There are a lot of great questions here. Please do an update video about scan tools and laptops. It would be nice to know where you’ve landed since the last 2 years. Thank you.
My old job had the Snap on Prolink Ultra, there were a lot of missing bi directional functions across a lot of platforms and more often than not the test that were present were not supported by the ECM. Id never spend money on anything but OE software personally.
SnapOn is not dedicated to the truck side of diagnostic. Texa and Jaltest are dedicated. What they sell they stand by. I use jaltest and Texa and Autel CV. These 3 get me 99% jobs done. Jobs like ECU programming are better to send to the dealer to program. Texa for American trucks. Jaltest for European and Japanese. Autel CV for Japanese coding and writing, and back door entry for speed unlocking, and immobilizer turn off when doing ECU swap to test.
Thanks I've been considering the otr but haven't heard many reviews on it. Your reviews is about where I'm out starting out as mobile from many years of working in shops
I've got 3 trucks. I have the otr in 2 of them. The driver can plug it in and then tell me what's going on. Then I can make an informed decision. I keep insite with nexiq 3 adapter in my truck. I like that the otr system is simple and the driver doesn't have to have a degree to run it.
Hey I just purchased the pro link edge and it has done so much more for me in the first day then my diesel laptop cojali has for me I’m just curious have you ever tried the pro link on off road equipment? I’m debating on getting rid of my laptop but just not sure if the pro link will work on my equipment but at this point the cojali is a waste of money it has never worked for me it’s super hard to use always needs an update every time I want to use it just curious your thoughts thank you
I did have prolink ultra from snap on master . But unfortunately my truck burned and I lost everything. I just got yesterday o ly the tablet and 9 and 6 pin cord also the obd2 . I will transparent all the software. I love snap on really easy to work with
Thank you. i own a CT660 also have ag equipment and construction equipment and diesel pickups. looking at getting a diesel laptop system. its only system i've found thats an all in one with caterpillar trucks. any advice on other systems or if diesel laptops is a good way to go or not?
Good content. I work in a fleet that uses strictly OEM systems (vmack tech tool, Cummins insite, Alison doc) good to know there are some options for techs to get more versatile equipment. We also have jpro for any misc stuff we have. I find jpro borderline useless to the OEM but come in hand a few times and seems to be getting better as they update it
I have a 2017 T680 with ISX and I use Insite, but you can't use it to admin the Bendix system or the cab controller. I was thinking about looking at getting JPro instead, but the jpro sales people never contacted me back.
What your recommendation on a shop only working on medium duty? I have a zuse for light/medium truck but starting to get more cummins 3126 c7 and dt466 in
just ordered the otr unit. thanks for the code, total was $700 with code. thanks for putting out good videos. question, is landstar load board any different from spot market. Owner op vs landstar?
Stay as far away from that pos as you can the shop I work in bought both and they a huge waste of money the hand held don’t work at all the texa program is very difficult to use won’t diagnose hardly anything it’s very generic
Could you please make a video showing the software programs in the prolink edge? I am very interested in one but cannot find and pictures or video of that
What do you recommend for a 1 truck Owner Operator with a 2013 Mack MP8/mdrive with access to bidirectional control? Do you have any experience with Autel?
Would u reco.w d for a fleet tech im interested in hetting it id only need like mack volvo allison and a couple of the add ons with the tool alone like 4500 seems worth it for time and function does it handle soot resets forced regen amd pid for pressire temp ect.
I'm looking at getting the pro link edge. I have one try out to see if I'm interested in it. I was wondering how to enable the engine braking with the cruise control turned on. The truck that I'm working on is a 2019 Kenworth t880 with a Cummins x15 engine. Do you have any ideas?
What about the OTR reset tool instead of the diag tool. Have a cummins isx15 and want to be able to clear codes and to force Regens. Think this would be enough and work well with the isx15
Can the OTR change speed limits on truck. Cruise is set to 68. When I go into Canada I have schedule a shop we use to lower to 65. Loosing time. I would like to adjust my self going over and coming back. Also once in Texas I have to bump it to not get killed. Lol. What can you recommend? I have a 2022 Pete with Paccar MX13. Thank you
Hey Ryan, Thank you for posting this video. I found it very helpful. Can you tell me if the Snap-On tool gives you updates even though there’s no annual license? Also, do you have an opinion (or review) on Noregon’s JPRO software and adapters? We’re looking for something that might handle Mack, Paccar, Ford and Komatsu. Great content! Thank you.
Any chance you can do a demo of the pro link hooked up to a say cascadia with a DD? Looking to see it’s capabilities vs the oem DL8 which i use everyday day at work
Thanks for the video. Got Insite through Cummins. Much cheaper than everywhere else online. Took less than a week for me to get it and they answered questions I emailed them promptly.
@@Josiah_Harder Yes. I bought a data link from eBay for about three hundred plus the cost of insite (can't remember how much that was). I believe Cummins sells data links too, but there are cheaper options elsewhere.
Great video! Question Do you recommend Snap-on Edge for cummins as well, and have you used it? My Dealer is offering a deal on my trade in of Nexiq iq. It's great for Detroit but doesn't have the update for cummins years 2014 and up.
Will the snap on do force regen on Cummins 6.7 and will it calibrate 6.7 Cummins turbo after install I work on primarily school buses and our 6.7 eat turbos

You pay for it one time only, not yearly. You can get the master which is cheaper than buying all licenses individually, or get the basic and just license what you will use, say just Cummins and Allison and save some money.
Jaltest is a lifetime license with optional updates. Why did you say it had a subscription fee? Also if you buy Cummins Insite through a certified dealer, it takes max 2 days. Who did you buy from to make it take 6 weeks? A lot of information on this video is inaccurate.
Thank you for making this video. It is an excellent, no bs explanation and right to point and prices included. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm subscribing to your channel.
the snap on is not a one time pay you have to renew each of them licenses subscriptions every year and it totals almost 3k per year and you do not get off highway or agricultural where with the Jal test and Texa you get far more for your buck and more coverage and function than the Snap on and the Texa is the closest to OEM software you will ever get but if you want a unit Like the Snap on get the Bosch ESI as you will get OEM as Bosch Makes 90% of the actual oem tools and writes the software for 90% of the Equipment out there And NEXQ does not write any software they just make an interface all the software is written by Bosch and Dynamic programing (deplph) as they make 90% of the ECU ECM and computer modules and the Bosch they also have off highway and Agricultural and a full windows tablet not a CE tablet
I’ve never owned any heavy duty scanner or software. I’ve owned my own light duty diesel shop for 20 years and I’ve only used snap on scanners. What would you recommend for someone just getting into the medium/heavy diesel repair side?
What a waste of money for $1500 bucks you can get a laptop or table load with OEM software hey don’t get me wrong I love snap on but not worth the money
