there are a LOT of baseball “video essays” out there on youtube that maybe aren’t plagiarized, and maybe aren’t written by AI, but they sure feel like that “background slop” designed not to hold your attention but to siphon ad revenue from the viewer. it’s HARD to make videos as good as the ones you make, bailey-that foolish baseball guy sure could do to take some notes from you
It can be hard to draw the line between "AI-generated/assisted background slop" and "minimal effort human-generated background slop", and that line is of course getting blurred more and more every day as people who created the latter start making the former. It really sucks how the video essay format, which used to be home to some of the most creative and well-researched thought-provoking videos on this platform is now just a synonym for "long videos where someone reads information to you in an authoritative tone of voice". Feels like the "essay" part of "video essay" got lost along the way, or else the experience these creators have with writing essays begins and ends with high school essays written in a single day and finished minutes before the deadline.

There has definitely been a scourge of AI-assisted video essay slop, about baseball, in the past year or so. They end up like book reports and you can usually tell within the first 30 seconds or so.
It’s not just baseball of course.. I recently came across a whole fake AI channel full of poorly made videos with fake crime stories where every single thing was fake. It’s truly disgusting.

Ask ChatGPT to restate it 9. Do a cursory pass to reinsert stats or acronyms that ChatGPT may have messed up 10. run it through an AI voice and post it to RUclips

So they could technically be telling the truth, they could've clicked on the video, paused within the first few seconds of the video, viewed the transcript, then copy and pasted the transcript into chatgpt. Technically not watching the video, but if this is what they did, it's honestly way worse

I find the video saying he's a great pitcher while showing him striking out and saying he hit a homer and was dominant against a team while showing a homer vs a completely different team a bit funny even if it was unintentional. It'd kinda be like showing highlights of a pitchers best season then as they're saying his stats it shows highlights of the pitcher giving up like 5 runs before the 4th inning of a game

I was just about to start making video and had a whole script until I randomly came across your video and half of my jokes I came up with were similar to yours. If this was the channel I think it was, I warned him over a year ago that he was copying you. Even his profile photo was a dupe of yours. All he did was change his profile photo when i called him out.
