I had health anxiety regarding a certain disease I have genetically. What helped me a lot was learning mindfulness meditation. I used the book 30 Days to Reduce Anxiety by Harper Daniels to learn mindfulness meditations to practice, which helped a lot.

Thank you for this. I have been suffering from nocturnal health anxiety attacks for the past 2 years since I suddenly started to have intense panic attacks (I just recently found out it was gluten and hormonal issues after many many tests and doctor visits) but the anxiety still attacks at night fearing my heart can just stop at any moment. I will try these tips.

I know this feeling. During the peak of my own panic attack flare ups a few years ago, I would actually wake up from a dead sleep with my heart POUNDING, as if I just ran up a huge flight of stairs. This happened nightly for a long time and was very scary. Got to the point that I would dread falling asleep, praying that "it" wouldn't happen again in the upcoming night. So exhausted and desirous of sleep, yet fearing waking up. Pure Hell. I hope you're not in that state.
      Hang in there.

When I was fixated on my heart, primarily due to anxiety induced ectopic beats, I avoided working out for the longest period ever in my life. The initial panic attacks I had plunged me into a strong distrust in my body, which had always been my anchor as a lifelong athlete.
I didn't want to do anything too rigorous for fear of dropping dead of heart failure (at 44 yrs old with excellent health, diet and fitness). Eventually, I said "F*ck it! If I die, I die but I will NOT be held hostage by this anymore." So I plunged into doing yardwork during the hottest part of the day and was literally running uphill mowing the lawn. Then, I embarked upon a very rigorous cardio training routine. I would push myself extremely hard on my treadmill (as was my normal practice prior to the panic attacks.) My approach was; if I'm going to DIE, then I will go out on my shield!
Gradually, as I continued doing this, I had effectually convinced my brain that there was simply no way that, if I REALLY had heart problems, that I could do those things. I made it next to impossible for my mind to BELIEVE my heart was suspect. It worked.

Hi there. Great story. I'm currently experiencing heart anxiety and it's crap and I'm also fit and healthy for someone who's 52. I have days when it's not a problem then all of a sudden, bang, it's back. It's funny as I hadn't experienced it since I got the all clear last year from hospital and GP (all my stats were excellent), but it started to rear it's ugly head again about a month ago. It's weird as I did exactly what you said, I said fxck it if i die I die then so be it - then it went away. So strange that happens. But it's hit me again last couple of days😅 so I'll have to say same thing again. Hope you're good. Peace out 🙏🙏🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

@@_6079SMITHthanks for that feedback, because we help each OTHER this way. As we've both learned, we're never totally "safe" from relapsing into the same thought patterns. It really is pretty incredible how our own minds can turn against us in such a way.
I'm currently "on" a different health anxiety system, fighting the battle.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is motivating. At 30 years old, despite maintaining a healthy lifestyle with no history of alcohol or smoking and having a clean bill of health, I've been grappling with health anxiety for the past year, primarily triggered by academic stress. Once highly active, engaging in daily runs, I now live in constant fear that any physical exertion might result in a sudden and serious heart attack, causing a significant upheaval in my life.

I just turned 60. I am a female and I have medical anxiety so bad that I don't want to leave the house. I do have a few legitimate symptoms I need to investigate but I'm scared to go to my doctors? Does anyone else struggle to leave the house from fear of the actual diagnosis? Please let me know 🙏

How have you been doing?Yes,anxiety is very common in perimenopause, menopause and post menopausal women, I am in the same situation, with all of the symptoms we experience from our changing hormones during these years it's no wonder we develop health anxiety. You are not alone.

Additional point about ectopic beats is that they are harmless; if your doctor already confirmed you are completely fine, your ecg and everything looked perfect, they can still happen. I read about that topic because I started having them after losing weight a little faster than I should have. Eating enough and increasing your potassium and magnesium helps too. Don't gnaw on the raw metals though. Eat some spinach or potatoes or have some pumpkin seeds here and there or better yet eat some liver, whichever you like.

i have deal with health anxiety for 8 years. it let me to diseases too like stomach issues gut issues and urinary problems. i can't find any solution how to remove health anxiety 😥

I've had both of those, and many other "illnesses." Heart, brain tumor, HIV, various cancers and yes, urinary function fixation. The latter was/is a particularly challenging one and I suggest looking into anxiety connections to your pelvic floor. I found so much info on how I was unconsciously clenching my pelvic floor muscles which causes all kinds of urinary symptoms that I was terrified of.
Good luck and I hooe you're on the path to healing.

I get anxious when i feel a bit weak. I worry i have diabetes because i have to eat often or at least my anxiety has brainwashed me to believe if i dont eat i will have a hypo. I have put on a stone because of my fear of feeling hungry or having diabetes.

Exactly the same with me. Usually hits me around 9am each morning. I think I've got some sort of blood sugar problem. It's ridiculous, because I was never like this before my anxiety reached where its at now.

I just eat often but I’m obsessed with eating and I often feel exhausted. No pressure though if you don’t want to share how you deal with it that is fine. All the best Craig!.

@shanehall3837 what usually works for me is having a little small box of natural almonds in my pocket. For whatever reason if I feel like I'm getting dizzy , or a weird hypo type feeling in the mornings when hungry (even tho I shouldn't feel hingry) I eat a handful of natural almonds. Weird , but it works. That way, I'm eating but also not eating in excess. I do know it's anxiety though, never had these issues before anxiety really kicked in. If it were sugar levels or whatever wouldn't this have been happening before ? Anxiety is a bitch and it's very very very odd with it's many symptoms.
