Tip. Do not tighten those bolts until all the weight of the truck it on them it can cause premature wear on the bushings and they aren't in the proper position they are normally when on the ground

    • @wadeparker5020

I disagree because there is nothing to compress. Shocks, yes, definitely wait until truck is on the ground but shackles don't compress

Nice, clean 1988! I had a 89 black Silverado for about 10 years that I miss a lot. I like the nose down rake so used 2" shackles in the rear and 2" drop Springs in the front (maintained factory alignment). American Racing Torq Thrust I I wheels (retirement present to myself). Stainless cat-back system. 350 v8 with ceramic coated Edelbrock Tri-Y headers. Matching Lear topper with dark smoked glass. Wish I had kept it, but good memories.
Fair winds and following seas to all.

I bought a brown and gold 89 in 90, I still regret trading that truck! I didn't like the unlevel stance either so all me and my friend did was take a leaf spring out (first one up from the bottom) it was level after that with no issues with hauling or towing.

Very good video. I bought my one owner SWB 112K mile 1998 Chevy C1500 W/T a couple of weeks ago. One of my first upgrades is to get the back of the truck level with the front. I bought the same shackles that you have. I was concerned about getting the top bolt out, but your plan was a good one. My truck may be a little more complicated as mine has a receiver hitch in the way. I will leave the bolts snug ( not tight) until the truck is on the ground and then tighten just a tad more. Did you have to get the truck frontend aligned again?

Rough country kit? 2"/4"? Drop spindle/ rear shackle & bracket with sport shocks? At least, it looks like you have that kit. I bought that kit for my truck. I am interested in seeing the finished project. I haven't started on mine. Right now, I'm finishing up the rust repairs to the cab. I have the bed off of the frame. Should be a lot easier to drop the suspension while the bed is off.

N.C Kayak King I will most likely go with a leaf spring flip kit , that will give another 4 inches to the rear drop.. unless I do air bags .. I can’t decide lol

To drop the bacc you can do a number of things. I think a good start is a flip kit(6in). From there you can add the shackles to get (1-2in) you can also get some drop hangers for (2in) you can also after you get a flip kit, you can use drop blocks (different sizes) you can even simply remove a single leaf (the drop will very... I have a 94 obs in the bacc I have a flip kit, drop shackles, and drop bloccs for a 10in drop. I would've gone more but I need a step notch, once I get that then I'ma go another 4-5 drop in the bacc

Jacks backing up jack stands is overkill for me but definitely doesn’t hurt anything. The Jack under the rear end is back up for the Jack stands as it will support the weight if the stands fail but again, nothing wrong with extra safety..
