I love that Locastro literally doesn’t move when he sees a ball about to hit him. Most players try to move out of the way, or protect themselves. Tim just lets it happen.
Because those balls hurt when thrown by professional pitchers lol, especially if they hit a fleshy bit. That Locastro ran that fast after getting pegged in the thigh or leg so often was pretty amazing.
Tim Locastro was my brother in law’s college roommate. They are still very close , they hung out this past weekend and he is one of the most humble guys you’ll ever meet. Love this video
The way video games mechanics work, it may take a Jordan Hicks fastball to Yadier Molina to even make it possible to throw him out, unless you do something stupid like leave too soon, fail to take a leadoff, or try to steal home.
I was idly watching an 'overturned calls' supercut and noticed about 98% of them were at 1st. This got me thinking about all those past players that never got a chance to challenge. All of a sudden, i realised the challenge has completely, fundamentally changed the game. All those home calls, blown calls, famously flat out wrong decisions from history are all gone! And this vid is right, you are gonna see a lot more of these Lomachnko guys over the next few years because of the challenge. Good times for stolen bases and small ball.
TimmyLo is such a solid ballplayer too. He doesn't make stupid mistakes and he can play almost anywhere. He's just a smart guy with a lot of guts and it's good to be a Diamondbacks fan with him on the team.
When you said learned how to steal first my mind came up with him intentionally swinging at balls in the dirt and swinging and then running before it’s even in the catchers mit😂
I actually did that once in little league. It was my proudest moment. I couldn’t hit for shit, and the pitcher was really fast, so when he put a ball in the dirt and wide, I just waved my bat and bolted. I was safe too.
Well done. I love how the pitch speed looks like HP damage points. Also saw Johnny Ray steal 1st on a dropped strike out, then steal every base including home to score. He was playing for the Angels at the time.
You take my like. You put it in a lockbox. 20 years from now when you're feeling down, you open that box, and boom. Instant love. You earned it, big guy.
I love seeing him successfully reach base on chops. I can't tell if it's an intentional strategy of his or not, but using chops has been something that I've wanted to see more speedsters try to use to get on base.
@@FoolishBaseball Really good stuff. MLB should hire you, would really help fans appreciate the skill sets of players more. You've got yourself a new sub.
I’m a Giants time so I’ve watched him a fair bit and I love his game! It’s so cool to watch a role player like this do what ever it takes to get on base!

I'm way late, but this reminded me of my personal favorite weird player season - 1993 Lance Blankenship, for the Oakland A's. Over 300 plate appearances, hits .190, with a .363 OBP. Way more walks than hits, 67 to 48. Strangely enough, he also strikes out 64 times, which is a lot for 328 PA's by a non-power hitter, and calls into question the plate discipline you'd assume he'd have, with more walks than hits. Oh, and he also played at least 2 games at every position that year (plus DH) except for P, C, and 3B, and was used as a pinch hitter and a pinch runner a number of times. [In his short career {1300 PA's,} he hit .222, slugged .299, with a .350 OBP.]
Love your videos! They have opened my eyes to a whole new way of looking at Baseball and reignited my passion for the game. Seriously I am totally obsessed with your channel it's really fantastic 👏

He finally got caught today, 4/17/2021. Nationals catcher Yan Gomes was asked how he felt about stopping Locastro’s run. “I kind of feel bad that I did,” he said with a smile.
Man, I remember watching him get on base in Double-A. The pitchers would pitch out and he was already on 2nd by the time the ball got into the catcher's mitt
