It seems like after 2020, Bryce has stabilized his skill set. He's got another MVP, an NLCS MVP, and he nearly drug a team to the playoffs last year all by himself. Bryce Harper in the second half of 2021 was similar to what Aaron Judge did for the Yankees in the second half of this year. His injury this year is the best thing ever for the Phillies. It allowed him to come back for just long enough to knock the rust off, then lock him fully in when playoffs came. I am so glad that the Phillies got enough help for him this year, so they didn't need him full time to make the Playoffs. It has allowed us to witness a man going BEAST MODE!!!! It's not the 5 HR he's hit, or the doubles, or all the walks he is drawing... It's the damn timing. He is doing all this in very high leverage situations. That HR he first hit, tied the game. The second HR of the series won the damn game. He scored tying runs, winning runs on the basepaths, ect. It's reminding people of why he's the reigning MVP. In 2021 it wasn't that he hit like 30 doubles and 20 HR in the second half that was impressive, it was that over half of them came with his team trailing or tied to give his team the lead.

I'm from 2021. Bryce Harper is hitting like a god again, its not to his 2015 season, but more like his 2017 season if he stayed healthy. I just love myself some Bryce Harper, hes my favorite non-Red Sox player.
Harper's amazing 2015 proved what all the hype was for and cemented him as one of the most talented players in the game. At age 22 it seemed like the best was yet to come, so even though his numbers were still strong, even really good in 2017, it just felt like a huge letdown overall.
I’d love to see a video on Jeter and how for most of his career, his defense was overrated (I think he won a gold glove with a negative dWAR) and his offense was underrated
I can't believe I made it in your video! The white Red Sox jersey at 5:23! I always enjoy your videos, but this one will have a special place in my heart haha.
And good for him too, because he hasn't been nearly the same player since. He's been decently productive when he's played, but injuries have wrecked these last few seasons. He'll get his plaque without any hassle five years after he retires.
I've been saying this. I'm a Phillies fan, and when I heard about the contract I was very wary. Obviously he started out slow last year, probably bc he was a late arrival to spring training, but watching him bust his ass every day on the field gave me a ton of respect for what the guy does.
Awesome vid as always FBB! This is the type of vid we love, I know you were sad the other day on twitter because the MLBPA/Commish dont seem to be as enthusiastic about baseball as you are but this video is the reason I'm here and they dont matter! PS: THE MLB IS FINE, TREVOR BAUER SAYS BASEBALL WILL ALWAYS BE THERE. REMAIN HOPEFUL!
Love your videos!! Watch them EVERYDAY while working!! Very informative content!!! Would love to see more videos on the Braves!! In particular Ronald Acuna Jr, Gary Sheffield and the elite run that the Braves are currently on for the 2023 season!! I pride myself on being the biggest Braves fan on the planet and absolutely love watching content on the Braves and baseball in general. Thanksand as always....... GO BRAVES!!!
Watching this after Harper has just won the NLCS MVP with a bottom of the eighth go-ahead home run (the biggest he’s ever hit, 1 of 5 he’s nuked in the post season so far) to take the Phillies to the World Series is kinda insane. Borderline prophetic analysis 👍🏻
I love that he made this video the season before Bryce became MVP again! And since that 2nd MVP season Bryce turned into a playoff beast. The thing about Harper from 2021-23 is that like 1/2 of his RBI came with his team down to either tie the game or give the Phillies the lead. And it got even better in the playoffs. The last 2 post seasons Harper had gone buck ass wild!
Really just took a great postseason run for fans to realize he's really good. Which sucks cause anybody can have a great run in the postseason, but only the best of the best win multiple MVPs, which Harper already proved he was. The people that value "clutch" or "shows up when it matters most" are the worst talent evaluators, and it seems to be most
He basically did something that happens in every sport. So many people started to think he was overrated that nobody seems to rate him at all which brings you to actually being underrated.
As a Vegas native and someone who actually got to watch Harper play in high school, this video reaffirmed one thing for me: Foolish Baseball’s king status since he pronounced “Nevada” correctly, like how the locals pronounce it.
I remember when Trout and Harper's careers were first starting, thinking that Harper was gonna be the better player than Trout. Oh how wrong I was lol. He's still very good though
I have always been a nats fan, and Harper was my favorite player up until last year, he had the most entertaining season I’ve ever seen and it’s a shame we didn’t get him or scherzer to the playoffs that year. He’s always put up numbers anytime even in the postseason but we were never able to get over the hump with him. He’s a fun player and I wish him the best(especially since we just got a ring without him)
Thank you for addressing that whole contract situation. Annoys the heck out of me every time someone shouts out 330 million dollar man, but can't be bothered to remember thats because of how young he was at the time of his free agency.
Good stuff. Would be great to see a supplemental breakdown of what happened to Harper after his 2016 month of April-- after he took home Player of the Month, and fresh off of his 2015 MVP season. For fans, it seems like things started to go down hill after a particular series in the Windy City. Did Joe Maddon and the Cubs break Bryce Harper? (EDITED: corrected spelling.)
It blows me away how little respect he gets. He gets on base so much it’s incredible. The fact that he can hit 35+ homers an still hit 300 while walking 20% of the time. I think the only guy that is on his level at the plate is Soto who might be the best hitter playing.
I've been a huge Bryce Harper fan since he came into the league and I've been ridiculed for my fandom, and I thank you for this video for giving me the vindication to continue my fandom for the man.
All I know is I would be very concerned about having that contract on my books when he's pulling upper 800s OPS...he's good, but that could easily become an anchor around your neck with multiple years left on the deal
dc07932 I agree, he is overrated, at least compared to how many think of him, as he was wildly lucky in 2015 and lucky in 2017, based on his underlying peripherals of way outperforming his xOPS and xWOBA (specifically in 2015). By FG, he has only been All-Star caliber in three seasons (5+ fWAR, and I’m counting his 2013 and 2017 years as he was injured). His defense is below-average by UZR and the defensive spectrum even taking out his 2018 season. He has had two seasons with a wRC+ above 140. He has underperformed his peripherals these past couple seasons, so he may be due for some positive regression, but don’t expect a guy who will put up consistent .950+ OPS and 145 wRC+ figures. He’s just not that type of hitter.
Another banger Bailey! I loved the balance between comedy and stats! Really starting to miss and think about baseball right now. I have been watching a ton of twitch to fill my time, wishing I could be watching or listening to some baseball games now.

I'm from 2021. Bryce Harper is hitting like a god again, its not to his 2015 season, but more like his 2017 season if he stayed healthy. I just love myself some Bryce Harper, hes my favorite non-Red Sox player.
December now. 2021 NL MVP
Well the breakout is now and it is awesome. Foolish nailed it!
Rip to all the previous comments
Hello Mr. Baseball. This video is aging well! I believe a congratulations is in order. Congratulations!
Harper's amazing 2015 proved what all the hype was for and cemented him as one of the most talented players in the game. At age 22 it seemed like the best was yet to come, so even though his numbers were still strong, even really good in 2017, it just felt like a huge letdown overall.
Hmmmmmmmmm
11:44 Goldschmidt again...the guy is soo good...and nobody talks about him...
The real underrated one on the league.
I’d love to see a video on Jeter and how for most of his career, his defense was overrated (I think he won a gold glove with a negative dWAR) and his offense was underrated
I can't believe I made it in your video! The white Red Sox jersey at 5:23! I always enjoy your videos, but this one will have a special place in my heart haha.
crazy that mike trout had an entire hall of fame career from 2012-2020
And good for him too, because he hasn't been nearly the same player since.
"The Los Angeles California Angels of Anaheim"
I’m going to say that Harper is going to win mvp this season. Foolish has a knack for predicting these sort of things. We will see in 2 months.
HES BREAKING OUT AGAIN BOYS!
And he’s only 29, he’s gonna do it like 2-3 more times at least
"The baseball is normal and fine" -Foolish Baseball
You heard it here first folks
Pretty cool how everything in the video comes to fruition again in 2021
This aged like a fine wine.
Sometimes I come back to this video to see how right Foolish Baseball was about Bryce Harper
I love this series!
Glad to hear it!
As a Vegas native and someone who actually got to watch Harper play in high school, this video reaffirmed one thing for me:
Foolish Baseball’s king status since he pronounced “Nevada” correctly, like how the locals pronounce it.
🤡
As a jays fan I kinda want a vid about our 2015 and 2016 teams. Man those were great teams, we definitely coulda won it all.
Nah need a video about my 2015 royals
One of the best teams not to win it all in recent memory. Such a fun team to watch
probably one of the most underrated channels on youtube fr
I remember when Trout and Harper's careers were first starting, thinking that Harper was gonna be the better player than Trout. Oh how wrong I was lol. He's still very good though
Harper didn't have the benefit of talking hitting with Albert Pujols every day.
Felix Marvin you’re acting like pujols is the hitting coach
I think Harper could be as good as Trout. Harper is a head case though.
the quality of these is insanely good
There’s something amusing seeing how fans treat Harper like the devil to contrast Trout being baseballs lord and saviour Jesus.
Even though play style wise they are extremely similar
Harper has somewhat reluctantly been a good villain
Harper is an asshole on the field. Seems like a nice guy off the field but that isn’t what most fans see
Is there something amusing about it? Guess you had to be there.
Us Phillies fans adore him, probably because he’s an intense dude. And he seems to like the city too, which is a huge plus for Philadelphians.
He’s a fun player and I wish him the best(especially since we just got a ring without him)
As a baseball fan, I understood that the 300m he was being paid would be a fraction of his jersey/ticket sales. Most did not.
Love the soundtrack. Reminiscent of yoshi's island (the beginning at least). Great vid as usual broman
well this is ageing well
Thank you for addressing that whole contract situation. Annoys the heck out of me every time someone shouts out 330 million dollar man, but can't be bothered to remember thats because of how young he was at the time of his free agency.
whos watching as harper is a mvp frontrunner
Shout out to MLB for shouting you out, I'm glad I've found your channel!!
This aged very very well
Every year this video gets better and better
This is perfection.
I've been a huge Bryce Harper fan since he came into the league and I've been ridiculed for my fandom, and I thank you for this video for giving me the vindication to continue my fandom for the man.
This video aged well.
Thank you Foolish for some more awesome content
you're welcome!
All I know is I would be very concerned about having that contract on my books when he's pulling upper 800s OPS...he's good, but that could easily become an anchor around your neck with multiple years left on the deal
Ratio ratio ratio
Three seasons later he's been consistently great. He and Altuve are my current favorites. Love their gritty games .
So glad this shows how good Harper is and that he isn’t overrated
He’s overrated
dc07932 I agree, he is overrated, at least compared to how many think of him, as he was wildly lucky in 2015 and lucky in 2017, based on his underlying peripherals of way outperforming his xOPS and xWOBA (specifically in 2015).
For his contract he is overrated
He gets paid far too much money for how barely above average he is now.
Was good*
Another banger Bailey! I loved the balance between comedy and stats! Really starting to miss and think about baseball right now. I have been watching a ton of twitch to fill my time, wishing I could be watching or listening to some baseball games now.
You should do a vid on the most underrated hitter of the 90s, Albert Belle!
EDIT: should read most forgotten not underrated
Underrated by who? The sportswriters who held grudges? Baseball fans knew how well he could hit.
@@vindog2461 Maybe forgotten is a better word. Definitely underrated (or screwed) by BBWAA Should have won at least 1 MVP, arguably 2 or even 3. Only on the hall of fame ballot 2x I believe. But yeah, forgotten is a better word, because nearly everybody did not want to face him with the game on the line from 93-99, so he was adequately respected/rated. IMO Top 10 hitter of the 90s, Top 25 hitter of the last 30 years which should be enough for HoF. No denying that he was a huge prick though!
@@drewmartin9148 He made his utter disdain for sportswriters very clear, so they held it against him in the voting
Maybe that's the topic he should cover. How the writers were haters
Indians fan chiming in to say that the '95 team was what made me a sports fan and i will always insist that Albert should've been the MVP that year. First player in history to hit 50 homers & 50 doubles...and in a *shortened season* no less!
Foolish Baseball is doing more for the game than the MLB itself.
I’m not hating on Harper now, he’s a great player, but imagine if he kept going after 2015 and we could’ve had so many debates about who’s the best player in baseball
@Blake O'Boyle no doubt
If he hit a 200 OPS+ for the next 5 years he’d be next to Bonds and Ruth as the best hitters
November 18th, 2021 - He just won his 2nd MVP award.
This video aged like Justin Verlander
Great vid, I'm a phillies fan and feel harper perfectly fits the city and we better win a ws with him
