The culling/editing must be a nightmare job, but every show is a gem. And, I’m always impressed by the ability of British people to just absorb personal shame and humiliation with such grace.
JLS trio meeting each other for the first time is easily top 5 hardest laughs I've had watching this show. And the fact that it kept becoming more and more awkward with each next line said was amazing
Lucy crawling out of the lab was the most sad thing I've ever seen. Thanks so much taskmaster for letting us enjoy this great series a day after UK release.
Who was most horrified when the team of three met? They pulled it together, though, in no time at all. And Sam's explanation of why had me laughing so hard!
I did not think this season was going to be as good as it is. This cast is AMAZING. I am so glad some of the "odd" bits that are often cut out (and uploaded here!) are being left, too. The "arms as legs" and "Are you a child of divorce?" lines had me in tears!
More media corps should allow their content to be shared like this. Wider audience, it can still be monetized, and it saves people from spending hours looking for full seasons uploaded to shady pirating websites - which I totally wasn't driven to do years ago.
I knew Lucy would be a little unhinged but I did not expect her to out-weird Sam. So grateful to have these available here in the US. As a new empty-nester, my friday nights just got a whole lot brighter!
I was surprised there hadn't been a reference to her being married to Jon Richardson yet...or that clearly she didn't talk to him beforehand for strategy tips
This is the greatest gesture of transatlantic goodwill in ages. So excited to be able to watch the show here with the (some of the) rest of international TM fandom!
Yeah, when Alex said they need to move on with the show, I thought it hadn't been that long but then we don't know how long it was in the studio. Hopefully a podcast episode will shed some light on it.
@@Didgeridoomen Yeah, hopefully. I know people have called for uncut episodes but I'd be really happy with just the uncut debates and discussions. Hearing them argue the definition of the task would be brilliantly funny.
Sue swearing several times in this episode is such an amusing juxtaposition with Mel back in Season 4 being the loveliest contestant HAHA I do hope the show makes a note (or maybe even a task) out of it in the next few episodes hehe Much love from the Philippines, thank you Taskmaster for these free-to-watch episodes! 💖
@@davidyoung5114Absolutely! The being confused about what the task was supposed to be, even WEEKS after doing it, is so on point. Now I can't unsee it!
Julian: Sarcasm as dry as toast. The no-emotion verbal assassin. Hilarious. Lucy: So open and willing to share, even if her logic makes me go "Huh?" Hilarious. (She provided my favorite moment in the episode: Her reaction when the team of 3 carried through on Sam's idea. I laughed out loud.) Sam: Wild card who will seemingly do anything. Hilarious. (His question to Greg was my second favorite moment of the episode.) Sue: Confident, laterally minded, calls out Alex. Hilarious. Susan: Self-deprecating and smart and enthusiastic. Hilarious. What a terrific first episode -- can't wait to watch ALL these contestants' hijinks!!
Could not agree more, another series where there's not a contestent I don't like. I prefer to hold my tongue about the ones that rubbed me the wrong way, but I'm so happy to love everyone in a series. Wonderful that Mel's cohost is in one of my love them all series.
In some ways, I don't know what to think. lol. I'm looking forward to getting to know Julian. He is very dry, but I have a feeling he will provide a lot of fun. They also like to try and cast types, and I think he's cast in the role of "old fart that doesn't care", but I'm not sure he'll not-care. lol. Lucy. OMG. First of all, I can see her working with Jon Richardson. But oh my goodness. She very clearly has not watched the show before going on it. And wow. What an incredible brain. I dont know what kind of brain, just that it is incredibly............... something. lol. She's going to be constantly wild. Sam: I feel a bit unsure about him. I can see there is, in fact, intelligence there, and he's put on a bit of a character. But I wonder a bit. I'm hoping to get to like him better as we go on. A bit unsure to start. I hope I have to eat these words, he does seem like he should be fun. Sue: Ah, Sue. The only one I really know. She lived absolutely up to my expectation on wit during this episode. She is going to be an absolute delight, and is already. Susan: Oh, I love her already. She's already a lot of fun and I cannot wait to see the messes she gets in. Delightful attitude. I have a tiny bit of trepidation about some of them, but I bet this is going to be a really great series.
This may be the most socially awkward cast of all 16 series. And I think Sam walking up to his prizes with no reaction other than just standing there is the epitome of that. I love it.
The TM House looks so beautiful this series!! Huge shoutout to the concept team and decorators. Also Sue and Susan's giddiness when they met for the team task brought a tear to my eye, they're so sweet... especially compared to the extreme awkward vibes of the team of 3 meeting, hilarious!!

If these five individuals were not all successful entertainers, based on this episode you would have to assume they are all barely functional goofballs, and that is my favorite type of Taskmaster contestant. What a delight to have five of them. I am very much impressed that Sue and Susan successfully completed their team task. Also amusing that a woman who hosted a charming baking show seems to have "groin" as a favorite word. I'm not sure who actively despised Alex more, Julian or Sue, but I love that they both do in hilariously different manners.

I like that Sue's clothes are very similar to Mel Gedroyc's clothes. Basically only the name on the costume is different. Also I love her instant reactions to Alex whenever he's done something sneaky. She calls him out for it and doesn't hold back.
But unlike Mel, Sue is not going for the Taskmaster's nicest contestant of all time and I am here for it!! I loved how much she called Alex on his shit.

As a US Citizen who has watched every episode of the original UK Taskmaster, I have to say I wasn't sure how entertaining this lineup would be no matter how much i anticipated this new episode and series. All my knowledge of famous UK people comes from watching 8oo10cdc and TM more than anything, not much to draw from, so I'm always up to be surprised. Mission accomplished! The intro is already just the right kind of deranged. And I like the color treatment and the Art Deco/Art Nouveau styling this season seems to have, good job as always, editors and set designers. Also Sue Perkins wearing a "Vote for Pedro" shirt is the single greatest wardrobe choice in the history of the show.

He has a very specific and out there character. He's my ride or die for this series and am incredibly pumped with his success in the first episode.
In that last stage task with Sam, he should have gotten the credit for saying they were the same. The difference was less than the margin of error of Alex's measuring system, where he placed objects atop the lever arm such that a few centimeters difference in position will change which side tips down when the weight was that close as we saw. There's a *reason* scales dangle the weighing trays from points in the lever arm and that's to ensure that no matter where you place the objects in the trays their weight will be applied to the lever arm at the position of the point it attaches to the lever, not the position of the weight within the tray.

The culling/editing must be a nightmare job, but every show is a gem. And, I’m always impressed by the ability of British people to just absorb personal shame and humiliation with such grace.
Sue's "I'M ADVANCING!" while blindfolded and walking like a fencer had me dying. I knew she'd be great on this series
I wanna be on what you're on
I think "what an absolute shower of shit you are" was the better line from her attempt and you best be believing I am stealing it
She's really going for the Morganna Robinson bonus point.@@sararausch7713
She was very unlucky in this episode. I still have her as the favorite to win.
Morgy 😮
I honestly think this was one of the best first episodes of Taskmaster ever. Genuinely laughed out loud.
Agree 100%!
Sue dropping the boot while maintaining furious eye contact with Alex was the highlight of episode 1 for me 😂
She swore at him about 4 times in the 1 episode. That's promising 😂
@@stevenlannister184Can't wait for the compilarion at the end of the series
I hope she calls him a different shit-centered name every single episode this series.
She probably has a solotask
She needs to call him a little fucker for a bonus point.@@stevenlannister184
JLS trio meeting each other for the first time is easily top 5 hardest laughs I've had watching this show. And the fact that it kept becoming more and more awkward with each next line said was amazing
Lucy crawling out of the lab was the most sad thing I've ever seen. Thanks so much taskmaster for letting us enjoy this great series a day after UK release.
It was up there with Bridget Christie banging a pot with a spoon while lying on the ground for "metaphors for the ennui of life".
Oh how I miss Bridget Christie.
And Joe begging for points on the ill-fated Potato Toss
Who was most horrified when the team of three met? They pulled it together, though, in no time at all. And Sam's explanation of why had me laughing so hard!
Absolutely the most awkward team meeting yet! I CANNOT wait to see these teams progress this season.
Ivo and Frankie eat your heart out
Where did you hear Sam's explanation of it? The TM podcast or somethin? I didn't see it in this episode.
@@J1M0TEEI think they meant his bit about “the divers who saved the boys. They were absolutely clinical about it”
It is in the episode, when he talks about the strengths of introverts, and gives the example of the men rescuing the boys from the cave. @@J1M0TEE
I did not think this season was going to be as good as it is. This cast is AMAZING. I am so glad some of the "odd" bits that are often cut out (and uploaded here!) are being left, too. The "arms as legs" and "Are you a child of divorce?" lines had me in tears!
I have feet! I'm not complaining!
There's probably still the same amount of cutting, the contestants are just this socially awkward lol 😂
The foot is just the hand of the leg
- Phil Wang
It would be a lot easier if my hands were my feet. - Katherine Parkinson
I'm really a huge fan of the energy Sam has brought to the studio
21:35 that was so cute how they asked permission to hug and then immediately went for it. Their body language says a lot and it's so sweet
@@stephaniegruenberg7044she’s married to what
She’s a Huck-a-Duck (or Hook-a-Dook) Champ.
@stephaniegruenberg7044 Honestly, I found it refreshing. They respect her in her own right 🙂
A little unhinged 😊😅😂
This is the greatest gesture of transatlantic goodwill in ages. So excited to be able to watch the show here with the (some of the) rest of international TM fandom!
Agree. It’s nice to finally be acknowledged. We’ve been in a one sided love affair with TM for far too long. ❤❤❤ lil Alex H and TM.
The US is not the only country that exists
How is this a transatlantic goodwill gesture? This isn't just for the USA?
Transcontinental goodwill too. I'm in Japan.
I’m in Russia and I’m so happy! 🎉
I need to see all the studio bits that were cut for time because there is no doubt some absolute gold where Greg tries to unpack everything Lucy said
Yeah, when Alex said they need to move on with the show, I thought it hadn't been that long but then we don't know how long it was in the studio. Hopefully a podcast episode will shed some light on it.
@@Elwaves2925 Usually they reveal a nice collection of outtakes after the season, so we'll see :)
@@Didgeridoomen Yeah, hopefully. I know people have called for uncut episodes but I'd be really happy with just the uncut debates and discussions. Hearing them argue the definition of the task would be brilliantly funny.
Sue swearing several times in this episode is such an amusing juxtaposition with Mel back in Season 4 being the loveliest contestant HAHA I do hope the show makes a note (or maybe even a task) out of it in the next few episodes hehe
Much love from the Philippines, thank you Taskmaster for these free-to-watch episodes! 💖
How has this show not gotten stale after 16 seasons? How do they keep nailing it?
I think changing the cast every season is a big part of the magic, since a lot of the humor depends on the contestants.
I'd say even more, it's getting better and better
right!?
Lucy Beaumont is UNHINGED and I love it.
Lucy makes me think that she's channeling Fern Brady from Series 14, don't you think?
@@davidyoung5114Absolutely! The being confused about what the task was supposed to be, even WEEKS after doing it, is so on point. Now I can't unsee it!
After they decided to cut their hair, while Julian was looking for scissors, Lucy says “We could use a saw”!!! lmao
Just the fact Lucy said she didn't attempt to bend any of the rules xs. Good luck Lucy!
I've noticed they always seem to have someone who's either up for anything, or confused about everything...or both, great casting each time!
I laughed out loud.)
Sam: Wild card who will seemingly do anything. Hilarious. (His question to Greg was my second favorite moment of the episode.)
Sue: Confident, laterally minded, calls out Alex.
Excellent analysis. So much to look forward to!
The outtakes are going to be an absolute hoot. This cast is hilarious.
I can't wait to find out how much more Sue swore at Alex!!!!
This may be the most socially awkward cast of all 16 series. And I think Sam walking up to his prizes with no reaction other than just standing there is the epitome of that. I love it.
Lucy is one of those people that doesnt seem to be trying to be funny at all, and is actually being quite serious, which just makes it funnier
it's one of the cardinal rules you learn as an actor: don't play the joke. Joke's only work when the people involved take it seriously.
I'm so incredibly thrilled about the new episodes being posted weekly this time!! a 24 hour delay is not too bad at all. I will definitely wait that day so I can watch the eps here on rhe official account to support the show 😀

I love the moment when Alex thinks about correcting Greg's "four sets of arms" and decides not to.
This is gonna be a great season. Sam is looking like he'll be a strong competitor.
I used to work for Sam's US manager a few years back, he's maybe the funniest person I've ever met in every moment. He's going to be an all timer I can promise you that fellow task-heads!!!

I had no idea Lucy Beaumont was so insane, and I love her.
I've seen her a few times and expected that to be the case.
The fact that Lucy is Jon Richardsons wife is great brings me so much joy. I feel like she didn't watch his series at all and went on the show with no idea what was going to happen.
I'm re-watching these series because I love this show. And the first thing I said to myself once I got to this one was, "Oh yeah, this is the one where everyone is an airhead." And I mean that in the nicest way possible, they are all sweethearts.
Sam Campbell is hilarious! 'child of divorce' had me guffawing :-)
Absolutely love all the contestants, well done TM for this combo!
I thought we were gonna do boys vs girls and it would be all bubbly womanly energy and then Julian and Sam. But when Lucy showed up it changed my life
If these five individuals were not all successful entertainers, based on this episode you would have to assume they are all barely functional goofballs, and that is my favorite type of Taskmaster contestant. What a delight to have five of them. I am very much impressed that Sue and Susan successfully completed their team task. Also amusing that a woman who hosted a charming baking show seems to have "groin" as a favorite word. I'm not sure who actively despised Alex more, Julian or Sue, but I love that they both do in hilariously different manners.
i want to see this cast solve a murder mystery every week for 30 minutes, im in love with their awkward energy
That would be a great idea for a show.
Honestly the hair cutting was one of the most insane things I've seen on taskmaster so far. Alex must have been in shock watching that happen
Thank you, Taskmaster!! I will be patient. I will not search the Internet/RUclips every 5 minutes starting immediately after the show airs. I will watch Taskmaster content exclusively on the Taskmaster channel. This is my pledge. (I’m so excited that I don’t have to cheat on you!). Love and laughs from Iowa! 🖤💛🖤💛🖤
Can't believe this was just episode 1, I think i laughed enough for an entire series!! This cast is incredible.
And it feels like there is already a great dynamic between all of them. Usually it takes a few episodes for that.
I like that Sue's clothes are very similar to Mel Gedroyc's clothes. Basically only the name on the costume is different.
Also I love her instant reactions to Alex whenever he's done something sneaky. She calls him out for it and doesn't hold back.
What did Sue’s T Shirt say. Couldn’t quite read it Thanks
@@suebunce3429 Vote for Pedro, from the movie Napoleon Dynamite :)
I noticed that, too! What a nice nod to her friend!
But unlike Mel, Sue is not going for the Taskmaster's nicest contestant of all time and I am here for it!! I loved how much she called Alex on his shit.
i love how awkward the team of 3 are. actual huge complement. this might be a strong series if they keep that up. i know a lot of people think 7 was the best series, but 16 might go down as the most "weird" and im all for it lol.
Sam Campbell is absolutely brilliant. He clearly understands the assignments. Hard to see him not winning this, which of course is not really the point. He's also hilarious, though.
This is the most I've laughed at a TM episode probably EVER! For some reason I always thought "4 arms" Lucy Beaumont was the Smart one in her marriage with Jon Richardson, consider me educated now, but she is loveable and comedy GOLD! ...and Sam is a LEGEND! I could only hope to see Sam and Joe Wilkinson on some show together at some point in life. Everyone of the contestants are gems and play off each other really well. I can feel a great series coming up, looking very forward to it! Thank you Sh*t Giblet! 🤣
Alex and the team are extremely good at casting and picking people with good chemistry. Every season has been an absolute banger
@@KyleBaran90 series 10 was fairly lackluster, but otherwise I agree.
@@Scou73rseries 10 had to deal with there being no audience whatsoever, though. Something the studio sections of 11 and 12 also suffered from, but the contestants had a bit more time to adjust.

Alex's break when Lucy is talking about her legs is amazing!
Are you a child of divorce has got to be up there with the best taskmaster moments 😂
Well, is he?
Came home in a pretty horrible mood. I've only just seen the start of JLS part one and I'm already feeling great! Greg's intro for the contestants was amazing, Lucy squawking to start the intro, and once again an amazing collection of personalities. I knew Lucy was going to be a quote factory but Sam has put out some gold early doors, 'I've never felt things this high.', 'I thought if I got really low my tower would be higher.'. Thoroughly love it, thanks so much for giving us this season across the pond.
"Absolute shower of shit" is a strong contestant for Winklemans "you're a horrible horrible man" and "you evil man" :)
Incredibly thankful for you guys posting once again the new series here close to the airing date!
That was one of the best season openers yet, which is a tremendous feat for a show that's in it's 16th series.
And I love Greg's new portrait, based on the classic Fritz Lang film Metropolis.
Better than the Phil Wang wang suit?
@@adorabell4253 it was a tight call

I can't thank you enough for making it available outside UK. It's always a bright (if not the brightest) moment of my day when I see a new upload. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for sharing these with us so soon! International Taskmaster fans are eating well tonight! Phenomenal first episode too, if this is an indication of the series’ tone we may be in for one of the best in years.
Of course Campbell wins a can based task, he owes it to his name!
You thinks he eats a lotta soup?
Some say there’s quite a bit from where he comes from
Rewatching once the season was over, and this is even more genius than the first time knowing everything we found out along the way. Pure brilliance,
I just discovered this format last week. And well, to be fair it feels like I have done nothing else beside watching all of it.
Taskmaster is posting it to RUclips!! My dreams come true!!
So Sam brought his initial can, came up with the hair idea, and chose the wellie over a water-dense pineapple. Yeah I think he's definitely winning this series. Could be the smartest I've seen so far.
I can’t watch this yet, but let me just say thank you for putting this season up so soon. A group of friends and I have been watching every season of this show together, and we were going to do a complete rewatch of every season when we were done with series 15. But now, series 16 is being put up far sooner than any of us could have anticipated, so we have a whole bunch of new Taskmaster to await us in the coming weeks. Again, thank you so much for uploading these and making us silly Americans aware of this wonderful show.
There's just nothing that compares to the laughter high when watching Taskmaster! Thanks from Germany for this treat!
This series has brought together the most unorthodox set of people, and it’s amazing. The prize task is a delight.
Let's go Saaammmm!!! As a non-Brit these are all new people for me. And since I had time, Mae recommended him on the podcast and it was on RUclips, I watched his stand-up special. He has a very specific and out there character. He's my ride or die for this series and am incredibly pumped with his success in the first episode.
I imagine a lot of people outside Australia and the UK comedy scene didn't know Sam. Glad everyone gets the chance to now 😁
Sam and Susan are the two I don't know. And I'm instantly in love with Sam.
Oh Christ, Lucy already has me in tears and I’m only at her prize task 😂😂 This series is already making a play for a new fave 😂
Wait! Are you saying these tests aren’t scientifically rigorous?!
"I'm bearing up under the strain, thank you" made me cough
cannot believe sam is already killing it with lateral thinking in the tasks but also with brilliant quotes such as “are you a child of divorce”
I'm so excited to get to see these episodes right from your channel! I discovered Taskmaster just before Covid and it's been a godsend through a rocky part of my life. Thank you to the Taskmaster team!
This is such a strong opener. This will be a classic series I can feel it in my beak.

Yeah, I definitely paid for a TV license. No need to check.
For once a man from Cuba visiting Germany on a connecting flight to the UK isn't involved.
“Are you a child of divorce “ nearly killed me!!!! What an awesome ending!! Thanks so much for posting!!!
The Taskmaster team knows how to keep taskmaster in business, this series will run FOREVER! It's got a dedicated youtube following, plus it's already aired on uk tv and i'm for it.
I bet every time Sue Perkins says something inventively rude, Alex will attribute it to some classical reference. So far he has said Revelation and King Lear.
Thank you, Taskmaster! ❤
You've kept me going through the pandemic, the deaths of my mother and brother, and all of my daily stresses. It's more than a tv show.
I feel you. Hugs to you!
are you a child of divorce is one of the greatest lines in taskmaster history hahaha
I missed it the first time around but Sam kissing Alex's hand when Alex helps him up was so out of pocket 😂 He's like a little space alien, I want to study him
I am taking second quarter inorganic chemistry and first quarter anatomy and physiology while working three jobs. This show is the exact amount of goofy, clever, and charming to enjoy while destressing during study breaks.
