strips, do you have the tape sticking to the glass part of the roof or the silver fabric/plastic liner? If you stick it to the glass, do you see it from outside looking down on glass roof?
Sticks to the glass part. The tape is more of a transparent gel like tape. Hard to see through the roof. Even with the lights on - not a lot of light bleeding.
I hope Tesla adds the Rainbow effect to the new cars.
I just completed install of dashboard and sunroof light. Everything looks great and shutoff module works on one but not the other. Trying to sort that out. Meanwhile I’ve dimmed the sunroof light I’d say 35%. But the recessed dashboard light I want at 75%. Is there a way to control these separately ? I’m using the magic lantern app but each time I control one the other one matches. Thanks.
I think you set the colour and brightness then click on the app top left and unlink the device. Change the one that's still connected so effectively you can have roof one colour and brightness and then the dashboard a different colour and brightness.
Since theres 2 controller boxes do you have to change roof and dash colors separately or do they pair and change colors together while you're picking? thanks!
Hey. Nope. The app controls all of them together. But it also means you can change them individually. They sync up as one lighting set up.
So I got the auto shutoff module and connected to the 12v in the back trunk but the sunroof light still not turn off. Do you know why?
Same thing happened to me. I had to move the module higher up and it worked but I can’t leave the module where it is.
What’s the Name of the App PLEASE
Code is not working
My led for the glass roof is all installed but looks ugly as I don't know how to fish the wires through the conduit of the glass roof. Any idea or links online on how to run the wires neatly through?
The kit should have come with a long plastic wire you can tape the black wires too and then pull it through the headliner to the back. Run the wires underneath the weather seal into the trunk.
Just about to install the sunroof. But how do you get the wires to the trunk. The connectors are big to route through. Any hints?
Through the back of the ceiling. Just gotta use force she pull it down. Then on the opposite side. Same thing. Pop the cover down
Do both pieces (the sunroof streamers) have two 12v connectors or is it just connected together in one?
1
please how did you made the installation? cabels to the trunk? thanks
Hey. Yes - you will need to snake the wires through the headboard and into the trunk area. Then use the rubber seal along the side to hide the cables.
Think this is a no, but are you able to cancel the start up procedure with the rainbow mode?
Yeah. Unfortunately no way that I know of.
Looks good but I struggle with all the visible wires plugged in.

When you install the ceiling lights, does it interfere with your ceiling sunshades when trying to install those clips onto the side?
Nope. No interference at all with my sunshades
@@ItsDesmond Thank you. I'm going to place my order!
Does the dash light cause a reflection on the windshield at night?
yes it does unfortunately but its not that distracting
Nice.🍎🌟🦚
It doesn’t impede with the ac airflow?
Ya same doubt.
Got my led lighs, dash and roof with the 2 sensors. Where do you mount the sensors please. Bit confused, the 12v cig lighter won't work with the USB sensor?
Shall I just plug the led dash into the center console via USB with the sensor and then how do the roof ones fit in the 12v outlet in the boot as the sensor is USB male to female and doesn't connect to the 12v car cigarette lighter. I don't want to touch the cars wiring for obvious reasons Help pls
Hey! So I just plug the control box into the cable and use 12v adapter. But you can use USB as well. I have one of those 12V hubs that adds extra ports. For the roof lights - run it all the way to the back and through the head board into the trunk. There is a hidden 12v plug back there! I use a 12v splitter to just connect it all.
Thanks for reply top man! How does the sensor work hidden in the center console? Surely it needs to see you as I presume it's some kind of proximity sensor as it doesn't work with ambient light. Also if I use the cig lighter in the boot where do I put the proximity sensor. I was thinking of somehow routing the roof to the center as its got 3 fly leads to plug all 3 in and then if all else fails just turn them odd and on with the red button but are the cables long enough. Pity the light don't change like the merc ,gently changing from one to another ie all red then red/orange , orange then orange/ yellow, green etc thanks again
@@therandomperson6354 hey - not a proximity sensor. It reacts to the Tesla - so powers on with the Tesla when you get close. And the module is a timer that turns off all the lights after about 60 seconds after you leave the car - just like how the OEM interior lights turn off. It's all tied to the Tesla's control.
That's great thanks I'm asking this as I'm waiting for my tesla to arrive and have bought this kits in advanced. Did you attach a modual to the dash board lights in the center compartment and one on the roof lights in the boot? I've got them plugged on in my kitchen and it doesn't turn off after 60 sec it sometimes does and other times it just stays on but guessing it's because it's not installed in the car?
How much do mechanics charge to get the wiring done neatly?
No mechanic needed. All DIY. Very easy
Will these work on a 2021 model 3 SR+ or only the dual motor models that have the ambient light button?
This will work on the 2021 Model Y. It’s design for the full length sunroof vs the two panel model 3s. I would check out the EV Basee website for the model 3 version.
My greatest concern is how iit turns on and off. So it saying you just plugged it into the 12 volt chargers and they both turn on and off with the car?
Is there some way to make it turn off when you lock the vehicle and it's In park?
Yes - with the auto shut off module - they turn off when the car is locked. Usually after 1 minute - it’s timed with the OEM interior lights of the model y. So I’ve really enjoyed how that works now. Very intuitive timing for on and off.
I went to evbase site, I didn’t see the auto shut off module? Where can I find it on the site?
+1 on the above comment. I tried their customer support too. They don't seem to have any clue about the auto shut off module.
could not find auto shut off module ?
@@chuchenlou8820 EVBase is going to include a FREE module with each purchase!
It would be nice if it outlined the entire roof opening instead of just the sides
You did not show how to install these...
Not an install video. Just a review.
it's a shame that the dashboard lights aren't spanning the entire dashboard length.
That’s the main issue
fail... next
