Jim and Mick always bring the riffs. They have a distinct riff style. I don't know how to explain it but you know it's them in the first few seconds.

@@excisionsstepserum8336 Well they definitely use the 0-1-3-4-6 frets a lot. The riffs are more about impact than being intricate. For the most part. Hopefully that sort of explains it.

@@isaacbuell6360 it's definitely an amazing piece of music, it's crazy how they've grown so much as artists. sadly a lot of people just expect them to be their angsty young selves and make the same music they did back in the early 2000s 💀
@@dougwalkerjr3586 yeah exactly, they aren’t the same people as they were 20 years ago so obviously the music is gonna be different. They are growing as a band and as people and I think it’s good for them
someone got a head start ;) riffs sounds great! the album has grew on me, wish it wasn't as singy and chanty in some places.

I like that Slip just gave up with that shit of "we're doing another Iowa"
To be fair even the nine would have a hard time getting back up to Iowa level heavyness. I feel if they forced it it wouldn't come out perfectly
They are too far removed from that mind set. Art of that calibre needs unbridled aggression and true anguish to reach those heights. Chapter V came close in my opinion.
@@Mfn_Tagilla But they still can do this Iowa type music, but the "fans" just underestimate the song because of the album. I think The Negative One and Sarcastrophe are 2 exemples of this
@@rez6624 I agree that they're still able to do Iowa styled music, but I guess they're wanting to experiment a little so forcing them to do another Iowa would probably not pan out well. Thankfully we've still got some heavy songs on this album to keep ourselves occupied

Pleasantly surprised that your mix essentially packs more punch into these riffs and makes them soncially feel more energized than the mix on the record. I think this record needs more play time, I was still enjoying it, but it doesn't meet the benchmark of Slipknot.

Slipknot pretty much just plays in Drop B and Drop A. There's like one song in Drop G# from one of their older albums. Just listen to the lowest note on the song and tune accordingly.
@@2WheelsGood.01 Slipknot's tunings are standard, drop C#, drop B, and drop A but Finale was supposed to be in drop G. I've been playing it in A and, before I watched this video, it sounded like it was in B so I went searching for bass covers and all that

What about the riff after the solo in Acidic? It's one of my favourite Slipknot riffs ever, real shame it isn't a song of its own. I've been trying to find tabs for it for more than a year and still haven't succeded.

I heard that Mick has more impact on this album than Jim, Jim said that the album is not finished, you can hear that Mick has more impact on this album, riffs are so good and heavy, the only thing that I didn't like on this album is clean forced chorus like in Hivemind, The Dying Song, Warranty, Chapeltown Rag, I honestly didn't like too, clean chorus are fun but they don't belong in heavy songs

This album was weird. It’s like every song had some cool parts but they were over shadowed by extremely long boring intros and weird chanty parts. All the songs were also long, if they just took out all the unnecessary intros and some of the soft singing parts this would’ve been a better album. A lot of stuff just felt out of place and shoe horned in just for the sake of being experimental.

Not much riffs. Album was very disappointing. Only songs that are good are Dying Song, Hive Mind, and Yen

It’s sick! I listened to it during my study hall period yesterday
I had been up until midnight the night before, didn’t end up listening to it, and then chipped away at it while I was helping a friend of mine move.

What i don't like about slipknot's tuning is the guitars are tuned so low .It doesn't sound heavier.The lowest i think anyone should go is C tuning.Anyways cool video!
